The flagship of the NSCR, serving as the first airport rail link of the Philippines, is a limited express service along the NSCR North line. It will run on the same tracks as NSCR Commuter trains, but it will not stop at any stations between Manila and Clark International Airport. It will have a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour. While the rolling stock is still being procured, a suggested preliminary design published shows the resemblance to the E259 and E353 series by the East Japan Railway Company.
This NSCR train is the same as us in Jakarta,Indonesia, namely the KRL Jabodetabek, which began operating in 1970 with a route of 418 km. We hope that the construction of this train will be completed
The origins of the NSCR dates back as early as 1978, when two experts from the Japanese National Railways were sent to conduct the study regarding the electrification of the PNR railway. First proposed as the "Manila-Clark rapid railway" in 1994, but later cancelled in 1998 after both the Philippine and Spanish governments disagreed on the source of funding. The project was revived in 2002 as the "NorthRail" project, but it was cancelled again in 2011 due to allegations of overpricing and corruption. The current NSCR began development in 2013, and actual construction began in 2019.
