As if was shot on video, yesterday...
You can see the sense of relief in the eyes of the German civilians. They knew the war was over for them, and although Hitler was still alive in his bunker in Berlin by the 12th of April, they knew he would nevermore rule over them.
I always admired the courage of the germans in fighting a war 10-1 on 2 fronts.

German foreign intellegence was very poor..
on Russia's winterweather, roads, tankproductions facilities... etc.
and on how many men/soldiers Stalin could/would spent...
Russia could only defeat Germany with a loss of 4 russians against 1 German...
If russia had 2 to loose.. the Germans might have won from the Russians...

“Liberated”. Souvenir hunting. It was frowned on by the brass and some guys got in trouble for it. Usually because they degenerated into plundering instead of fighting. All armies are prone to it. Irregular forces always evolve into violent organized crime.

So they couldn't tell time. When your a POW time, date & location are kept from you.
