    I have been playing with Radiant Photo early-release version since it dropped for early upgraders this weekend. I share your enthusiasm and think you did a great job introducing Radiant Photo. I am always amazed at the amount of vitriol a discussion of photo editing software can create. Well beyond Nikon vs Canon; it almost approaches discussions of tightie-whities vs boxer shorts. Both you and another UA-cam review found a few images over the top. When processing the original RAW image, the other reviewer found the results far more to his taste. Would be interesting for you to try Radiant Photo on the RAW version or original version TIFF to see how it does and how close it is to your already well processed version.

      Hey Mark - thanks for watching and glad to hear you are enjoying the pre-release of Radiant Photo so far! I have noticed some better results with RAW files, which is to be expected. Problem is that Radiant Photo doesn't read my OM-1 RAW files yet, so I've had to use DxO PureRAW first to convert them to a DNG file, which Radiant can then open. You'll find some better highlight and shadow detail and some better color when using RAW/DNG files, again to be expected. I'm still amazed at what it does to JPG files though lol.

    How different is this- in terms of end results- from Perfectly Clear, basically by same developers and which many of us already have?

    • @MattSuessPhoto
      @MattSuessPhoto  2 роки тому +1

      Per Radiant Imaging Labs, "Perfectly Clear Complete is now Radiant Photo. Radiant Photo will be handled by Radiant Imaging Labs and powered by our all-new Perfectly Clear Engine. The main difference between Perfectly Clear Complete and Radiant Photo is the core technology doing the corrections. Radiant Photo is using the newest Perfectly Clear engine, the same engine that some of the largest photo companies in the world license from us. Not only does this include some new and improved corrections (for example, our previous tint correction was good, but didn’t always kick on. Now with the new AI, it never fails!) it also includes Scene Detection. This means that using AI, Radiant Photo will choose the preset and parameters for you rather than you having to choose a different preset for every photo. For example, a newborn baby should get a soft and subtle correction while a landscape should have vibrancy and depth. Because of AI, the Perfectly Clear engine in Radiant Photo is able to do that."

    Really nice overview video, Matt. Loved hearing what a working photographer thinks of Radiant. Seeing you crank your already-finished photos through Radiant was eye-opening! Re: the questions about comparing to Perfect Clear 3, what I've heard is that current version of Perfectly Clear 3 is using an older version of the image processing engine and Radiant Photo used the latest up-to-date version of Eye-Q's *enterprise* engine.
    This is the engine that they license to the big-volume print labs around the world where no humans touch the photos. Which points to another facet of Radiant Photo - every image comes out "print-ready". BONUS! ;) I know you copied and pasted that from their site in earlier responses, but I wanted to reiterate that.

    Hey Matt. Initial looks seem great. Do you know if they plan to add plugin support for ON1 and/or Affinity Photo? I do not use Adobe LR or PS so was just curious.

      Thanks Stephen - they are definitely looking at plugin support with other programs provided those programs support Adobe Plugins. Otherwise you can send photos from your editor of choice direct to Radiant Photo then have Radiant export/save the finished file back into wherever your watched folders are.

    I have Perfectly Clear 3, do you know if there will be an upgrade path to this for Perfectly Clear licensees? Don't see anything about that on their website or way to contact them.

    • @MattSuessPhoto
      @MattSuessPhoto  2 роки тому

      As far as I understand it right now, Eye-Q, the company behind Perfectly Clear 3, is a completely separate company from Radiant Imaging Labs who is coming out with Radiant Photo and thus Radiant Photo is a brand new product with refreshed GUI and newer engine of Perfectly Clear along with other new features. So because of new company and new product, Radiant Photo isn't a true upgrade path from Perfectly Clear 3. I'm not sure at all if Eye-Q sent a recent email regarding this or not, so might not be a bad idea to double-check your inbox in case they did.

    Just watched the video. I like owning my software, that is a nice feature. Did I understand things correctly though. You mention that the toolkit is what provides the maintenance. Normally when I buy software there is 1 yr of maintenance included. You indicated this is normally only provided as a 6 month option.

    • @MattSuessPhoto
      @MattSuessPhoto  2 роки тому

      Hey Danny - great question! If you purchase Radiant Photo without the Toolkit, you get 6 months worth of updates. So the pre-launch offer doubles that to 1 full year - free during the pre-launch. Then 1yr from now you'd be auto billed for $50 for another year of updates and new features and extra webinars, etc. Or you can cancel anytime before that charge goes through next year and still get to use the software after that.

    I just got the trial version. My first impression was, yes this is nice. But then, somehow all images get a similar look. Some of my fully processed images looked oversharpened and oversaturated, while others were processed well and the result was nice. It did not very well with color casts. However, one area where I was really impressed was the color rendition of skin color in highly problematic images. And finally, I noticed that the Sharpen and Denoise options are below par.

Everytime I try to save a image or I zoom in it seems the software has lowered the resolution of the image greatly. Is this just a limited of workbench? Very disappointing video. This may be the bees knees of photo software but the video comes across as a marketing tool for the company and not as an independent or objective review. I know the practice of companies using paid influencers is common but at least most of them try to show a modicum of objectivity. Again, this may be great software. But I’m going to wait until I see objective reviews before investing in yet another editing tool.

    Overpriced. So basically do all the heavy lifting in other software as you mention. It’s fast as it doesn’t do the heavy lifting.

    • @MattSuessPhoto
      @MattSuessPhoto  2 роки тому +1

      For my workflow I am using Radiant Photo as a finishing tool right now, but it is completely flexible to adapt to your needs - use it as your main RAW processor or as a plugin and thus a finishing tool.
      As for pricing, what $ value would you put on software that can make almost any photo you've processed before look noticeably better? Think of it as a $129 upgrade to your camera that improves the look of any of your RAW, TIF, or JPG shots no matter what software you used before. I remember paying over $600 back in the day for the Nik plugins - it was worth it based on what it could do that other software can't do. Same here at a much lower price. YMMV of course.

      When you realize that in some photos it could potentially save you 10-30 minutes of edit time, you will soon realize that it is a complete steal. I've been using the earlier generation of this program for years and it was absolutely worth EVERY penny and then some.

  • @devroombagchus7460
    @devroombagchus7460 2 роки тому +1

    Thanks. It looks promising. I’ll watch the video again later, before I decide. Being able to avoid “overprocessing” is important to me. I still have to get used to the American love of hyperboles. In the introduction, you said that you were super excited. For me, this means a totally new spectacular invention. Or, as in Spanish and French, you were very horny. In which case, I didn’t expect a photo of a bird 🦢.

    • @MattSuessPhoto
      @MattSuessPhoto  2 роки тому

      Radiant Photo definitely tries to keep that overprocessing in check. Of course sometimes the initial results in Radiant Photo are a little extreme for me (everyone's tastes are different), but it is very easy to back off them all while limiting any artifacts, banding, and halos and keeping that natural look.
