Dawn has an eclectic musical catalogue. My favorite songs by her happens to be some of her overlooked and demo leaked material. "So What" sounds like a record Rodney Jerkins has produced. "Mistaken Identity," "Jezebel," "Tip Toe,"--- there are a slew beautiful songs that she crafted that weren't solidified on a Danity Kane album or her solo debut! But, I really LOVE "These Tears" + "Champion" from A TellTale Heart, "Warfare" + "Break of Dawn" from GoldenHeart and "Phoenix" + "The Deep" from BlackHeart. As far as to discuss the reason why Dawn hasn't become a massive mainstream success, the answer is a bit complex. If success is measured by the depth of sold out shows one must book, or the amount of money you may earn, then, a lot of other artists outside of Dawn are fleeting. Like she mentioned, she has managed to cultivate a world that she can cater to and receive back in. Over the years, Dawn also has stated that she has managed to have meetings with labels but they expressed their disinterest in signing her a recording contract because her music is "a risk" and her sound is far too abstract for mainstream radio. Her blend of Hip-bop beats riding over a synth wave of electro-tropic repetitive dance floor melodies is NOT a sound people are used to. Race is also an issue. Despite having a soulful voice, a Black woman is told that she should NOT being singing techno music. Dawn is more focused on following her musical impulses rather than being restricted to a specific format that is meant to appease other people. Music is subjective, there is no good or bad. It gives life, memories, emotions and lessons. A friend of mines once told me "as long as you have an audience willing to hear you, you're already a success." And he's absolutely right. Sure, we want an expansion in fame and notoriety for Dawn. But, she's already winning. And that's all that really matters. ❤︎

Other top favorites are "Adderal/Sold", "Castles", "Wake Up", "Fly", "Return of the Queen", and "Army." As to why she hasn't blown up, the same thing she said in the interview. Whether there's a 3 fans, 700, 7,000, or 70,000, that's support. The way you define "blown up", "success", and "support" could be the reason why she hasn't blown up. She's an indie artist, she's doing what she should do success wise. Plus when you think about funding, it takes a lot to step into the mainstream world, to get on certain platforms. It's like the question you asked us, she gave the real answer to. As she also said, "People respect you when you have the MONEY." They either respect you out of love or because of that. People are bandwagoners. Someone could see someone as potentially dope or maybe not at all,but they'll open their eyes to look into that, or accept that once everyone else has approved of said person because most people don't think for themselves. This is why we have "Trends", and "What's hot", instead of you deciding what is hot yourself. Lastly, I feel like because of ignorant mindsets like the bit you represented in bits and pieces of this interview. Like the interview was pretty much positive, but at the end you come with senseless questions like that. Like the thing about continuously asking DAWN about the Aubrey shade was unnecessary. You kept beating the dead horse, she said the truth the 1st time, and as the rest of the world, people continue to pester the petty stuff. She would have to sacrifice her art and herself to become mainstream. And as she said "the machine is great, but we're over here killing it too."

To the second question I don't think we are God to determine Dawn's fate but what I can say is her attitude and humility and true dedication to her gifts and talent she is big in her eyes because she has accomplished deals and endorsements most have not.

Dawn was always my fave in MTB3 and her voice and emotion when she sings just resonated with me. Tbh, I missed out on her solo stuff when it was released. Not sure why I didn’t get into it, but it’s 2023 and I have Goldenheart another listen and have been going down a rabbit hole of her videos and my god, I’m obsessed. I am glad she stays making music. A true artist!

I believe that Dawn is not a massive mega star because she's different & keeps it moving. She never has the same sound for long & people don't accept change or are afraid of it all together. It's hard to handle change, but I've moved with Dawn easily. She drops off great songs after great songs whether they are one star or five star. She's still delivering music & by the list I provided; you know I fucks with her heavily. Actually, "Heaven" is on my Top 30 Songs of All Times Playlist; which can be found on my channel (I've never heard something that hard when the beat makes me want to clap, ever; ever.). Dawn, said something about healing people; she has helped me heal a lot. She has helped my imagination remix a lot. She puts me through things & has inspired a lot of things in my stories. But I have an IQ of 144; I see the world differently than everyone else. What makes that worse is, I have split personalities; my tastes varies way more than the normal person. But like Dawn posted on Tumblr; I'm an acquired taste, if you don't like me; acquire some taste. That's all it takes to get with Dawn. But people are bullshit now a days; they don't search for their music, they follow radio stations, movies, bullshit deejays who just want recognition by playing what's popular & all this other money grubbing shit that's going on. I believe that radio stations & what have you play what pays their bills. Dawn can't buy her way to top & she wouldn't buy her way to the top if she had the option. She does music for the love it like Amerie & once you do music for the love it; you're not catering to fads & trends. You're doing what you go through & what she's going through; I fucks with.

Dawn was always my fave in MTB3 and her voice and emotion when she sings just resonated with me. Tbh, I missed out on her solo stuff when it was released. Not sure why I didn’t get into it, but it’s 2023 and I have Goldenheart another listen and have been going down a rabbit hole of her videos and my god, I’m obsessed. I am glad she stays making music. A true artist!

Dawn releasing the blow visual literally the day after DK3 & BH on 1/15/15 to me was a lowkey way of saying fuck u to him as well as Aubrey!!!
