Hi Jeff! Firefighting is a crazy job! I know you get fires that make ours look tiny!! We have enough humidity here that they usually don’t get too crazy. Take care sir and thanks for watching 😊👍👍
You two are doing a great job on that beautiful cabin. Can't wait to see when you two work inside the cabin. Just keep grinding and enjoying the build.
I’m proud of both of u!!! Cabin looks awesome, seems to me u’all are making the best decision. Definitely doing a great job. I wouldn’t expect less from the both of u. It’ll be so great to see the Finnishing of cabin.
It's like an old Western, Lance the fat lip draws fast his drill lol 🤣, great job guys gable looks awesome. I like how your better half is pushing you😀. Keep going love your channel.
It is looking so beautiful and it’s kind of sad the cabin build will be coming to an end. I have throughly enjoyed watching this wonderful cabin coming to life. You both work together like a fine oiled machine. That’s love and respect you both have for each other. That is how my husband and I are too. After 51 almost 52 years of marriage your brains have melted together as one. You don’t have to speak you already know what will be said. Great video as usual . Thank you!!! See you in the next one . Lance wear your shield Lol t
Good to hear Debbe! 51 years is definitely something to be proud of!! We do get irritated with each other from time to time, but learned long ago to get over it and move on! Wouldn’t want to spend our life with anyone else😊💕💕
@@natureartgirl I know what you mean for sure. I truely enjoy watching the cabin build. I'm new here but I have watched every video and I can't wait for the next one. Stay save that specially means Lance(Face Guard )
Thx for the enjoyable videos. I have been trying to understand why I am enjoying them so much. I finally figured it out. It is because you two remind me of my parents, now departed. Their tangible love affair and marriage. How they worked so well together to build an import business from scratch, how they remodeled a run down cabin. Their love for each other was a powerful lesson to my brothers and I. Many, many thanks for this trip down memory lane. Keep up the great work. God bless you!
Everything you're doing now is a major step and has huge visual impact. Closing in the gable ends with that beautiful blue-streaked live edge, the stain/preservative and next the floor. All will add scale and perspective to the cabin - as will doors and windows. You must be looking forward to each next stage with such anticipation! You'll have a magnificent home when it's finished, of that I'm sure, and I eagerly await each new video.
You two have built a very beautiful log cabin. I can't wait to see the next video. I am sending all my love to you two and please give the dogs a big hug and kiss from G from England.
That stain/ preservative certainly enhances how good your cabin looks (& it will help it last!). Your cabin already looks terrific - I agree with how well the closing in of the gable ends has worked too, its beautiful. Hope the fat lip has healed up fast Lance... ;)
That Gable looked really good and that stain look really nice turned out great and that was a big Deer over all you two are amazing i have been following you since you started this cabin !!
Thank you Kriss. Yes, the deer are quite brave this time of year. But when hunting season starts they disappear 😂😂They have really wrecked my garden this year, I guess the drought has made it more difficult to find food🙄😬
Q8 log oil is fabulous. I cedar shingled my cottage off a lake and bushed on Q8 log oil and have a second coat after 3 years. . I coated a wooden picknic table with only one coat the first time I coated the cottage after I shingled it and it still beads up rain water same as a newly waxed car. I just used it on cedar shingles I used to close in under a second floor porch but this time I used an air compressor sprayer that I use to paint cars and equipment set at 40psi and the results were awesome. Don't think I would ever use q8 with a paint brush again. Much quicker and still applies a good protective even coat of q8. Worth all the money you pay for it. I just finished a fence with Australian timber oil also sprayed on and I think Everlast q8 log oil is infinity a better product. Highly recommended.
Yes, we agree!! Definitely the best product we have ever used. Another advantage is that if you have some left, it doesn’t hurt it if if freezes. We won’t use anything else since we tried it😊👍
Howdy y’all- your cabin looks great! I did pretty much the same thing on our well house gables out of live edge pine I milled with my Alaskan mill 27 years ago. Still looks nice. I really like the soffit vents. May have to start using those. They look really nice. Hope y’all are doing well. Take care and God bless
Wow! That would really be a lot of work with an Alaskan mill! Glad to know it held up good. We had it pretty easy cutting it with our big mill. Hope your project is doing good too. Take care!😁😊
Hi Ian! We don’t see too many here in Arkansas anymore either. It definitely takes longer to build than a conventional home, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Thanks for watching!😊👍

You are right about the hard labor😂🤣we are going to need some serious lake time after this project!😁thanks so much for watching and all the kind comments 👍
Found your channel through the Western Log Homes Supply website. We are also building a log cabin home for rental property. We've also traveled through Hot Springs, Arkansas and it is a beautiful place! Wish you guys the best of luck. But serious question, how are you guys liking the Outlast Q8 stain? we are getting ready to decide what we are going to put on ours. Any incite would be greatly appreciated.
We are super happy with it! It is the easiest stain we have ever used and so far it is by far the best! It does take longer to dry, but that is actually an advantage as you don’t have to worry about overlap marks when you apply it. It soaks in rather than staying on the surface so you never have to worry about it peeling off. Another thing that we like is that it still allows the logs to dry so you don’t have to wait for them to dry completely before you stain them. We have friends that used a different product and they have had all kinds of problems with it. I think you will love it. One note…they have test samples of the different colors that you can try on your actual logs. Be sure and do that and wait the recommended 2 weeks or so as the color mellows out quite a bit as it dries. They will reimburse you the cost of the samples if you order the stain. Have fun building your cabin and stay safe!😊👍
The progress is looking 👌 great, I will be using that oil preservative when I build. Be careful with that angle grinder they are the most dangerous tool on the jobsite.

Seems you could really use a battery powered back pack for all the spraying you are going to do and are doing. Takes away the need to pump so it would in effect also give you that third arm you were asking for. Not that much more than the manual kind either. Saw them in Northern Tool if you can't find them elswhere.

We used 10 gallons so far including staining the floor joists. That may not have been necessary, but just to be sure.. we just ordered another 5 gallons for the deck and porch. It shouldn’t take that much when we re stain down the road. We are going to use a different stain for the inside. It is the outlast interior stain. Dries much faster and goes a lot farther per gallon since it doesn’t soak in much. I think 5 gallons should be enough. We haven’t used it before, so we will see.

Didn't think 15 litre would be heavy.

How did you fill in gaps between boards?
There is two layers of live edge, the underneath layer covers the gaps between the top layer. There really aren’t any gaps when we are done. We do run a line of caulking along the bottom and top when finished to make sure it’s sealed good.
What kind of paint do you spray on the timber?
We used Outlast Q8 log oil. It is a wood stain and preservative. It is the best stain we have ever used! We bought it from Western Log Home Supply online. The link is in our video description.
How often do you need to reapply stain?
They say one good coat on new wood. Then wait a year or two and give it another coat. Then about every 4-8 years for logs or vertical surfaces and yearly for exposed decks.
@@natureartgirl it's really cool when a product works as expected!
What type of wood are the logs?
They are southern yellow pine. All old growth about 65 years old. We cut them off of our property. 😊
got to ask how old are you two ??? your quite the team.
Lance is 63 and Cinda is 62. We have been married almost 45 years. 😊
