    Love the channel with the information I redid M90 diesel injector pump piece of cake with your video since then I had something horribly go wrong with the clutch not sure but it looks like I had a lathe running metal shavings as soon as I opened up the inspection plate I couldn't find a video and what I might be looking at it's a multi power clutch setup

      Possibly just a finger come loose, you would need to split it I would think.

      @@BundyBearsShed thank you for the response it took pictures inside the inspection plate the high low rod is I see four bolts and just in front of that there is a disc and it looks like it's ground all the way down. Clutch pivot Bolt for the pedal looks like it could be rubbing on the same plate what the pedal is 8 in below the footrest I hope I didn't do any damage to the transmission I'll keep looking to see if I can find any more videos on that thanks again

    Well Lance, this'll give you a giggle. First time I'd done a clutch, late teens I think. Anyway only a bottle jack in the yard, might? have been 100E Ford, can't remember. Anyway struggled on my own the get the box off, fitted the clutch and off we went NOT. No clutch, yeah I'd only put it in wrong way round. Not a lot of difference in the boss, just enough to hold it off. Now remember I'd driven the car on the rivets until it wouldn't move. Anyway, struggled to take it all to bits, fit it the right way round. Lesson learned. Never made that mistake again lol.

    Once you have a throw out bearing you re used lock up and take the fingers off your new pressure plate you no longer will put old bearings back in when you do the job. :-) Every clutch job I do gets new bearings and trans and engine oil seals while I am there I hate having to go back and do a job over.

      G day Brian, Yes same here they all get new throw out and pilot bearing. Its not an option.

    Good day Lance question does sparex make a spring clutch disc for tea20's with the 5 or 6 springs around the hub. I like those types for a lot of stop and go if a loader on tractor?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  Рік тому

      Not that I know of, they seem to only have the sprung outer not the hub that you are looking for.

    Hi again from Canada Lance, your videos are fantastic! Today I'm replacing the captive PTO disc on my MF35. - each of the 3 release finger pivot pins are held in place by a small roll pin driven into a hole in the cast cover. To get the lever pivot pins out do I drill these little roll pins out or shear them off by driving on the other end of the pivot pin? Thanks again, your videos have given me the confidence to tackle several projects...

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  6 років тому

      Usually there is a clip you can flick out but check if it will bump through

    • @TheDungorm
      @TheDungorm 6 років тому +2

      thanks for taking the time to reply Lance, turns out from an old service manual that this was the way the lever pivot pins were held on the earlier MF35 double clutch, the manual says to drive them deeper in towards the belleville washer and shear off if necessary by striking the pivot pin. For reassembly, it says to replace the pivot pins with a special D headed pin that's held in by a split pin through the end. I guess the flat side on the head is to prevent the pin from turning in the cover journals, apparently the D head of the pin should be on the leading side as the clutch rotates. I will have to order a set of the pins, looks like Sparex S.1782, MF 828597M2 in case anyone else has the same problem. Thanks again. Content by experienced people like you and Dave 'Canadian Redneck' plus the ongoing availability of parts for these old tractors helps keep our head above water here on the farm... on the left coast of Canada. It's a small world now...

    In part 2 you say to sand blast the working face. Mine has hot spots on it and I believe because the fingers were miss-set from the rebuilder so the one set at 44mm set down first. I was planning on chucking it up in my lathe and facing off the surface. I can't feel any highs or lows. This is actually on a 1941 Plymouth clutch. It looks identical to your clutch. The machining looks like an Asian imported disc brake rotor, heavy grooving. My fingers are set at 44mm, 45.25mm & 46mm. Opinion?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  6 років тому

      Even the fingers out, possibly on the lower figure as when the clutch wears the fingers get higher and reduce free travel at the peddle. Sometimes the hot spots go very hard and they dont machine well and need to be ground.

    To 20 purrs without the governor hooked up but once the governor is connected surges and eventually dies. We replace the umbrella governor however there is adjustment on the timing cover the bolt has been cut off flush with the nut…..So I thought try to find another timing cover for adjustment

    HI Bundy, my clutch works fine when engaged but it is sticky/slow when releasing the pedal to engage the clutch, this eases up with use but not totally free, it is worse during winter with less use. is there something that can be freed up? I'm not sure whether its simply the pedal or springs that provide pressure against engagement that are sticky.
    any ideas? love your videos, just replaced rear seal and brake linings with your assistance on my old Grey Fergie. regards Stuart.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  5 років тому

      G Day Stuart, Most old Fergy clutch problems are from an oily clutch plate and in the winter they tend to get even stickier and dont want to release at times but slipping them in top gear will help for an hour or so. You will need to split it at some stage I would think.

      Hi lance, upon further inspection, it was the clutch pedal bush that was getting sticky, a quick spray up with some lanolin and as good as new, really good spring return on my clutch.
      Cheers

    in the video you mentioned burning the clutch when you have grease or oil on it by running in high gear. Can you provide more details on how to do that?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  5 років тому +1

      G Day Wee, When oil gets onto the clutch plate and mixes with the clutch dust it can get sticky and the clutch will shudder or be very sudden in its release. If you put the tractor in top gear and slip the clutch at high revs a few times it will clean some of the sticky stuff off the surfaces for a while and make the clutch work smoother for a short while. It is not a fix but something short term to help until the repair can be done.

    How do you put the tractor back together once you've done you're magic on the clutch? I've aligned the friction plate but I just can't get the output shaft to go into position. Do I have to take off the steering column to be able to see when the shaft and the hole in the clutch are aligned? So far I've just tried to align the pins and the holes of the body and shaking and wigling the heck out of the thing. I tried to remove the ignition switch and look through the hole but it's pitch black in there; can't see a thing.

      Try engaging the PTO and rocking it back and forth with a spanner to try and line the splines up or put it in top gear and turn the engine by hand. A;so check the gaps of the split are even from top to bottom so you know you are straight.

    Hey Lance. Love your videos! I have a TEA-20 and it has a dangerous problem. At times it will not engage a gear, although first gear usually goes in. I make sure to have it at low revs when changing gears. When this occurs, I can some times get it into gear by revving the engine, and letting it rev down again. The dangerous thing, though, is that it will not always disengage when I press down the pedal, and I am unable to get the gear stick out of gear. I have adjusted the free play on the clutch pedal to the 3/8" stated in the manual. Prior to adjusting, it was a bit more - probably 20 mm or so. Do you have any ideas what could be the issue, and how I should proceed? I don't have any trolley stands, so I am not sure if it is a good idea trying to split it.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  2 роки тому +1

      It does sound like oil on the clutch plate, in the tea20 playlist I show how to split the tractor. Easy enough to do with some preparation.

      Was the seal changes quick'n easy or did you have to take the crankcase apart? Edit: Nvm, he has a video on that too 😁 Looks to be a fairly straight forward process!
