Elevator Hitch is a short 2.5D surreal horror/escape room visual novel with point-and-click and puzzle elements following the story of two co-workers suddenly finding themselves stuck together in a "Perfectly Normal" 70s office elevator.

I personally think the message probably just on the surface way of looking at it is the fact that Jobs could care less where you come from or what your story is, if your new or old, as long as you can function youll work there until you cant and get replaced. And even if its a living hell, society puts us in a position that forces us to work anyway.

This game is probably one of my favorites from Rachel (the dev) on their game website in the comments they replied to someone saying, "the whole game was developed around the idea of having to go through trial-and-error without prior instructions or hints (just like in real world workplace where you need to be mature and navigate all on your own)- " i thought it was interesting getting their take on their own game. Imo the game could also be talking about a toxic enviroment in a job.

i have a theory sorta thing so when they ask for help 32:46 here im pretty sure mc looks over at the other dude after his head is blown off so mcs head is also blown off but if you remember somewhere within in the call it says “do not look at injured” 31:27 so what if mc never looked at the other dude when his head got blown off? would he be saved or would his head also get blown off?
Woah I think you're right - the mc didn't die until he looked at him (sure they might've anyway but there was a slight delay where he turned to look before he was shot) it would be interesting/horrifying if you could survive somehow by not looking but it makes sense. Nice job for noticing that (also love your bsd pfp it's cool)

I think I get the meaning.
TW: mentions of abuse
A child with abusive parents sees them as monsters that need to be kept away. They get a job they NEED to get away from abuse. The job isn't a good one to work in tho, but when they wamt to leave they get reminded they need it. The exit turned into the elevator because the elevator remind MC everything that happened because of which he needs the job. The 8th floor might be about how children from abusive homes need to leave other children behind for some time to survive. The mouth needing to be lighten up is how he needed time to realise how bad the abuse is in order to stop it. He's afraid he'll get replaced like rotten meat because than he's gonna lose the job and have to go back to his parents. The door to his place was behind because that's where he wanted to leave it. Top floor guy says "barely" "aware" "distraction" the first letters spell out "bad" but also he doesn't fully know he's a distraction. The guy that reminded him why he needed the job told him to watch what he's doing in the future. He tells him to not end up like his parents. He kills Bryce in one ending because he doesn't help him at all, he's there but he's not aware of MC's troubles, because he doesn't listen, so he snaps and that's when everybody sees them - victims often get help after the breaking point (don't kill anyone tho). The game makes you feel bad for the rat because he needs to let go something he doesn't want to let go to escape.
The hired ending, I'm not sure. Maybe it's people finding out about his fears and trying to change him as if it would help or him changing himself to fit in and hide his trauma? The black screen might be running away tho. Like just running away, he tried to open the window in parents ending maybe he realised the job will destroy him too so he opens the window and runs away
I have a really huge fear of elevators and escalators and this game makes me feel more nervous about elevators, ive had this fear for a long time but i watch it because i love nenaa❤

From a young age, she had a troupe of imaginary friends that played with her consistently. Among them was a CREEPY BOYFRIEND, always adorned in colorful attire and carrying a mischievous grin. They frolicked together, exploring imaginary lands and having endless adventures. As Neena grew older and adolescence kicked in, she felt the weight of reality pressing down on her. She started to distance herself from her once beloved imaginary friends, dismissing them as mere figments of her childhood imagination. She believed she needed to focus on the real world, leaving behind the whimsical tales she once reveled in.
