If ever a lady deserved being worshipped body and soul and voice , it is the absolutely adorable Emmy lou, no voice, in any genre of music is as pure and beautiful as hers
This was recorded in 1979 for an album called Roses In the Snow. Dolly is singing and Willie Nelson is playing the guitar break. The message is simple. If we believe, the Lord prepares a place for us in heaven.
❤ Walking hand in hand with Heart and our four children, as JESUS CHRIST our LORD AND SAVIOR SMILES AND WALKS AND TALKS WITH us. As we remember singing MARY'S LITTLE DARLIN' together on The Opry❤ ! GBY, Ted
This originally from the Emmylou Harris album "Roses in the Snow" from 1980. A great album, was rerelased in 2002, well worth getting if you like this track.
sdrtcacgnrjrc Thank you. I appreciate your help & info. I usually add so much info you have to click "Show More" for the drop-down. Usually list all artists also. I must have been very ill when I posted this. ( Will go to computer to see. Nothing is showing up on my phone). Thanks again, Moppet
Way Long years ago I heard this, just driving, and the background vocal and mandolin was my first exposure to Ricky Skaggs. That's why I bought it. I did get the Emmie Lou album though. She had her Black Dove. Too, this must be re-done because what I heard was much more down home. Notice Ricky Skaggs trills the last word upward in the singing ... That goes got well back into the 1800's.
Michael V Hello. I just saw your comment again & laughed. I was not well for several years & stayed off my site. I was just getting better when I responded to you. It is a lovely waltz...I missed that entirely! Thanks again for stopping by, Moppet
Green pastures 1. Troubles and trials often betray those On in the weary body to stray But we shall walk beside the still waters With the Good Shepherd leading The Way 2. Those who have strayed were sought by The Master He who once gave His life for the sheep Out on the mountain still He is searching Bringing them in forever to keep Going up home to live in green pastures Where we shall live and die never more Even The Lord will be in that number When we shall reach that Heavenly Shore 3. We will not heed the voice of the stranger For he would lead us all to despair Following on with Jesus our savior We shall all reach that country so fair
Thank you for your info. I appreciate all the help I can get. I will try to get this in my notes for all to see. Thank you for listening and adding your comment. My best to you, Moppet
I held my twins in my arms and rocked them to sleep listening to this song!!❤
No one, I say no one, harmonizes like Miss Emmylou Harris
I think Linda Ronstadt is her equal in the harmony department. they're both masters.
RICKY is incomparable !
She's singing Ralphs part
Still listening to Emmylou Harris, Ricky Skaggs since the 70s. Love , Love. 💓🌹🎸🤙 Love your songs to the Lord.🌹
I call this absolute perfection!
Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton & Ricky Skaggs...WOW!!!
I’ve already told my wife that this is the song that I want played at my funeral.

Country music as it should be.
Two very classy entertainers always a pleasure to listen to both of them

I hadn't noticed Dolly until it was pointed out.

Definitely a Ralph Stanley influence here with the harmony. Love this version.
For sure. But Ralph never had Emmylou.
Ralph wrote the song.

Indeed... 1-2-3... 1-2-3.
Green pastures
1. Troubles and trials often betray those
On in the weary body to stray
But we shall walk beside the still waters
With the Good Shepherd leading The Way
2. Those who have strayed were sought by The Master
He who once gave His life for the sheep
Out on the mountain still He is searching
Bringing them in forever to keep
Going up home to live in green pastures
Where we shall live and die never more
Even The Lord will be in that number
When we shall reach that Heavenly Shore
3. We will not heed the voice of the stranger
For he would lead us all to despair
Following on with Jesus our savior
We shall all reach that country so fair

Stephen Barcus. Neil Young on guitar
Here that, beautiful
@@leahill8615 No, Willie Nelson.
Stephen, you are correct. That is Willie on the guitar break.
OK.....Still in my bluegrass mode. Psalm 23 speaks of the Lord preparing a place of rest for us, Green Pastures.
Has to have a good mattress or I'm not going.
Psalm 23
Muchas gracious por todo. I appreciate your comment very much! It is a favorite song of mine. My best to you, Moppet (Barbara)
That is a picture of Neil Young with Emmylou Harris - NOT Ricky Skaggs.
Although that would be an interesting duo to consider...
Written by H.W. VanHoose.
High
I was looking for the gospel song they sang in church, anyone know the name of that song?
You might have better results if you give just a few more clues, but I could be wrong.
