It worked! Just pulled it out, dusted it off and now it's not getting stressed out as much as before. It is a major flaw because it highly affects battery time when it's going off like a PS4 jet engine. I compared the Intel Core i5 @ 1.60GHz before 70 °C and after 47 °C. Highly suggest doing this.
Thanks for the lovely video, I was going through you comment section and I noticed you mentioning something about "if fan not working perfectly then it'll definitely distract and slow down the laptop" at that moment, I knew that my hp (pavilion 15) laptop needs a new fan, cause I bought it 2 years ago and I've been using it excessively for college work, and it's making unusual loud noises which add on to my stress and makes my mood worse than it is while studying lol. I'll take it tomorrow to get it sorted & hopefully the fan will be the issue. Its noise is stuck in my head 24/7 all the time that's how loud it is lol.
Ugh ya that sounds like a pain in the butt:/ Also once you replace the fan... using it with a cooling pad too would be a good idea. Especially seeing that you heavily use your computer.
I have a HP 15-bw091nd, and the fan is making a lot of noise when running. This clip was somewhat helpful, as it showed me there were some hidden screws under the legs. However, I can only follow along until 1:20, as I still can’t remove the bottom... are there more hidden screws or something? 😢
Good question! Here is a link to the service manual for your model HP: h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493256 It will show you how to take a part your laptop and it will also show you where all the different screws are. Let me know if you have any questions:)
Thank you for video. My HP LAPTOP is a Windows DV7 & is almost 10 years old. Do u think the noise is a sign that it wl just break & die? I hv not backed up all my files yet.
Oftentimes it's a problem with the fan or sometimes the hard drive. If you fix the problem then the computer is usually fine. Although if you leave it unfixed then a more serious issue can occur.
Thanks for the video. My HP fan runs incessantly and I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong in terms of vents, blockages, overheating, etc. It just makes a constant white noise-style hum that is unbearable. I just about resigned to buying a replacement fan.
Like the video, never had a problem with a fan on my HP labtop, .Dell Inspiron another story,, different video topic:) Dell and HP certified too?? CVs coming along well I bet
Can I find out what version my fan is without taking it apart? I have a HP pavilion 15 cc5xx. Ive taken it apart 3 times today, cleaning it. I then lubricated it and left it to dry and it still makes the exact noise.
You can usually buy them by the model number on Ebay. Every now and again you will get an incorrect part doing it this way but its usually pretty accurate.
Thank you so much! I almost bought a new computer this week. It wouldn't stay on more than 15 seconds telling me my fan wasn't working. The hairdryer didn't work, dust stayed on. I used a q-tip and blew to get dust off. Put it back together and it came on!! :)
my laptop fan making grinding noise, so i add some lube on the bearing shaft (I'm using 4 stroke engine oil as a lube). now the noise is gone and fan work perfectly, but is it safe for my laptop? or should i using another type of oil?
A lot of manufacturers use some sort of lube on the inside of the fan but what they use varies from computer to computer. The big thing I would watch out for when using any sort of lube is that stays on just the inside of the fan and doesn't get on any of the components.
Thanks for helping guide me through this, this is sure going to help me save money, all I had to do was order a new fan and get it replaced after I receive it. Believe me, my fan was dead and not working. I know it says 5 volts on it. Maybe I could take it out and apply 5 volts just to make sure it's not the motherboard being damaged.
I need the hp spare l51349001 fan. On amazon it costs 50$. Where do you buy the cpu fan? My fan is not working when I blow too strong it makes metallic noises what could be wrong? I opened the fan but I can not see anything wrong. Maybe the mechanic inside is messed up?
eBay is usually way cheaper than Amazon. So I would suggest looking there. The noise could be something stuck on the inside or it could be that the fan itself has something wrong with it.
@@EggheadFixers I never thanked you for the free tutorial! So thank you :) It worked out perfectly. I saved 200 USD and countless days which a repair would have cost me.
so I replaced my fan which is under the heatsink on my 360 envy, Ive gone through two fans from ebay but they begin to make noise when the laptop shifts positions, is it the heatsink, maybe it bent when i took it out? can't figure it out, waiting for a third fan
It could be a bent heatsink. Do you have any cables near it? Sometimes if a cable is up against the fan it can make a noise. Also is the noise coming from the area of the fan or the hard drive? Because the hard drive can make a fan like sound when it's starting to fail due to the spinning disk inside.
I have an HP elitebook 2540p. The fan sporadically makes a sound like a hormet's nest, but is stilll working. It is not easy access to the fan,. Could you point me to a video that shows how to replace the fan in that model? Thank you.
If you just bought it should still be under warranty. You could call it in for warranty repair. You can check your warranty here: support.hp.com/us-en/check-warranty
Is it possible to schedule a zoom with you. I just need help with my HP Z Book Gen 2 Cooling Fan. I want to replace it but Idk if I should take the hardrive out first.
I followed throughout the vid and managed to get the fan cleaned. When I ran my laptop again the noise was gone, but after 3 hours the noise came back Now whenever i turn on my laptop the noise just happens. I saw you talk about high Gear mode that makes the fan run faster or whatever, how do I disable it? I already have a cooling pad and its not a overheating issue as my laptop still has that noise when its cooled
You would have to check in BIOS to see how if the setting is the problem. However that can also be a problem with the fan itself...You may need to replace it all together.
@@EggheadFixers how do I change fan settings in BIOS? I opened that up once and the only options to customize the fan settings were just "fan is always on" and I could disable or enable that that was the only thing there related to the pc fan
@@Inaiko Unfortanately it sounds like your fan settings are rather limited. It depends on what model you have whither or not you can customize the fan setting. It sounds like you may not have these options.
Hi. Last year I've bought an HP Envy 15-ee0003nl (with ryzen 5 4500U) and since the beginning, I've notice an high pitched sound from the fans. Not just the airflow sound, but also that high pitched sound (like a jet turbine)... So I've sent the laptop to HP some months ago and they've replaced the fans (they've wrote that) and it still makes this high pitched sound. It doesn't have overheating problems. It's just that that high pitched sound is loud... Any solution? It is still under warranty, but they'll probably won't fix the laptop... They even said that i can disassembly it under warranty... The problem is that the screws are under the rubber... So not that easy do disassembly...
Some of the more high powered laptop fans can be very loud. If HP said they are working properly then there may not be much you can do as far as replacing the fans goes. Although if you use the laptop with a cooling pad it may help the computer stay cool. That will help the fans not to kick into high gear quite so often.
@@EggheadFixers I almost use the laptop with a stand, so the airflow is high, but like I've said fans makes that sound even at low RPM... It's really a pain because I love it but it is loud when fans kick in... 😔
@@TrioLOLGamers Ya some of the newer HPs have fans that are crazy loud. It's not my favorite design. When I was working as HP Field Technician we got complaints about it all the time.
Hello. I wanted to know what I can do because a few months ago our fan made a lot of noise so we oiled it up but it didn't work so we sent it to a technician and he fixed it. After a few months it started to happen again so what should I do? And where can I get dead pixels on the screen repaired?
Ya unfortunately HPs are notorious for their fan problems. It could be that the technician put in a used part which would explain it breaking so fast or if they did something like clean the fan instead of replacing it. For a dead pixel you can to any local repair shop to get that fixed. If you are looking for a good repair technician we recommend someone that is either HP or A+ certified.
Great video! Short and clear. Computer runs quieter than before it started buzzing. The case did not want to pry apart on mine, but with some coaxing it did.

My brother gave me his HP laptop a while back and he told me something in the computer started rattling and it’s coming more from where the fan is. I don’t think it’s the fan since it’s in relatively good shape ( could be wrong ) but the heatsink that’s going from the fan to the cpu is sticking up. Is it supposed to be like that or is it supposed to be glued down?
Pls i have a similar problem with my Hp pavilion 15-cs0003ca, When it works for some time, then there is this strange noise that it makes at times and it very very loud.. It makes that for sometime then it stops. It has been that for like one month now and i don't know what to do?
Does it happen when the fan turns on? Does it seem to be where the fan is located? Because the hard drive can also make strange noises when they start to have problems.
I have a hp 14ck0518sa and the fan is making a lot of noise I have tried to take the back off by unscrewing the screws but I can’t get the back off. Can you help?
. please answer to my comment i really need help . i have a problem with my hp laptop, 2 days ago i opened it up to see what brand of ram it was using since i couldnt find it on any official hp website, i opened my laptop got the information i wanted and re assembled it all things look normal, after a while when im playing games with my friends i hear a rattling noise coming from the fan and i notice that my laptop is getting really hot, like in 90 c range hot, i did some stress tests since the fan was just fine on idle mode (45-50 c cpu temperature) but under load it got up to 102 c degrees, i think that something is wrong with the balance of the fan because when it makes a lot of noise i kinda pick it up and raise one side and lower the other and the noise disappears
It could be something got jammed in the fan when you opened it up. Like a small piece of plastic could have broken off and fallen in the fan or sometimes wires end up in the wrong spot. Have you tried opening it again to see if anything looks strange or out of place?
I have a question, i have a HP Laptop with a specs of Intel Core i3 5005U 2.0ghz and i looked in the Motherboard model no. and i found one on AliExpress with the same model number and same size. The difference is, it is an Intel Core i7 5500U 2.4ghz with 2GB AMD Radeon R5 Graphics. Can i use that as an replacement of my Motherboard?
Without being able to see it myself it's hard to know but often times you can upgrade the motherboard to a faster one if it was made for the same model computer but you just have to make sure it's the exact same fit.
The system will automatically adjust the speed fans individually and accordingly to provide optimum performance and also prevent overheating. So it can vary how fast it goes. Does it seem like it is not working correctly?
So I had this problem with my laptop, I had the fan replaced but it’s my second day with the laptop after the replacement and it started making the same exact noise. How is that possible that brand new fan is causing the same problem? Did they scam me in the laptop service center?
i bought a new hop laptop pavilion 15, i7 processor. and it makes a really loud high pitched noise. i swapped it out with the same laptop but new. and it sounds the same. is that normal and is there anyway i could fix it?? cause it’s making me insane
A loud fan can be a sign of a problem especially if it is really loud. If you purchased it new then you can call it under warranty and HP will repair it for you.
@@MrSIMBOLOGIA no i was going insane so i returned it. stupid noise. but they say it’s normal cuz it’s so high powered with the i7 that the fan runs loud
It always a risk to take a part a computer if you haven't done it before but it also risky to keep using a computer that the fan isn't working properly. If you are going to take it a part I would look at the computers manual on HP's support page and watch some disassembly videos so you know what you are getting into.
I have a HP Pavilion 15-p091sa laptop and it's fan gets so loud but still the laptop overheats then shuts off. I feel very little air coming out of the side of the laptop. I have already replaced the thermal paste once earlier this year but it has already dried out. The device has an AMD A8 6410 APU with Radeon R5 Graphics
Hey! I've got a HP 15-da0095TX and I think the left hand fan is either clogged or busted. Only issues are; 1. I have a stripped screw (never tried opening the back before, its just stripped?), and 2. I have no idea how the back case comes off, either. Not sure what to do about the screw, as I don't want to damage the case, but also even if I could get it out, I have no idea how to get the back off or if it just needs to be pried open.
You can look up your model on HP.com/support and there will be manual that will tell you how to take it apart. Sometimes using a bigger screwdriver can help with a stripped screw or a pair of needle nose plyers. If you can get the screw off you will most likely need to replace it.
I have HP pavilion 15 cs variant laptop. And when i lift or even slighty move the laptop, the fan makes sound like a bad motor. And when i give a hard tap on the panel on either side(top or flip and top on the bottom) it stops. Not sure what is wrong.

Hi - I purchased an HP 360 10th gen core i7 less than 2 mos ago and have used it for about month. Like others commented, this computer's bottom has felt hot from day one; is this normal? Recently, the fan has been running super fast after the computer has been plugged in for about 10 mins. and won't die down until its unplugged. Not sure if it makes a difference that I'm charging the battery when it's there's less than 5% charge left and the computer is left on. Any advice? Thanks!
if my fan is making a loud noise when turning on the laptop then it is less loud after startup but still has a bit noise ; is this also a case of a fan malfunctioning or could it be something else ?
No sorry we don't but t's actually usually a little bit easier to replace a fan on a desktop. If you look up a disassembly video for your make and model desktop you can replace it pretty easy.
But what if you open up the laptop and there are 3 connections between the upper and the under part? When I lift it more than 40 degrees things are going to break. How can I take it out then?
if you go to HP.com/support you can look up manuals for your model. One of those manuals will show you how to take it apart. Either that or you can look up a disassembly video for your model HP on UA-cam.

I have hp pavilion G6 . It's fan sometimes make noise and sometimes not. But my laptop is running slow . Can you please provide me Reason . When I do simple work it don't get heat whenever I play something it gets heat up

@@jackhammer111 Ya that sounds too loud. Now it's hard to tell from the video is it definitely the fan making that noise? or is there a chance it is the hard drive? Because when a hard drive starts to fail it can also make a loud fan like noise.
Flexing the chassis can bend the fan enclosure. Take it apart, but the cover and case on a glass table top to make sure that it's flat. Try to detect where the fan blades are hitting the enclosure, causing noise. Gently bend to get clearance. Test at each part of reassembly. These fans should be virtually silent. Trial and error, but, now, mine is completely silent while blowing.
It could be a problem with your power cord or battery is causing the computer to work harder when it is plugged in. I would consider replacing the power cord and see if that helps.
I have a HP Envy that was given to me by a friend. It's overheating. I took out all screws, couldn't get the screen hinges removed. @@randel3108It definitely could be that the fans need replacing. That would be my first guess. when you update a computer it puts the computer under strain. But when I pulled up the keyboard, I didn't wait for the video directions to finish their sentence, and I pulled the connector ribbon right out of it. I can't find what I think was the connection piece, I saw it fall, but apparently it landed in a black hole that leads to another dimension, because it is nowhere in that room. Did you hear of others who suddenly started having this problem after windows update. Any thoughts on how to address it ? There is no cat or litter around - it's always set on a wooden desk. thanks in advance
It could be related to the update but sometimes an update can put a computer under strain so if something like a fan is about to break then it does. My guess is if your computer is not overheating then you may need to try replacing the fan.
So my laptop (not sure is it’s the fan but guessing it is) is making a buzzing sound, kinda like the sound something makes if it’s spinning and hitting something flexible, but it’s always ice cold. HP's brilliant engineers married the hinge screw with one of the 2 tiny plastic fan mounts. and the hinge fails then takes the fan out with it. because of either non metal fan mounts or sleeping brain cells by mounting it to the hinge. i'm gonna epoxy the the fan in place . the experts at HP say that it would be a temporary fix...lol. remember if it's designed put into production by hp, it's less than a temporary fix. is it a trillion dollar company yet, and no one there can figure out one that last' as long as the technical parts might. sometimes you gotta get away from the training skills that hp provide, fix the hinge . or a metal housing on the fan, hinges should be only hinges, they're taxed as it is just doing that part.
my fan also makes a very audible low vibration and i cant figure out the cause, replaced fan, oil, padding, i tried everything lol. but i dont really care anymore

I have an hp15sdu laptop and it's just 4 months old and the battery drains in 2 hours even when I'm watching videos offline. My fan runs continuously even when the laptop is idle . Is there any solution to this?
@@EggheadFixers it is probably under warranty, I can't bear the battery drain . It's just too much compared to others. The fan keeps running no matter what
A lot of the problem stems with the actual bearing the fan spins on and HP doesn’t make my particular model removable from the bearing without breaking the fins themselves unfortunately. Would like to relube it rather than order a new one
Actually, I'm quite upset right now because my HP hp15cc665ci has developed a noisy fan for the second time. I'm about to take it apart for the second time in the three years that I've owned. It sounds like it's dragging on something inside the computer. But if it's dirt build-up in the fan it points out a design flaw because I have used compressed air in every way imaginable just try and clear any dirt from the fan. And because it's dragging it's not spinning as fast as it should and speedfan says the core is running as high as a hundred ninety-five degrees which slows down the processing speed. And screaming High definitions up 4K works the processor hard even though it is an 8th generation i7-8550U CPU processor with 16 gigs of RAM.
Ya HP is brutal when it comes to fan problems. In our shop we replace more fans in HPs than we do any other brand computer. You would think they would fix that issue.
@@EggheadFixers I've wondered about that. Right now the core temp is 190 degrees and the fam is only running 1900 RPM's. But I'm not hearing anything right now . As you can see I'm dragging my feet getting it done
@@jackhammer111 Ya it sounds like it may be a problem. HP recommends an average running temperature below 140°F. Cooler temps, in general, are better when it comes to computers. Temperatures between 160°F to 195°F may be a cause for concern.

Great video!
Just wondering: Could it be that the standard fan for this notebook is just above average loud?
In some cases it can be the fan is just louder in some models of HP. It's more of a problem if the fan has gotten louder over time or all of a sudden.
Its noise is stuck in my head 24/7 all the time that's how loud it is lol.

my laptop fan making grinding noise, so i add some lube on the bearing shaft (I'm using 4 stroke engine oil as a lube). now the noise is gone and fan work perfectly, but is it safe for my laptop? or should i using another type of oil?
A lot of manufacturers use some sort of lube on the inside of the fan but what they use varies from computer to computer. The big thing I would watch out for when using any sort of lube is that stays on just the inside of the fan and doesn't get on any of the components.

It could be a bent heatsink. Do you have any cables near it? Sometimes if a cable is up against the fan it can make a noise. Also is the noise coming from the area of the fan or the hard drive?

It could be something got jammed in the fan when you opened it up. Like a small piece of plastic could have broken off and fallen in the fan or sometimes wires end up in the wrong spot. Have you tried opening it again to see if anything looks strange or out of place?

My speaker does the crackling sound when I play audio, in headsets it's okay, can that be a fan problem
If it sounds fine with headphones then it's probably a problem with the actual speakers.
What are the normal fan speeds for an HP Spectre 15-df1033dx?
The system will automatically adjust the speed fans individually and accordingly to provide optimum performance and also prevent overheating. So it can vary how fast it goes. Does it seem like it is not working correctly?

Hi! I own HP Omen 15dc1093tx, and it had a problem with the cooling fan not working (90B) and it is making a high pitch noise whenever I open it, so I always turn it off immediately afraid of ruining it more. I brought it to a laptop repair shop but they don’t know how to operate the device, but they opened the laptop and saw that the fan that is making noise is the one that is working and the other one just stops immediately right after turning on the laptop, what do you think the problem is? Help me pls
So you have on fan that is loud and the over other in not turning on at all? It could be that one fan has died and the other is working twice as hard to cool the whole unit by itself. Does it feel like its overheating?
@@EggheadFixers hey I didnt see u replied, it could be overheating. I use my laptop for online classes and it’s open for like whole day most of the time. I brought it yesterday on the shop I bought it from. They somehow disabled my fan so that it wont force the only fan that was left working and that I could use it still for online classes and they said I should bring it back to them when I’m not busy anymore. They immediately said that the fans are broken. What do you think?
And do you think it is possible that it was caused of the windows update? coz I got an update and I shut it down and then when I iopened it, the high pitch noise started. And then the next morning when I opened it, it says on the screen that the other fan was not working (90B).
@@randel3108It definitely could be that the fans need replacing. That would be my first guess. when you update a computer it puts the computer under strain. We looked for the specific model video to open it up, it only shows two panels that come off. No fan under either panel. No screws anywhere else to remove anymore pieces. I have an idea where the fan should be, near this vent, but no access. I'm about to rip my hair out.
Do you have a hard drive or solid-state drive? Because sometimes a hard drive when it is failing can sound like a fan.
@@EggheadFixers omg yes. It's a hard drive, and only one of the four screws are in it. It doesn't even look like it's connected all the way, but the computer works fine. He just keeps getting a malfunctioning fan alert, and the noise. Do you think that's the issue? I can screw those down.
I created a worse issue, though. I found the fan, under the keyboard. I still can't get to it, because it's underneath the whole frame of the computer, like in between the keyboard and the back panel. I cleaned it as best I could with the canned air. So I ordered a new keyboard, overnight shipping, and tried to attach it. The ribbon just doesn't seem to connect. I tried it a couple of different ways, and nothing.
So, trying to save myself a few dollars by cleaning it myself, I murdered my son's laptop.🥹🥹

It wasnt hot, probably warm at most (even when i shut it down untill its cooling down, then turned it back on just to test the noise in sleep mode, nothing changed), and i dont think i've got any short of fan errors. Aside from when in sleep mode, apparently if the battery was not fully charged, when you shut it down and plug it in to charge it up, it will make those loud fan noise too, untill its fully charge / the battery indicator turn white / i unplug the charging cord.

Ya that sounds like a poor design. Sometimes when I open up computers I just think...who came up with this design? Because it's just so poorly done.

A lot of the problem stems with the actual bearing the fan spins on and HP doesn’t make my particular model removable from the bearing without breaking the fins themselves unfortunately. Would like to relube it rather than order a new one
Ya sometimes adding some lube to the fan is all that you need. Hopefully that will be all you need to do👍
Actually, I'm quite upset right now because my HP hp15cc665ci has developed a noisy fan for the second time.
