I didn't recognize the voices of James and Daisy, however i could 100% recognize Willem Dafoe's voice from a mile away.
They were playing an American couple. So neither of them sounded like themselves.
Not sure that's a great thing.
They payed top dollar for them.

@@Longshotsz They're actors, they act. They do impressions. Sometimes James does a Scottish Accent, sometimes British and a lot of the time, American. It was the directors idea of them being an American couple, most likely because it's based somewhere in America.

I couldn't even recognize that Daisy Ridley and James McAvoy were in this game. That just goes to show how good their American accents are.
They are both good actors. But it's not surprising. Any British actor who wants work would need to nail an American accent.

Once told James was Husband I could hear it especially if you’ve seen Split, and Glass, but I had never heard Daisy’s American accent and I couldn’t even tell it was her, even knowing it’s her I can’t believe that is her voice it’s brilliant she’s a fantastic actress.

I was really analyzing Daisy's performance and there's one or two moments where her default dialect stand out but otherwise she's unrecognizable!

@@geddoe316 Yeah I really couldn't tell it was Mac. Daisy's default dialect came through a bit once or twice but overall, very clean American.
Her vocal coach is mentioned in the credits (near the end). They both did great work to get the dialect down!

I love it when movie actors also play as voice actors in these games which play out in a more cinematic fashion. Games like Until Dawn and Beyond: Two Souls were really great. It truly represents a nice blend between movies and games - resulting in immersive storytelling. The clout of these actors also helps to draw more attention to this genre of games.

It's amazing how he said it's a short game i appreciate that, companies love to stretch their games nowadays to a point where you won't even care to finish it. But this game is basically just a unique experience
I get shocked how many people don't finish games. Even short story games. Numbers are really low, like 20% finish them. So it can be disheartening to put all that effort in, and not many people see it.
@@wkadalie yeah you’re right, most people loses interest in games really quick, some gets interested in another tittles since they keep coming, and others just can’t stop playing call of duty or some other online game, and that’s very concerning because even though those online games are actually fun to play they’re not what we want gaming to be, we want videogames to be better then movies, where creaters implement their art and bring something unique and we enjoy and appreciate that as players (just like gaming in the late 90s) we should appreciate the efforts they make and not the money we give to them on daily basis.

That being said, while having played adventure games and loved them in the past i also play games like fifa, wow, cod etc. I agree with a short to medium duration for most narrative driven games otherwise its really easy to lose interest.
@@The86Ripper yeah story driven games don’t need to be long or else people might just lose interest, i think the reason why games with long story are getting boring is the witcher 3... think about it, the witcher 3 came out and it had a very long story with also two long expansions with blood and wine being almost the length of the base game and ever since people started to say things like «it’s gonna give you a lot of hours of fun and engaging story» the thing is, in the case of the witcher that line was true, the game was fun from start to finish... the problem is that the companies started to notice that and they thought “oh lets make our games extra long, gamers seems to love it” with ubisoft being the leader, every game after the witcher 3 came out started to get boring right after almost 60% of story progression. FFXV, watch dogs 2, ac origins and odyssey and valhala recently (they never learn) DAI, Mass effect amdromeda and a lot more, the exception would be nier automata and red dead. They need to stop stretching these games because not anyone can make a long game that keeps being fun throughout the whole story

Seeing corykenshin the shogun himself play this game was wild. The plot twists was wild. But the fact that all this time mcavoy and Ridley were the voice actors aside from dafoe, just wild! I’m amazed that it was them the entire time. But man, Luis Antonio and all the other creatives involved need to do movies. Because he made the plot twists that shamylan only wished he could do (that’s no shade to him). But man, amazing!
Nah. Plenty of great filmmakers out there already. These people made an excellent game and I hope they continue to do so

Daisy is just impressive. Just prove that regardless of medium, she's a phenomenal actress and hopefully she gets more high profile projects like Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan and Zendaya.
Also, would love to see her voice a Persona or Tales of protagonist, that would be fantastic.

Willem Dafoe is such a genius. But it's amazing just how well Daisy and James performed in this game its almost impossible to recognize them just by playing it. It's incredible.

The whole time watching the game played by CoryxKenshin. All I'm imagining was the actor playing the character like it's a movie instead of hearing the voice only, because it feels so real. They did such a great in this game and the storyline is just absolutely *GENIUS* to me!

I personally think despite their great performances, the budget for the game could have been far better spent on other things. A voice cast not comprised of big name actors and instead a great, but not so well known lineup of voice actors. Then that money and those resources could have been used elsewhere. It would have been a better game instead of what was a disappointment to me, despite the enjoyment I found from the beginning of the game.
@@thec-m I think it works really well for what it tries to deliver. Voice acting is ESSENTIAL for such a game. Flashier graphics or bigger length wouldnt really offer much imho, quite the contrary-it could get boring. Tbh what could be done better is if they had some branching paths on key momments so you didnt have to replay the loop just to change part of it, but even then there were little details around the rooms etc and even on the dialogue that makes it worth it.
@@The86Ripper - I didn't mean that voice acting wasn't important, just that spending a lot of the budget to hire three big name actors for it wasn't a good use of resources. Their performances would of course be great, but that doesn't mean they couldn't find someone who could deliver an equal or even better performance without hiring big names.
I honestly had a lot of excitement for this game ever since I heard about it a few years ago. Been waiting for it for a while. I enjoyed it at the start, but it left me feeling disappointed.
The game was actually pretty short, which I guess should be expected for a game called 12 minutes, but it didn't offer enough. The story was a letdown that just followed cliché after cliché with uncreative twists. I understood the ending and it took away from the experience of the game, making it all for nothing. In the end you're left just recreating the same events and using the new snippet of knowledge just to move forward, instead of something really new happening. When it went back in time, outside of the loop, that was something different.
There weren't enough things to do or any choice in ways you could approach a situation, just one way to do it really. And as much as there were different ways to end the loop and two other slightly different endings, the true ending negates that.
I don't know. It just wasn't what I hoped for. I didn't have a problem with repeating myself, it is a time loop after all, but more things to change in those loops would have been nice. Even seeing other characters like the neighbours (without leaving the flat ofc).
I always has enormous respect for Willem Dafoe. He's the very definition of a hard-working actor. So underrated. It's just a job for him and never about being a celebrity. And Ridley I don't blame her for playing Rei. Again, it's just a job in the business. Her acting is nice to digest and I always wanna see her working. McAvoy--what can I say, he's just that good. Job or no job, he excels it.
I was actually surprised by how much I liked this game. I didn’t know it was Daisy or James until after first playing!! The voice acting is 👌👌

I'm having trouble exploring the game further , I've done the forgetting ending (which by the way seems heavily inspired by oldboy 2003) I've done the just leaving the wife and going to the empty apartment and Ive made the cop not come and went to have sex with the wife . @@pyrefly7575 hey there 😃 there is one ending where you have to click on the red book, but then afterwords you have to click on the clock. But I was not able to get that one. I got the regular forget ending. That one is called “continue” I think. I am not sure, but I think i did something wrong, maybe I got the timing not right.
Phenomenal voice acting from all actors but Daisy Ridley in particular. I heard She was voicing one of the characters in the game and at first genuinely thought "oh damn they must have replaced her with someone else"... It's not just the accent but the tone, dialect etc. 10/10 performance
Daisy's VA was so good. Couldn't tell it was her at all. I could tell it was James's voice at certain parts, but it was still good

I find it so weird that when I see them do their lines, even with my eyes closed I can clearly tell its James and Daisy, but in the game? Their voices sound really different!

It's always amazing how they can change the voice and accents so well. At first I didn't even realise it was Daisy and James voicing the characters.
It's also makes me fuzzy inside seeing a Portuguese dev on the spotlight.

This proves Daisy Ridley can actually act. It's the awful writing and directing of Star Wars that made her look like crap, but she's not.
Agreed. It's a shame Daisy Ridley got stuck with a Mary Sue character without depth or any development. The pathetic reveal in episode IX, as JJ said, needed another episode, if not another trilogy. But alas, whoever in charge for the Star Wars division in Disney just didn't understand the audience or ethos they were dealing with.

-- Rey was never a no one. Rian Johnson himself said that after TLJ came out. And the Rey nobody answer that Kylo gave was based on incomplete information. The same way that Rey told Kylo he would not bow before Snoke.

This game eradicates the border between movie and interactive experience. The story would be a good movie, yeah, and as a narrative game it would be interesting. But the twist with the time-loop, forcing me to take new information and apply it to a potential progress in the story makes it a step further from "edge of tomorrow" or "SOMA" or similar. I felt like watching a brilliant movie after completing this, and while playing I felt deeply involved in the story. It wouldn't feel as great without me thinking about thinking or examining the next move.
I think Annapurna did great and can't wait for their next title - whatever the (plat)form they choose!
Music, artstyle, voice performance, lighting, animation - the hard trivial work - I rate AAA. Much work into detail into every area, and everything feels compelling.
My final reflection: if the goal is to make the border between movie and interactive experience vanish, mission complete. At the the same time I go to the cinema for breathtaking images in large scale. Sure, I have a big enough TV for playing xbox, but the images in Twelve Minutes won't bring me LOTR-moments from a hundreds by hundreds inch screen. So maybe, and this is just my thoughts, this is more as if a book and a game had a baby? And this baby is PERFECT!
For someone who loves books and games, I totally fell in love with this one. These type of games is what I wish for.
The best storytelling video game in 2021. This game deserves an award for sure.

Super ambitious, and compelling game. Couldn't put it down. Sure it's not perfect, there is a little tedium in the gameplay and some of the dialogue doesn't flow very well. But overall have to applaud anyone who pushes the medium forward like this. Really memorable experience.

James McAvoy and Daisy Ridley working together = cool! James McAvoy has done voice work before. He was the voice of Hal Tara in Strings. Gnomeo in Gnomeo and Juliet and Arthur Christmas in Arthur Christmas. People should give Daisy Ridley break and stop giving her shit about playing Rey in Star Wars and leave her alone. She's a good actress and I think she would had made a fantastic Lara Croft.

I've been playing the game for... 10 hours? And I see some options here that never occurred in my gameplay... Wow... I thought this was going to be a short game, but it turns out it has a great number of possibilities to explore.
I gotta say, the acting in this was phenomenal in my opinion.
So many things to be fascinated about this BTS video. From the fact how Ridley and McAvoy's can do really convincing American accents, how the three voice-actors are so good with projecting emotions through their microphones, and how an indie game company built this game during a pandemic and movement restriction order.
I love daisy, I hope she gets more projects soon

I just completed the game today. Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece of a game. Then finding out all my favorite actors were doing the voiceover is a cherry on top.
Just pre order it thinking it came out today, looking forward to playing when it comes out.
So I got to a point where I found something out and was like "aha! A twist! That's cool" then as I kept playing the BIG twist happened and I was like "holy shit!!!! Omg!!!" it's such a fantastic moment and the game builds to it so well. If you're a patient gamer then I really recommend this x

As for one who appreciates thought-provoking storytelling in games, I confess that couldn't stop playing until going through all the endings (tip without spoilers: go after the "mindfulness ending" - the very last one - to get the whole picture of the story... and pay attention to minor details to understand it completely).
