Hi I'm 53 years old and have never seen this game myself, must say the shape of it looks like, the USS Enterprise from Star Trek lol. Mick, Northern Ireland 👍🍻
Hi Mick, I'm about the same age and don't remember it either. But agree with the star trek styling. I don't think it was a huge success as I only see one other video in UA-cam and that's in Japanese. Welcome from Northern Ireland, hope all is well there. Thanks for your comments

Hi Steve, thank you very much for your kind words. I definitely will keep it up. I have WAY too much stored retro-tech waiting repair to stop now! More is coming but I do work a real job full-time though, so sorry if it takes a while to get the vids out. Thanks for taking the time to feed back. It makes huge difference to me.
Thanks Tomorrowsphere glad you found the video entertaining and informative. Thanks also for your longstanding continued support to the channel. Appreciate it.

Thanks @Giedralas. So glad you enjoyed the video. I agree it is an interesting game, great styling and deserving of a better fate than landfill. Thanks so much for your comments.
Thats great Stewart, so glad you like the content. I am keen to keep stuff out of landfill. OK so this isn't going to replace somebody's Nintendo Switch, but hopefully will provide a bit of fun for someone. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Genuinely appreciate it.
Thanks @MrVectrexUK really appreciate the feedback. I haven't seen one of these either, in fact I found only one other video of it on UA-cam ... perhaps it has a huge following and will make me a superstar! or perhaps not. Glad you enjoyed the vid. Thanks for taking time to comment.
Thanks Karl, I am glad that you enjoyed the video. I enjoy repairing the old stuff, for me this is era is the sweet spot, not too complicated for home repair with basic tools, but hopefully still interesting. Seems odd nowadays to buy a whole new device just to play a different game. How things change. Thanks so much for your comments. I genuinely appreciate you taking time to give feedback.
I'll start by saying MORE PLEASE! Hadn't heard of this game, really love the unusual design and you did an excellent repair and restoration, great work. I laughed at your capacitor comment, I've seen a few heated debates about whether a working Vectrex should be re-capped or not! 😁
Thanks @skyway73 so glad you enjoyed it. I'll keep my eyes open for some more obscure stuff. I like to leave a little funny in there from time to time (when and if they come to me) I used to edit them out, but now I just think what the heck. The capacitor debate is an interesting one I know they do deteriorate, but I still don't usually routinely replace them. I have something on the bench now that I suspect has a cap issue, it will be interesting to see what the problem is when I open it up. Anyway, again, thanks so very much for your continued support to the channel. As you know I really do appreciate it. I look forward to your comments and value your opinion. Thanks
Thanks @em_being, you are in the right place. I like to repair random stuff and although I do a lot of handelds so I hope you stick around to enjoy. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Appreciate it
Ever thought to do a tutorial specific to old electronic repair? Meaning, types of gear you use from electronics to cleaning, tips, etc.. For example, I see so many settings on that multimeter, but I imagine you only need/use a few? I was thinking of dabbling in something like this myself if I found some busted devices on the cheap, but wouldn't know where to begin or how much electrical knowledge is required.
Hi wishiywas1984. I have thought about it, but am starting to think seriously about something along those lines. Following your comments I'll bump it up the list. You are correct on the multimeter, all those setting look daunting but I only use a few, the meter itself is nothing fancy, I got it from B&Q although there are probably better ones out there for a similar price. Thanks for your detailed feedback it will really help me shape the channel.
I can only echo what the others have said, love the video, great result after that initial disappointment (had plenty of those myself!) I reckon keep a good mix of obscure and mainstream gadgets and don't worry if a fix is a failure, there can always be a follow up video if you manage to fix it at a later date. Overall though, feature things that you're interested in. Let us know what tools you're using and what you think of them/where you got them. Thanks for another quality video 😊
Thanks Matthew, glad that you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your detailed thoughts and comments. I'm glad that you enjoy the mix, sometimes it's driven by things I've searched for sometimes obscure things I have happend across or just seen at a dood price. I haven't featured fails much, but believe me I do have plenty of footage (that's why sometimes it takes me a long time between videos) something to think about. I like idea of a how to and equipment vids. I'm not an expert, but happy to share. Thanks again. Great ideas
Glad you found me. I'm a total amateur at this so I'm sure there are more envigorating and exiting channels but I keep trying new things so hopefully you will see some improvements as we go along. Thanks so much for joining me on the journey.
Yes this has more than a passing resemblance to the starship enterprise - star trek. Sorry, I'm a geek too! ha ha ha. I also loved the comedy moment when you first switched it on after repair 'and nothing'... that tone of disappointment was like the audio equivalent of puppy dog eyes. I had to chuckle. Good job tho, I think you are enjoying the restore work as much as the repair ;)
I like to leave a little funny in from time to time if I can. I think Star Trek too, the design choice makes it quite tiring to play as there is a lot of weight toward the top when you hold it. One person commented that they thought it was a like an astronaut in space suit, but that led to some unpleasant of "joy" "stick" connotations so we left that one. Thanks again for your comments.
Good luck it's a fun game and a great looking design. I found it a bit top heavy to play for long periods, but at least I wanted to play it for those long periods. Stop back and let me know how you got along. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your kind feedback.
Hi again. Managed to remember & take my multimeter home😂 right away I found the 1st diode you checked maybe my problem. One direction I'm getting 0.6 but the other I'm getting 2.1 😲 Do you think this is the culprit?@@RetroTechRepair... Update, I isolated the diode & it's reading are normal, so checked the transistor c1383 & got the same results you did so I'm going to order 1 & try.🤞🏼
Great... I was going to suggest that, testing parts in circuit is a bit hit and miss, it depends on the circuit design whether other parts affect the outcome of an in circuit test. Anyhow, good luck with the repair. Hope the transistor fixes it
@@RetroTechRepair received a new C1383 transistor today, however the code on it is different. It still has C1383 but instead of “R 9D” it has “Y 3AL” & is slightly smaller. Do you think this is incompatible?
@@h4rpo1 I'd guess it's just the date code and the size difference is just a different manufacturer or newer part. I'm no expert but If it were mine I'd probably try it.
Glad you enjoyed it. I keep my eyes out for different things and occasionally import things from Japan and the US. Hopefully there will be more stuff you enjoy. Thanks so much for your comment. Much appreciated.
Thanks darkshijima so glad you enjoyed the repair. The polish is a 3 stage 1st an aggressive car colour restorer (I used conventional tcut) then a milder colour restorer (I used tcut metallic) then a wax either car wax or a furniture polish. It's not quite as good in person as it appears on the video. It takes a lot of polishing. A Dremmel was too fast but I might try a drill or something some day. Hope that's useful. Thanks again for your comment.
Today I learned that people in (I assume) the UK use double sided tape to hold their number plates on their cars. Here in the US we actually use screws or bolts.
HI Matt, I am in the UK, but I lived in the US for close to 20 years, up until a couple of years ago. License or Number plates are one of many things that divide our great nations. Unlike the US (or at least unlike PA) the licence plate on a UK car usually stays with it through its entire life and does not change if the car changes state or owner. Consequently there is no need to unbolt it and it can remain bonded to the car. How they are attached is a matter of preference. Standard plates do not have holes pre-drilled. Some chose to screw or bolt the plate on, but some prefer the aesthetic of a "seamless look" so chose instead a non-visible fixing. Perhaps interestingly the tape I have was to attach a plate to my '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ. Even when attaching a plate to Detroit's finest, some of us prefer not to have, bolts showing. Thanks for your comments. Great to have some US representation. Hope that you enjoyed the video
@@RetroTechRepair There are a few states where the license plates stay with the car (I believe Alabama is one of them unless they've changed it lately) but yes, the standard here in the US is that they are changed with each new registration of the car (either sale to someone else, or moving to a different county or state). States also occasionally change the design of their plates (along with the format of the letters and numbers on them) and make older plate styles invalid after a certain time. I think part of the disconnect between the UK and the US on this is that plates are managed at the state level rather than at the federal level. States in the US are much more analogous to individual countries in the EU than most people realize, so they have complete autonomy in how they license drivers and register cars. Oh, and yes, I enjoyed the video. :-)
Hi Matt, Yes I agree. As a (former) European living in the US, I had often made the same analogy that the states had autonomy in the way EU countries do. Glad you enjoyed the vid :)
