A tip I discovered for this method, if the lace is still curling more than you'd like for the application at hand after you've tried to stretch it straight by hand, you can lightly wet the lace by running a damp cloth over it, loop it over a curtain rod, and tie the ends to something with a little weight like a tool or water bottle or whatever. Let it hang for an hour or so and it'll come off straight as an arrow.
Damn, I tried so hard the wrong way. Your videos saving so many butts out there. Thank you Weaver!!!
Just bought thank you, Chuck for awesome demonstrations, with flair
Thank you, so glad the videos are helpful!
Great timing! I gust got one yesterday and was wandering how to use it. Thanks a lot
Wow 🤩 my jaw dropped !!!
Thank you for sharing it
Great video! Thanks for showing us how to make lace.
That was so satisfying. I need that tool!
Very informative video from Weaver. I just got one of these to make leather lace for my projects. I didn’t know you could spin it upside down like that. I’m going to try that!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, I have one of these. After trying to make this gadget work (incorrectly), I tossed it in my pencil jar. I'm going to follow your video and finally make some lace! Thank you so much Chuck!
I have used this lace cutter for a while now and didn't realize there were two slots for the blade, thanks.
hey chuck use mine quite a lot on my projects have a good 4th !! :)
Slick. I bought the bench mounted one after seeing your demo video on it, so you know where I'm going next. Edit: Ordered a pair to have one set at each width.
This is fantastic! Thank you for making it!
Merci beaucoup pour vos vidéos formidables, et très instructives.
J'aime tout, et je vous suis depuis la France. Like👍👍👍
Merci beaucoup

Thank you!
Wow, that's a cool tool!
I follow your channel but thought this was about "leather lace" as in frilly stuff - I LOLd when I realized it was about leather lacing (see what I did there?). Thanks for doing these - love your channel.
VERY cool tool, btw.
I like that!!! I have the bench mount lace maker you used for the impossible braid bracelet, and I love it but this is a really nice tool. Thank you for sharing. I am starting a new project making slippers for my 1 year old niece. I have patterns but a video covering that would be nice. I haven't do e any foot wear yet. So a little intimidated. When these turn out I want to scale up for adult size
That's awesome, hope the slippers turn out great!
That was satisfying to watch!
And that's why we reiterate that playing it over and over again backwards and forwards isn't for a light hearted whatever person...
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, Great Job Chuck, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
I bought one of these gadgets and it didn't come assembled and there are no instructions with it! So thanks for showing how to insert the blade and use the tool. Love your channel!
Gracias 👍
Thank you for this video!
Glad it was helpful! You're welcome
You are the man
Holy smokes! Too easy!!
My next tool
great video. one of those tools you didnt know you need until you see how great it is. lol
Hello again from Down Under, Chuck. A request if I may- I'm waiting on delivery of a side of leather which I intend to use to make a heavy blacksmith apron. I want to use a fairly wide Y strap down to a cross piece on the back rather than a simple strap around my neck. Apparently the Y strap transfers a lot of the weight to your hips rather than your neck. I would love to see your take on this- and I need you to show me how to do it:) What say you Oh Wise One? :) Thanks mate. Jay.
How can one cut very tiny thin straps of thin leather like deer? For fringe crafts for example or thin braiding
Hey Chuck, can you do a video on sewing a veg tan tool pouch inside out and turning it right side out?
Hi Jesse,
We do not have a video on this, but we can definitely mention it to Chuck. To sew and turn veg tan leather, you'll have to use a pretty light weight unless its a softer or milled veg tan. Especially if the bag is small.
Молодец
Wow, that thing is pretty sweet. If I have long thin scraps can this tool cut shorter lengths of lace in straight lines?
It looks like you could do that
Hi Nathaniel,
For straight straps we recommend one of these tools:

The lace maker cuts best using the method in the video.
@@WeaverLeatherSupply thank you
Hi Chuck, do you post to Australia? how much are the replacement blades?

Yes, we do ship to Australia - the replacement blades are out of stock right now but we will link them below. They are $4.10 per pack of 10. www.weaverleathersupply.com/catalog/item-detail/65-6264/skife-knife-replacement-blades/pr_5098
I bought the other lace cutter because I was told that one was not very good at cutting lace at all boy was I lied to
Question for the leather element: How can you dye leather grey? I am trying for gun metal and slate. I can find grey paint but can't find grey leather dye. Thank you.
Hi there,
Unfortunately I don't have a good answer for you on this. I'm not aware of any gray dyes available and the reason being is because there is no white dye. Acrylic is going to be your best bet for this.
Could.we get a leather element discussing how to harden leather?
All you need is you kitchen oven. Wet your leather, place it in you over on the middle rack and set your oven for 350 degrees and set your timer for 30 minutes. The leather is going to be VERY HOT so use an oven mitten 7:19 to take it out. The bigger problem, explaining to your wife why the oven smells like cooked leather until the smell wears off. Hence, your food may taste like cooked leather. Good luck with that!
Can you dye a darker leather to a lighter color?
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately using a lighter dye color on a dark leather will dye it darker or the color will stay the same.
Can you cut rawhide with this tool
It would have to be wet ad even then it would make it tough to control so it's probably not going to work very well for rawhide
Probably the most frustrating tool to use. I don't know why it's not working. It will cut around 3cm lace but it doesn't pull through as it cuts off. I'm using leather 2mm thick.
why do I hear Georgie Cooper from Young Sheldon lmao
i TRYED AND TRYED AND THROUGH IT IN THE TRASH IT A WAST OF MONEY 2 OR 3 INCH CRAP
Show me that with deer leather, because it’s definitely not that easy and doesn’t work for me.
