@@Quaz7007 understandable. Malayalam Cinema does use background scores alot, but when compared with Other Indian Industry Song are very less, music is also very less. Anyways this was a good review. A Movie like this doesn't usually do well at the Box office, and are aiming for awards but this was both critically and commercially successful. One of the highest grossing Malayalam movies of the year
As a malayalee myself, I do agree that until the 2010s, we were heavily reliant on scores, and in fact, I find it highly manipulative in spoon feeding the emotion to the audience. That said, there are some exceptional malayalam movies that use it very well. The TV soaps are a perfect example... It's absolute torture
You are missing out a lot of good movies from Malayalam. And yes Blessy have very good movies, especially critically acclaimed which he has directed, Thamatra, Kazhcha, Pranayam, etc. to name a few
If he can't digest goat life ,how will he survive watching thanmatra. Its gut wrenching. One of the few movies I skip watching when it comes up on TV, along with kireedom , chenkol and aakashadhothu
A very good review must say. You have noted small points even. This is a true story based movie and Najeeb is still alive. Period is early seventies and gulf dream got into minds of people speaking Malayalam.. Music is done by Oscar winner Pookutty. Sure the movie is painful to watch and for us it is a realisation of the suffering of generation which elevated our society to world level.
I never believed I would be watching these kind of films. I am a truly Hollywood classic guy. It's been an incredible experience, especially getting to interact with all of the viewers.
AR Rahman's composition was great in this film and i loved it, but there is no need to put the background score in each scenes. He just overdone it. Sometimes silence will give more impact on emotions.
Ibrahim is a mystical character - a mirage, potentially the spirit of a dead traveller (same situation as Najeeb) who acts as a messenger in the dessert. It is reflected in him not leaving any footprints. And he noy experiencing the effects of the dessert like Hakeem and Najeeb. However he knew alot about the dessert because he himself did not get out. In Arabic and Indian culture there are tales of messengers. I love the inclusion here. I also think it left it to us to interpret I do think this movie is meant for an art-house crowd
@@Quaz7007 there is certain time limit to show that stuff so u should probably read the copyright rules , u can probably do trailer reaction without copyright issue . I am pretty sure u wont get copyright on trailer reaction videos and stuff .
This movie doesn't justify to its original novel story... I feel. As you said AV is good, but An average boring movie! And totally overhyped n overrated!🤮
@6:56 Ibrahim his character name name was Ibrahim. in the movie we find out his fate but in the book it is not made clear.
It's Interesting how you find Music as an annoying part in Malayalam when Malayalam is one of the only Industry that uses very minimal Music
It's like Christopher Nolan films, I never like music all the way through.

Thank Rahman for the enthusiasm

Check out 'Najeeb & Prithviraj: Real and Reel Journey', the actor interviews the real guy.
I saw a clip of it on UA-cam. Najeeb is still pained by his experience. Obviously.

Wow, I never noticed the footprint thing. Now that is an interesting take. Makes more sense now. Thanks.
They underplayed a lot from the book
A few people have said that. Can you give me an example? Just curious.
