Being a Data Scientist and Data engineer myself, I agree with most of the things Tanay said. But there is a misconception that AI and Data Science are the same thing. I agree that in India there are very few jobs for AI engineers, since it's a highly research based job. But there are a good number of jobs for Data Scientists,( still not as much as software engineers). And yes, Data Scientist is also a high barrier job. I'd recommend if you wanna get into Data Science, try getting hired as a Data Engineer first, then make a transition if you like to.
I bet you are neither data scientist nor data engineer. Bcz being a data engineer i can say that you cannot be both. And who the hell said that data engineer is entry level job ? Dude, just search entry level data engineer job and you will find how many are there. Also, Data science is hyped term created by bootcampers where the all work is already being done by BI analyst, data analyst etc. Data scientist is misleading post. Also if you are talking about predictive modeling part of DS, then yes it is very much connected to AI. You cannot separate Data and AI.
4 years ago, everyone said AI and ML was just a phase and it will be over just like blockchain technology. 3 years ago, everyone said AI models were still too weak to handle basic engineering tasks 2 years back, ChatGPT was also called a phase and now we have all the FAANG companies making their own LLMs to provide services(APIs) to smaller companies so that not everyone has to go through the hassle of building their own language model for their own specific tasks. RAG is coming about which makes integrating LLMs to your tasks even more easier. I also dont belive AI is going to take jobs, rather it will require newer people to use this fascinating technology to be integrated with the existing product. Stop making it seem as if a career in AI is a bad thing, career in any tech domain is just as difficult as this
True . In reality UI jobs are easily going to be replaced . Even Chat GRP can easily create HTML , CSS and Javascripts and with time it is only going to get better.

He is stating very true facts. Most people underestimate the demand for fileds like UI, Distributed processing and database management. Even devops with cloud specialization is a great option.
Ai is here to stay so is programming....but due to huge research in nlp and nlu, coding can get automated and suppress the demand of developers....so is data sciences or any other field which has pattern....my believe is future of coding lies in personal level encryption of code, so that large language model couldn’t get the logic of coding pattern or underlying data....Elon musk has hinted towards such futuristic need and this will lead towards math is all you need scenarios....so maths is the king

Our university forces students to publish research paper from 2nd year. So when you reach 4th year, you need to publish total 3 research paper in 2nd, 3rd, 4th year, to pass in exam. And the interesting thing is every faculty will force to make research paper in data science and AI even if you don't know anything about that field. I can totally relate with your saying.
I did the same thing with my final year project. Although I'm from electrical engineering domain, I still managed to add a bit of AI even in my project. Plus appending "using Artificial Neural Network" to your project title sounds amazing.

I am a Tech Lead in Machine Learning (12 years of XP) and yes you need to work really really hard to get a proper ML job. Businesses are not ready yet to embrace the full potential of Machine Learning. Entry level Data Scientist...you will be just as good as support to senior data scientists. You need to master these things : 1. Mathematics 2. Programming (You need to be absolutely be able to do at least 50% of what a software engineer does) 3. Business Acumen ( Oh boy, you will be surprised how important is domain knowledge, it will make or break your model) 4. Communication skills (Written + Verbal, You have to talk and talk and talk) 5. Machine Learning 6. MLOps 7. Databases This is a small list of things you need to MASTER...not just know. Tanay is absolutely right. You need to super duper into Mathematics, if you hate Maths you are not going to survive + your inter-personal skills are going to be put to stress test. Do this instead if you really want to be in ML, learn MLOps + Software engineering.
Hi, I am a BI developer and whatever you said is 100% correct after talking, reading blogs, analysis etc. I see lot of my friends easily making good money in Software dev than AI. What's your thoughts on data engineering?
Hi Overlord, I work in Amazon & work in a Spanish language profile & want to learn Power BI so that can move to other field within the same company. Could you please guide me how should I start it? will my grads (BA English) create issues?
The best way is to learn something that puts you inside the market and then you will see you have to increase your tech stack. Learn Frontend do an Internship then learn Backend with the internship then grab a job learn DevOps then give yourself at least 2 years to sharpen your market presence and quality of work/code after all this shit grab a skill of language which provides you with something new in your life. Rust Go Python anything and learn a thing which can integrate with your full stack technologies it could be automation, AI, web 3, scraping anything. That's how I think, will this approach be good or need any refinement?
I would still prefer to go on the AI side because in my opinion in the future AI will have more jobs and I am going to be enrolling myself in a university this year and since there will be 4 years in waiting, I think at some time like that there will be far more jobs in AI and in my opinion UI might be like its a thing that everyone can do and that skill might lose its value and there will be a situation in which there will be more people then jobs in that field, No doubt you can be better at it and work harder for it but same can be done while studying an AI, its all about your hard work, passion and interest in a particular field. I wish you all that you achieve the best in your life and be a better person. Inshallah

Yes, at my college, the faculty has made it mandatory for final-year students to develop major projects in the AI/ML domain and publish a research paper on them. We are also required to mention the project guide’s name in the research paper that we are forced to publish. They make it seem like building webapps using MERN stack is easy and not suitable for a final-year project, whereas using Python libraries and importing predefined functionalities actually seems less work when creating an AIML project

Agreed with your thoughts about why not to be AI engineer but the UI devlopers can be replaced easily in long term Also it's so easy to go in UI so that there are many people going there
Ai doesn't mean only python and its libraries it is for all languages and analytics for all fields. Mark my words weather you are web developer, android developer, flutter, etc. You need to learn artificial intelligence and machine learning in your mastered languages. Not only python as other called. If you get as web developer or ui or other don't be feared It is also good.
@@ChinmayK10that's why imo at least knowing basics to advanced of AI and prompt engineering and some certificates and courses can be beneficial. You can use AI more efficiently or when jobs in this field in India will rise, you can get a job. Just don't put your eggs in one basket.
Sir, nowadays there are open-source design tools, applications, and websites available that allow for elegant design creation in a shorter span of time. What's interesting is that all these technologies are based on artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML). I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter.
Hi sir, I have a doubt, what about ai giving out ui pages based on text prompts? When I saw chatgpt writing code, I was speechless, I thought what is the limit? Then I saw neural networks designing and writing frontend code, I was shocked! And I am a software engineer who works with C. I thought how tough will it be for AI to detect bugs in the code if its been provided the whole codebase and trained well? Is it not possible? I can understand that AI wont give perfect solution, so it will be supervised by software engineers only, but the required workforce demand will decrease and that for researchers on AI will increase. Thats why I am thinking of switching to AI research now. Please let me know if I am wrong somewhere
You don't need 4 engineers to build a Desktop, iOS, Android and web app. Hybrid frameworks like Flutter and React native enable you to do this once and it works everywhere seamlessly.
Tanay you're 100% right, These new devs are really blind to AI/ML/DS. Even non-tech people doing these courses just to enter the IT ecosystem, without understanding the fundamentals of CS. There is always high demand for Software Engineer, and whatever new trend comes industry always preferred Software Engineer who is strong with fundamantals.
I'm a student, sorry to ask silly question but i understand AI (artificial intelligence)/ ML(machine learning) / but what is DS ?? and @vrushal raut by strong fundamentals do you mean the subjects like Operating System, Database Management System, Data Structure and Algorithms, etc.
Since you read all comments and respond, I would really want you to see this and comment your views. Like there is this role called Data and Applied Scientist at Microsoft. What they do on a day to day basis is not really tagging/labelling images, but rather implement actual papers in PyTorch/Python/JAX/Julia/R and then build end to end pipelines and also deploy them on azure separately or integrate their models in some Microsoft Product. They also sometimes publish patents and papers in very good conferences. Again, this is much better reality than what you described in the video. Some small/mid-scale startups like LimeChat/Haptik or even Swiggy/Flipkart do involve model building and designing new algorithms/models as well. What are your thoughts?
Hello bhaiya, I watched your video's in which you said backend as a service will decrease backend job. But bhaiya currently i am working in backend on spring boot also i am good in dsa. I am ready to learn Frontend and devops also. But i am worried what you told about backend you said we have to create 1 api in back-end and for ui we have to make ui for desktop, Android, web and iOS. So can you please tell being in backend is good for me or i should go for front end learning also considering my carrier. I am asking this because just learning basic on anything is good to start but to go into depth we need to have real time experience in it. So currently i have depth in back-end but doing a side way hustle for front end learning is what i am confused. Can you please suggest you view in it. Also i am currently a java developer. Any views on future of Java.

Agree with the point that tagging is not an AI job. But it's something that you can do if you have very basic idea of computer science. I don't know why he is even including annotation jobs here. Choose UI, backend or IOT or cloud and just be good at python or JS. This way you can nail many things as demand changes. And don't run behind DSA from the beginning.
Although there's a lot of merits into what he just said, there's a certain bias that I saw in this video. I have been working as a data scientist for a Startup, have published 2 research papers (decent research papers) in this field and yes. While the general learning curve and mathematics requirements are quite high to crack a data science role, but in the end (unless it's data labelling level grunt role) a genuine data science role is equally rewarding as well. After having adequate research experience and professional experience. In my honest opinion, data science (or it would be more accurate if I call it data analysis) shouldn't be pursued as the primary career goal but rather, it shouldn't be looked at as a skill that will complement your primary skills/career/field. For example, someone working in the biomedical field can learn and jse DL/ML tools to set themselves apart and add more value than their counterparts, same can be said for fields like Finance, Real Estate, Cyber Security, UI Web Development, Recommendation engines etc. To conclude, data science is not a hoax or a bad field to get into, it's just that general data science curriculum is very complicated and it is equally difficult to apply it to various field and it should therefore, be looked at as a complimentary skill (one should also strive to learn the scope and be able to implement its subject specific application) as that surely adds tremendous value to your candidature. If possible one should look at ways they can incorporate these skills into their resume and skillset. Hope this was helpful
What if, in future UI work will also get automated by some AI tool like if we present a mockup to that tool and it will generate the whole code in you preferred UI framework Don't know if that is possible today or not
You are very much right. I am a data scientist myself and every now and then I come across lots of resumes which have lots of certifications/research papers etc but they tend to fail miserably in interviews. I then realised that there are 2 kinds of people. First are those who think AI is all about using existing libraries on the datasets. Second are those who think an AI career can save them from learning DSA/microservices/LLD/HLD etc. Freshers need to realise that it's really tough and nightmarish to actually solve the real world problems using NLP , CV etc and alot of times you need to tweak the algorithms internally to actually suit your use case which can't be done if you don't understand mathematical concepts like optimization/probs stats/information theory/complex linear algebra concepts etc. It's not easy and the worst thing is alot of your clients won't even understand how hard have you worked to notch up the accuracy even by 2-5 percent. Very few will understand your brilliant hacks and tweaks that you have applied to actually create a better model. Also, explainability becomes an issue if your model is complex. In a nutshell, data scientists could spend weeks and yet the progress might not be very significant or apparent as compared to UI or backend development where even a layman could view and appreciate your progress. So if you are choosing to become an ai engineer then be ready to be a grinder and be ready to do a thankless job. But returns are awesome for sure 😊

Saw this video a Lil too late 🤣, been working as data scientist/ AI engg from past 5yrs in whatever you want to call this as, and the learning seems endless with analytics, NLP, CV - and with latest addition of generative and graph networks the AI engineers have hellish path ahead to keep up with these fake expectations from managers who'd be mostly non technical or from non AI background. Everyday is going to be a justification day regarding your hiring choice and even if the metrics might give better output - the real life scenario needs to match(eg: forecasting or churn estimations etc), else start preparing for interviews where the hiring happens based on number of successful deployed projects in the past, and unfortunately 80% of the ds projects get shelved or they get decommissioned after sometime due to wrong practices and many other reasons. If you're in US,EU you're ok to choose this field if interested - else suffer away with impostor syndrome for the rest of your AI career. Unfortunately we're in an industry where best work is seen rather than experienced, AI's impact could be negligible as it's an add on module rather than a basic/necessary module. Not to be too salty about AI - if it makes you interested , it has a bright future ahead if you're into research and getting juice out of it. Else it's better to say puducherry ko vanakkam and stay away.

3 years ago, everyone said AI models were still too weak to handle basic engineering tasks
2 years back, ChatGPT was also called a phase and now we have all the FAANG companies making their own LLMs to provide services(APIs) to smaller companies so that not everyone has to go through the hassle of building their own language model for their own specific tasks.
RAG is coming about which makes integrating LLMs to your tasks even more easier. I also dont belive AI is going to take jobs, rather it will require newer people to use this fascinating technology to be integrated with the existing product.

I am a Tech Lead in Machine Learning (12 years of XP) and yes you need to work really really hard to get a proper ML job. Businesses are not ready yet to embrace the full potential of Machine Learning. Entry level Data Scientist...you will be just as good as support to senior data scientists.
You need to master these things :
1. Mathematics
2. Programming (You need to be absolutely be able to do at least 50% of what a software engineer does)
3. Business Acumen ( Oh boy, you will be surprised how important is domain knowledge, it will make or break your model)
4. Communication skills (Written + Verbal, You have to talk and talk and talk)
5. Machine Learning
6. MLOps
7. Databases
This is a small list of things you need to MASTER...not just know.
Tanay is absolutely right. You need to super duper into Mathematics, if you hate Maths you are not going to survive + your inter-personal skills are going to be put to stress test.
Do this instead if you really want to be in ML, learn MLOps + Software engineering.

Since you read all comments and respond, I would really want you to see this and comment your views. Like there is this role called Data and Applied Scientist at Microsoft. They also sometimes publish patents and papers in very good conferences. Again, this is much better reality than what you described in the video. It is good to provide knowledge of UI,UX but there are multiple fields also in IT industry so also provide knowledge about them.
Exactly. He said himself that tech is unpredictable so keeping yourself updated is beneficial
I am from an IIT. There were many AI roles with good packages during placement, but only handful of UI jobs.
What if, in future UI work will also get automated by some AI tool like if we present a mockup to that tool and it will generate the whole code in you preferred UI framework
Don't know if that is possible today or not
yep AI is the future

Really? No jobs or u don't have required skillset?
Masters from which college??
@@arun-kumar78 sir skillset maybe but we only had TCS on mass hiring in campus placement.
Masters from graphic era university (Dehradun)
I have graduated in 2020 and working in data scientist since the beginning of my career, I enjoyed every bit of data science and with 2.2 years of full time xp I have an annual salary of 31 lacs fixed. I feel I have less work, so I utilize this time for my leisure activities. So I get paid handsomly and more free time, it's a win-win situation. I don't think what you are saying is right, both data science and sde can be equally rewarding.
@@hummingbird8125 which college you are from?
@@Sanjay-xq5xr I made multiple switches since I graduated. So my college played no role in getting interviews and cracking them. It was all data science + ML based interviews

Thanks for posting a positive comment about data science. I started to doubt my decision to get into data science. I would like to know about nature of your job.. is it more about data preprocessing like he said in the video or it's something else.

This guy might be talking from statistics and creating opinions with respective to tge stats but he does not understand the power which big data holds , in today's world the complete buisness of of big social media companies is collecting and analysing user data and developing product according to it and make wonderful predections even companies like AWS are data oriented not to mention AWS being the part of amazon generating more revenue than what we all think Amazon's buisness might be. Data science and machine learning are just amazing and beautiful and powerful fields they give you the power to peek into the future.
Sir you wanna say thay we should go for plane computer science instead of selecting its specialization aiml? And what about data science?
Masala computer science is also not a bad idea
I dont like maths then in my btech degree which course would be good cloud or AI ML?
I am 32 years old and a commerce graduate. I have been running a coaching institute for 12 years. But now I want to enter the IT industry. Is it right to switch my career? I have zero knowledge about IT, but it is my dream to work in IT. Please suggest which course is good for me?

What about the future of a UI/UX designer or researcher?
Tanya ji I am 35 and I am totally confused now. Can you please guide me. I am interested in maths and programming, due to which I chose data analyst because I thought somehow I could shift into AI research.
I understood that I have to put hours of dedication and hard work. But, I thought it would be easy to get into AI after that but after seeing this video I am totally confused.
I want to make a career in something that involves programming and mathematics. Can you please guide me. I am desperate.

UI mein ai use kar sakte hain
I am doing AI developer course from IBM's organization. After watching this video. It made me think did i made a mistake. Please!!!! help me out
UI - easy to learn , easy to make normal Package money ,easy to get jobs
AI - very hard to learn ,very hard to make money , very hard to get a job
Conclusion -( avg person always go with easy path and choose UI , and never come out from his comfort zone)
but (AI --- not a easy and fast path ,her kesi k bs ka nahi h (fact) , double Package from UI , and AI is future (fact - just think devin is real , and ek baar jake galileo ai dekho ,,sb pata lg jaega ki UI design ka future kya h ? ),
I'm too from bokaro , great to see someone from our town doing wonders, great advice and reasoning .
I am from sector 1b.
Is data science better than ai for a student moderately interested in maths
sir, if an individual is pursuing AI/ML course, what should he or she do right now, can you suggest an alternative for this course
Bhai esi AI product aney waali hain ky apka UI woh khud hi bana ker dedgi kaafi hadd tak.
what about mtech in ai which is provided by prestigious calleges like IIT ROORKEE or IIT HYDRABAD etc ? is it worthless ?
Same doubt

And i am from punjab ❤️
Very good information Tanmay Sir. Very Realistic Thing You Shared. Kudos ✨✨✨✨
If someone wants long term career game then choosing AI is worth it.
Because AI is only focused on One thing that is Making things easy for everyone. Like tache person non tech person.
In future Ai maybe automate many jobs also the UI/UX designers. Ai will automate software engineers. In one simple description you'll get readymade software for your business.
Well chosing AI isn't regretful if you have finance resources/ passive income to live your life.
And learn AI without thinking of money. As you know Ai is long term game and has many subsets also mathematics statistics.
Every learner start with python/R and mathematics
Then ML, then NPL, then Computer Vision, so on
If someone wants to become an robotics engineer then pursuing a career in mechanics is 100% good after completing mechanics the engineer will focus on programming, math,ML and robotics engineering the subset of AI.
In the end AI is a subset of Data science😅.
And the demand for data science is also on top
Tanay sir, What are your thoughts of career in cloud, DevOps.
Yes sir homko Hamare final year k project k lie AI ya ML ka project banane ko force kia. Tbh merko bhi data science m mera intrust tha but aabhi after chatgbt I gave up on it and went back to focus on web dev. Thank you for your videos 🔥.

@@anon4685 I never said that it will end data science , I think that as the ai grows there will be less branches in data science as ai will will make most of the process automated and compition will be too high . So as a beginning it won't be the best choice according to me.
