I was there just over three weeks ago, luckily I got to experience the renovation as I didn't even know they were giving it a facelift.

Once upon a time in a Seattle so far away, an average family could visit the Space Needle and even have lunch in the revolving restaurant. Those days of wonder are long gone. Now the Space Needle is for the rich. Another wonderful icon stolen for the few.

As much as I love the needle and enjoyed working there 40 years ago being disabled now I can't afford the cost to see the new remodel.

@AsSeenOnTV not everybody has the luxury of mommy and daddy's money the guy said he was disabled which means he probably can't hold down a job therefore either works very few hours a week or he's on disability which draws in most States around $800 to $1,200 a month. Which is the cost of rent and electricity and water and garbage Etc the cost of living is not as cheap as you think when you're living in mommy's basement.. the poor guy probably doesn't have $20 left at the end of the month would be my guess.

@@yo-yobo-bo7284 Finally someone with some empathy. Marcus clearly doesn't have a ounce of that quality in his whole being. Perhaps karma will teach him a lesson in humility some day.

Not for everyone. Your mind may be telling you that it's safe but your built-in sensory warning system is telling your body that you are not in a safe situation.
Nothing wrong with having a metal railing to give everyone a sense of containment and physical security. Of course, originally the observation deck on the Needle had no physical barrier above a railing at about waist height. Makes me wonder how many people climbed over it to jump off.

That would have taken care of the homeless quite well Seattle instead of overtaxing businesses as usual.

Jan, no frigging way. If people like you had their way, we would never have any nice things. And there would still be homeless.

ThrummerOfLove. Up to Seattle really"...they can have their worthless things ...all the while good employers leave the city 'Amazon won't stay' many are to follow...and by rights Seattle goes the way of all of California a worthless State!

Jan, The Space Needle is all privately funded, and actually brings the city a lot of tourist revenue.

I myself plan on visiting the "S S N" (just as I did in 62 and many times since then) and spend money, dining there and enjoying the view!
