Having lived and worked in Asia for over 40 years and having many friends that married Asian women I have noticed that especially in Thailand (where I have the most experience) that when you marry a Thai girl you marry her whole family. Once you are married to one you soon learn that your Thai wife's main priority will be the happiness of her family. You will often have members of her family living with you and off of you, those not living with you will often come to visit you for the purpose of asking you for money or help that will cost you money. Better live with one for at least a year before marriage to find out what your Thai wife's priorities are first. Remember once you are legally married is is also legal in the country you come from and these girls know that. This is not only in Thailand, I have also seen this happen in Vietnam and Indonesia probably the same in the Philippines too (haven't spent that much time in the Philippines).

You will still be responsible for child support even if you leave the country. Naturally she will find out or learn what a woman from your home country is in titled to and demand she gets the same even if she remains in her home country. All she has to do is go to your embassy for help.

There are a lot of legal issues to clear up, including DNA tests, and other stuff that rarely a Filipina can afford to pay or want to get involved with. Even after the Filipinas have all their ducks in a row, the foreigner can lengthen the legal process in his country and make it prohibitively expensive for the Filipinas. Most Filipinas hey-te getting involved in legal issues with the courts, the police, and anything involving the government. Most prefer to put their heads down and let it go. That's their personality.
