This is just like my brother in law!!!! Even talks like him and he thought my sister and nephew were trying to poison him. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia but won’t do anything about it. Weird to see someone from so long ago resembling someone from today. Fascinating

My brother is the same! It’s difficult to accept for some people to look within the self as the root of these difficult issues! People like to blame others for their own difficulties! Some, sadly, aren’t equipped to delve into their own mind because it’s an unknown! It’s an exploration of self and we as a society fear that and are taught to only deal with the outer world! To be in life on the outside is important, but must be balanced and need to learn and observe how one and others are reacting to them and learn to grow to take responsibility!

I was diagnosed a paranoid schizophrenic 20 years a go this year, I walked out the Dr office not to return unless needed for pain or something. Never had an issue but I don't like people to close to me, 1.5m is best for you. Stand behind me and forget about it but I see this as normal, why would you want someone closer?...I do see things sometimes, more like a shadow of such, I do hear things a bit, nothing that can't be controlled.

I agree with distance. I like my personal space especially strangers, don’t need to get sick. Animals are cool though. I’ll stay out all day feeding the chipmunks but HATE when the neighbors come into my space. I’m not skitsophrenic (sorry I can’t spell it atm) just got bad anxiety. I’m shocked honestly people coming in peoples spaces during a pandemic. Like what’s wrong with you??

Still looking for the 1960’s? film of a psych working w an angry little boy
and his overbearing mother. The psych worked with puppets with the little boy and the mother, showing her he needed nurturing and eventually picking up the boy and cradling him to the surprise of his mother seeing how delighted her son was with the tenderness. Was this posted by you? I’ve looked everywhere to find it again.

The doctor said he was glad this patient was feeling better, but I'm not so sure the patient IS feeling better. He might just be feeling too drugged to complain. Part of the difficulty with paranoia is that the doctor has to make certain what the patient is saying is in fact imaginary, and that isn't always easy.

@OneKindWord, A Good Question & hard to say, I imagine thats one reason why they made these, because it’s not easily determined. Many of these early ‘interview style documentaries’ were definitely staged, played out with clinic workers or amateur actors.
Mental illness, as recognized by the Nation institute of Mental Health, has increased in society quite dramatically over the last century,…in fact it’s shocking how much its increased. I study Mental illness and the first 200 years of mentally ill housing-Asylums.
