    Hi, really good video and advise. I'm also deciding between the Andersen or Zappa, but tending towards the Andersen.
    I've looked on the OZEV website and it said the criteria for grants is people who live in flats. I presume the eligibility has been reduced as you live in a house and this was installed 3 years ago ?
    Are you happy with your home charger ? - no regrets ? !

    I think it's really good that company's are starting to make more aesthetically pleasing versions as people spec houses to there style so to have a bulky unit makes no sense.

      Totally agree, giving homeowners better options

    Had same unit but with wood front installed yesterday. One important point is the Government grant of £350 is being scrapped at the end of March as they prefer to talk rather than walk on environmental issues. I got in on time as the Tesla Model Y got onto the approved list after I badgered government departments to do this. Hesitate and you’ll miss out. Love the Andersen unit by the way.

    I'm an electrician & install chargepoints in Kent. My price structure is simple my customers pay for all materials & my labour charge per day is 400. Out of the 400 you need to take tax, fuel, vehicle costs & all other business expenses.
    So, if the total for a job was 1400 I could end up with approx 220-240....Also, for peoples information: EV test kit 1500.
    niceic membership 1000 per anum.
    time taken to become an approved electrician, I would say atleast 10 years.
    The A2 is definitely the best looking but check out the evo ev
    RS stainless steel charger

      I think your pricing is very reasonable. My point in this instance was everyone pricing was inline with yours, this one particular company who felt there presence on social media, allowed for £1000 labour costs. I paid £1250 after the grant which I think is correct for the work and materials.

      @@DIYJourney1 This company did it sound like "marzipan electrics"

      🤣 Very similar yes. Apparently its because they offer a quality service. I have been informed in recent videos the quality service doesn’t happen 🤦🏽‍♂️

    Looks nice. In the video, did you say the colour "nearly black" is a close match to anthracite windows? On the Andersen website I was going to go for "Steel", but you unit looks good. How did it match up in the end?

      Thankyou, thats right yes. This was the ‘nearly black’ colours and looks a near on identical match for our anthracite garage doors.

    hi - thanks for your video, very helpful. Can you tell me what type of wiring is needed for Anderson A2 if I wanted to also pre lay the wiring for the installation. I want to avoid unsitely installation!

      Hi,
      It is dependant on your installation, such as the cable run length which will determine the size of cable. Also whether it is external, internally ran and if internal can it meet appropriate regulations. As I am not an “electrician” I feel it would be morally wrong to give more specifics, so I do apologise for that.

      4mm 3 for a run of less than 10mtrs or 6mm for more than 10mtrs
      Twin and earth if cabling is internal, SWA cable if it’s external.
      6mm gives extra scope so if possible use that

    At 9:48 You don’t have to wait for your car to be added to the grant list. The installer just needs to phone them up and they will add the car to the list. I’ve done it.

    • @DIYJourney1
      @DIYJourney1  2 роки тому

      Thats good to hear, maybe it all changed, however I can categorically say that I definitley couldn’t have the grant and had to wait because the BMW iX3 at the time this video were completed, was not recognised by the government list and therefore I/installer could not apply for the grant as was this the case with other iX3 orders….at the time.

    Great chargers, but why didn't you mount it centrally on the column? If it didnt annoy before I bet it does now!

    • @DIYJourney1
      @DIYJourney1  2 роки тому +1

      The charger is 100% central on the pillar, it would very silly to mount it off centre, wouldn’t it.
      I assume its just a camera angle or something you are referring to.

    • @Cheradanine
      @Cheradanine 2 роки тому

      @@DIYJourney1 Yeah, my mistake. it's the camera angle that makes it look off-centre.
      They're good chargers, expensive but one of the few that take care with the aesthetics. The Zappi looks like someone's bolted a urinal to the front of their house. Great chargers, but fugly.

      Now its up and running fully and commissioned I now know this, seems a possible change amongst other things done to the units. However the unit can be disabled and not able to be used.

    • @simonfidler7906
      @simonfidler7906 2 роки тому +1

      Yes you can. Just disable it.
