I love that she served her country during WW2. She didn't run, she didn't hide, she didn't use her privilege to shirk her duty.

There is certainly heroism in all she did; I just don't believe it is fair to frame any of it as "her duty." She was a child for most of the war, and it would have been entirely reasonable for her to evacuate.
@@Rosawyn L was referring to when she was 18, 19 years old. In Canada we are legal adults at 18. Is this or was this different in Britain? Was she not legally able to decide for herself at that age? From what I have read there was conscription for males 18- 50 and the legal age for leaving school wasn't raised to 15 until after the war. Teenagers were considered adults with adult responsibilities.

I had the priviledge to meet the Queen in 2014. To see her so close and to get to shake her hand was indescribable. She was so familiar almost like your granny but yet you knew she was the Queen. I liked everything about her. She was so small yet immaculately dressed, even her makeup was perfect. It's true, although we were all nervous when she arrived, when she started to speak she made everyone feel at ease.

Hmm. What you don't understand is that the Crown Estate collects a HUGE amount of rent, which once used to go into the coffers of the sovereign.
But for the last (about) 250 years, all that lovely money that, by rights, should be the Queens, has been going into the Treasury, along with all the taxes.
There is an agreed list of members of the Royal Family (the Civil List) who work full time for the firm and are therefore paid from the Crown Estate. The rest of them, including the two Princesses of York, and the children of Princess Anne, go out to work, as did both Prince William and Prince Harry until recently assuming full-time duties.
The amount paid out of the Treasury is about 25%-30% of the income from the Crown Estate. The rest of it goes to the National Health and all the other public provisions.
The story that the Queen is paid out of people's taxes is a lie that anti-monarchists would like you to keep right on believing.
The Queen more than pays for her own rent; her contribution possibly paid for my eye surgery.

I think that it is a bit complicated. If "the religion" means a particular "Church" as in The Church of England, then the monarch has not sworn to defend it. The Monarch is "Defender of the Faith" which means "Faith in God". I think that if it was put to the test, legally, there would be a case that this was specifically the Christian Faith. It does not mean The Church of England, regardless of the fact that the Queen is Head of the Church of England and was crowned in the Church of England.
The law preventing members of the Royal family from maintaining their place in the line of succession if they marry a Roman Catholic is political rather than religious. A number of members of the Royal Family are Catholic.
Then again, I think that a case could be presented that "Defender of the Faith" has a wide application covering all "Faith in God".

@AlecNeate333 Okay, so we have a national debt in the trillions and she is part of one of the richest families in the world. If we make so much from her family why is our nation on it's knees from crippling debt? The royals could pay it all off but obviously they aren't here to serve us, we are to serve them. About their crown lands, they don't pay tax unless it's voluntary and their income isn't declared, also these lands are mostly private and have to be maintained by more than a few forestry rangers on a 30-40k salary so I can't imagine much of that income source goes into the economy.
Can you quote any figures to back up your statements, such as the amount of revenue from tourism and crown land they bring to the table? If you can present the evidence I may change my mind, at the moment my opinion is that they are mostly useless. The only royal I have respect for is Harry due his military service, he served 10 years when he could have been sat on his arse and getting paid for it like the majority of royals do.
