I saw that Rob had tagged you - cheeky so-and-so. 😂Great video, and I agree with your thoughts on lyrics. Excellent choice with the ABBA song, so true. Cheers from Oz. John D.
Hi Dale, like you I'm a feel man rather than a lyric man so would find this thread very difficult to do. I think Leonard Cohen is too often accused of being a sad b*stard artist, but I think that's mainly due to his voice - there's quite a bit of humour in his songs. Beeswing - excellent choice, but you could have chosen around 75% of Mr. Doom & Gloom's songs! As I said to Rob, my favourite Smith's song would be the runout at the end of any of their albums 😂. Cheers... Pete
Hi Dale - welcome to the Sad Bastard Club - I too was tagged - not sure if I should take it as a compliment or not ! Great choices with John Martyn and Well I Wonder - and yes that ABBA track is pop desolation perfection
Excellent response Dale. Think I will spin the John Martyn and Leonard Cohen albums this very evening. I've spun Sgt Pepper twice this year by the way.
Interesting comments re. Sgt. Pepper. My copy is still sealed because I feel that know it too well to actually play it. At the same time I think it’s a record I should have in my collection.
An absolutely classic album that I am happy to have three copies of in the collection that I can't see myself ever choosing to play over another album...

Thanks John I was hoping to avoid this one but Rob made me do it...

@ cheers Dale 👍☝️🍺🫡🇬🇧
Beeswing is a great choice for that prompt.
A wonderful tale of love and loss...
This may be the first time I’ve heard forensic analysis in reference to listening to a song.
Is there another method?

Spin the dance party second...
