You can take Mahmoud out of Egypt, but you can never take the Muslim out of Mahmoud. Just because he’s in America doesn’t mean he is going to change his beliefs especially when it concerns his wife. There are many Muslims living in the US who uphold those same cultural and religious values. Nicole must know this, also she actually converted to Islam so what she’s doing seems very hypocritical. Anyway Nicole ain’t never changing Mahmoud to be more American lol as a Moroccan born in Europe I can tell you even though we are born here we are value our culture and religion over anything and I’m assuming it’s the same for him.

I was with a Middle Eastern man, he was extremely abusive, of course not at first. Mahmoud shows similar controlling behaviour and mind games, threatening divorce over the simplest disagreement. I'm not sure if this is scripted, but let's just say it isn't, for all the hate Nicole gets, I totally understand where she gets her defensive behaviour from and I can empathise with her and see why she acts the way she does

Look at the videos from last season and the past couple of videos from this season (again). Zain does mention it. I have a feeling of what’s being portrayed is that Mahmoud wanted to marry a Muslim girl but she knew he wouldn’t marry her unless she converted. I also think that he wanted the “spiritual glory” per se for having his wife convert and he getting the attention and assumed blessings of her converting “because of him.”
