This model railway is so realistic! The coaches and engines are weathered, the stations and tracks look realistic, and the engines have realistic sounds!
I seriously can never get enough of this layout. It just looks and feels like a real railway. I feel like I could just sit at one of the stations and just train spot all day and I wouldn't get tired of it :)
Beautiful model railway, the sound effects bring it to life, the echo of the whistle, birds chirping, chuffing of engine, even some flange squeal, very nice!
Watched this on large tv with sound bar ,all I can say is amazing .No mistaking the sound of the 3 cylinders of the v2 ,truly brilliant . The standard 5 puts up good show for itself as well . Just love the scenery ,even though I have watched your site for some time .Keep up the great work .😊
I put it on the projector and sound bar 🍻 never gets old, love to see how you piece it all together but then I think it would ruin it, like a magician and his tricks. Top work Lewis!
Happy New Year, Lewis. Another super video and great to see the headshunts being used at Misselthwaite. The mystery tunnel between Ponden and Misselthwaite, as mentioned below by Greg Palmer, is a worry, because not ony did the carriages seem to come out in the reverse order they went in on the return leg, but on the outward leg seven coaches on the Ponden side became six on the Misselthwaite side. I blame the tardis! Regards, Eric.
Thanks Eric, you as well. You can tell I’ve had a few weeks off from making these 🤣 I guess there are some cold and hungry passengers somewhere in the tunnel still!
Trainspotting as I remember it. Chased an Ivatt mogul in crimson lake from Darlington past Bishop Auckland and into the Durham Dales. Top notch post, as usual.
Hi from Dublin Ireland first time on your channel loved the video and the sound effects and the camera work at ground level mede you feel like you were in the scene brilliant thanks for the upload.
Great layout, and your sound dubbing totally nails it. One small point - scout around and get all the telegraph poles and signals IN PLUMB - no cost, and all those wobbly verticals let it down. Easy fix.
Glad to see you back, Lewis! Best of the season to you and your family, as well as to the rest of your followers! Despite the weird goings on in the tunnel, I remain impressed with the realism of your railway. Always slightly different viewing angles to show off your work. Glad you inaugurated the locomotive change at Misselthwaite. Those crews need their rest, and the loco needs a drink from a water tap, if not a fuel fill up!
Happy 2023 Lewis for you and your loved ones ! Your layouts are eye candy and your video, again, is excellent work and most enjoyable. Love the locomotive power and rolling stock all very realistically blending in with the scenes. Thanks for sharing & success. Cheers, Filip
Hi Lewis, kindly regards and best wishes for 2023! ..."For me it´s always a great pleasure to watch your steam :-))" ...Big THANKS for sharing mate!!! ...CHEERS, Olli
@@MouldyRaspberry By the way you might not accept this but I wanna know if you can do a tour with the flying Scotsman in YDMR but if you don’t have it don’t waste your money on an idea by me but if you don’t could you do a video with your entire collection?
Happy New Year this is fantastic the first trains I love a V2 taking an Express to the other end of the Line then a Standard 5 takes over for the return journey
Happy new year gentleman, it's nice to see two great workhorses in the upper middle/low tier heavy power range, the V2 and the Standard 5MT, one of the best LNER design in pull everything/goes anywhere type with the V2, and the legitimate heir of the LMS Black Five type with the 5MT. And you gave them a typical work with an heavy local passenger train, a clearly mid-range direct run from a great city (Manchester ? York ? Sheffield ?) to some local important market town, or small city around the 10 to 15K inhabitants mark, with some stopovers in local stations with a non-negligible patronage or some convenient interchange traffic with local stop trains. Two engines that have the punch to deal with such convoys, and being light enough to be able to run on regional single tracked lines. A good match, especially with the blood and custard Mk 1s !
Compliments of season, Mouldy. Very cool selectiion of traffic for a new yr start😀as usual a delightful video on YDMR action. Like the idea of loco ready to opposite direction at Misslewaithe for a quick turn around. Keep these videos coming, keeps the hobby motivation alive😃great aerial segments of video
Make that the first train of the year, shared by an LNER V2 and a Standard 4 Tender Engine. The V2 reminds me of Green Arrow. You were operating in the same way as Severn Valley Railway operations, with only one train running. Interesting. One shot that's very difficult to recreate is placing the camera in the 4 ft of the track, and letting the engine and train run over it. You'd need a very tiny camera to achieve that sort of shot. I only mention it, because there is an "inside Foley Park Tunnel" shot on one of my old SVR videos, showing Hinton Manor whistling as she approaches and then runs over the camera.
Happy New Year to you, and welcome back! Beautiful scenery and decent sound effects. I still think it's time to 'move the game on'. You need a smoke machine of some description - could have smoke coming out of the tunnel on entry / exit and from some of the cottages and station houses. Al.
I really enjoy your videos of your model train. I laugh when I watch it; you are spot on with the sound effects. The scenery is perfect. It is a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing your amazing train. What is your weather like now where you live? Our weather her in Ohio, USA, just changed from 62 degrees F. to in the 30's and was snowing this morning. God bless and keep well!
Thanks very much, glad you enjoy them. It got down to about 15 degrees F here for a couple of days, but has warmed up again now. Nothing like what you guys have been having though, looks pretty crazy!
And who is that cheerful spunky blue cheeky lad coming down ‘round the bend? Of course, it’s Thomas The Tank Engine! Oh boy, now I’m gonna get it! Ok ok, I apologize, this is an excellent video! Super nice looking trains! Steam rules!!!
Oh that mystery tunnel where the stock is reversed & the BCK is changed for a BSK lol good vid still no catering for the hungry & thirsty travellers lol
@@MouldyRaspberry yes but also the BCK on your home layout & BSK(BCK has 5 windows BSK 4) on the new one lol btw I would send U a catering mk1 but all mine are blue/grey
This is spectacular. Clearly, immense work has gone into both the layout and the video. May I ask why the trains don't stop at the stations? I would be a seriously fed up traveller. Stood on the platform when train after train steams straight past. Your trains are fast too. I've been on the north York moors railway numerous times, and I would put money on saying I don't think I've been over 30mph. Great work though .
Thank you 👍🏻 Some videos I stop them at the stations. Maybe too fast for a heritage railway, as they have a 25mph speed limit, but that certainly wasn’t the case in the 1950s!
Thank you very much. Yes of course it is quite difficult to separate a sound file from a video, I would not know how to do it ! I had thought you were using sound files found onbtne Net. Please keep giving us nice videos from your lovely layout. Cheers !
Really enjoy your videos and have been watching for some time now but one thing that rather stands out for me is Ponden where the goods area seems far too green and lush and I think losing at least half of the greenness, especially right adjacent to the sleepers and between the rails, would present a more natural look. Steam engines leak all sorts of fluids of one viscosity or another and by there nature would restrict vegetation growth.
Lewis did you make a mistake when you moved the train from one layout to the next? The maroon coach was immediately behind the engine at the beginning of the video but when it moved to the layout in your study it was at the end of the train. Am I wrong? 😮
You’re right James - I noticed that right after I finished filming on the small layout but couldn’t be bothered to re-film it! You can tell I’ve had a few weeks off 😅
@@MouldyRaspberry Lewis I’m sorry that I noticed but as you know I adore your videos and really love your eye for detail as well as those delicious atmospheric sounds which you manage to integrate into the scenario . I wonder how many people will notice?

Have you got some new train sounds on there Lewis they sound great
I do have a couple of new ones Denis! Thank you.
This might sound a silly question but how did they light the carriages up on a real steam train?
Gas lamps originally I think, then later on electric lighting. More modern steam locomotives from the 1950s had electric lighting in the cabs too.
@@MouldyRaspberry but where would they get the electricity from on a steam engine some sort of generator or dynamo?
Hi ! Could you share with your fans some of the sound files you are using ? And Happy New Year, I look forward to more videos.
