Cant thank you enough for this series of vids. I have an 07 RMZ450, and without this clip i wouldnt have even know how to get the carb out! Your vid made what looked like a very difficult task a really easy one. I got the carb off and gave it a good clean, hopefully it fixes the problem (havent put it back in yet). Thanks so much mate, your instructions are clear and very easy to follow, you're an absolute legend.
dont forget to stick a clean rag in the open engine port to avoid debris also, i just removed the carb from my 2002 drz400e (first time working on a dirtbike) and it can be done without removing the subframe and shock. take the airbox boot off the carb and shove it behind the frame rail, it gives you just enough room to work the engine side loose, from there you have enough room on the right so you can access the throttle cable cover and take those off. Once done push the carb out the left side.
@Jakemxr I insert the long end of the allen wrench into the screw and use a pair of pliers on the short end for leverage to break it loose. From there it should turn really easy. It has a spacer on the screw between the ends of the clamp to prevent overtightening the clamp which also makes it harder to break loose.
@ForsheeMS Yes i have an 08 yz125 But the clamp attached to the airbox side is screwed on very tightly and i think the only way i can easily undo it is by removing my Subframe... But i am goign to buy a Alen key set with a long T handle and see if she will undo with a bit more leverage and a very small amount of WD-40 on the clamp.
@Jakemxr On the YZ125's the carb can be removed quickly by just loosening the 2 clamps. On others like the Honda's I have found the best way to get the carb out is to remove the subframe so I guess it really depends on the bike.
Its a good video it is different from my bike i have a honda crf150r 2007 how do i remove the carburator i took the air box out and everything can you help me thanks
@ForsheeMS Btw the way i think your videos are the Best available, you explain things really well along with a little bit of extra detail then any other videos on UA-cam. Keep the videos coming... Cheers,
PLEASE HELP! Call me a baby but i have a TTR125L and i really love it. I need a new part for my carburator but dont know what its called. It is the part where the choke cable is connect to the inside of the carb where the spring lookin thing is being held on to. PLEASE IF YOU KNOW PLEASE HELP ME
I've followed your video to clean my 04 yz450 carb, yet the bike is still not starting. it sat for about a month, I changed the spark plug also. what other issues preventing the bike from starting could be possible?
I really appreciated your clear description of how to do this. Thanks so much

@Ryd3r22
Either would work. I've heard a lot of people call them slip on's too. The bike in this video is a 2008.

would a 125 2 stroke be much different? i find it near impossible to get the air box clamp off without removing the subframe...

Awesome video
Great video!!!
If you didn't drain the gas from the carb, like you should when not riding for a couple weeks, you need a carb clean. Very common mistake.
nice vid
