When i first started with tql, yeah they lowballed me on the rates early on. After i did 10 loads for them, i stated getting 2.00/mile every load. They'll call you and beg you to take their last minute loads. I got em for 1500 going 500 miles one time.
My man here's some advice I've been in the trucking industry for over 21 years man get the number to the receiver or shipper no matter if the load has an appointment it'll never hurt to call and ask if your load is ready or if the receiver ask can you deliver the load early ; sometimes they may let you come in early. Always fund out the phone numbers so you can call. 26,000 pounds and below you don't need a cdl but if the load is over 26,001 pounds you do need a cdl but regardless you'll always need s DOT PHYSICAL. I've been in the industry over 21 years. TQL they do try to get their freight moved for cheap. You'll learn as you get experience.

Freight everywhere is cheap so to you who telling people it’ll get better stop it with this wish upon a star mentally. Thing aren’t gonna get better if the economy doesn’t turn around. Ya might might want to think twice before jumping out here. Don’t rely on Amazon either because from my understanding they may be doing a lay off themselves. People get all the information before you talking about getting a truck an coming out here. Right now it’s not a wise decision. Take it from an OG in this game. If I can help y’all I will because I don’t want people to end up worried aggravated discussed stressed out worry about how they gonna make it from A to B pay bills etc.
Just to clarify something, if your truck gross weight is 26k doesn't matter if you have a CDL or not, the truck and cargo cannot exceed that weight limit.

My dispatcher told me I could haul 10k in my in truck. I weighed my truck empty with a full tank fuel and all my equipment. 16,750 that's only 9,250. Never guess how much you can carry. Over weight in 26k truck even with my Class B is still a ticket.
I worked at TQL and they could’ve done 700 for you for that one load they probably had 1500 to 1600 in the load. It’s messed up how it’s ran it’s why I left and I’m now getting my CDL
The game is effed up because of all those dumb drivers who take them cheap loads. When they screw you over that way, it's because they know they're gonna get a dummy to haul that ish for that low rate.

You can't start taking trash loads or they will keep paying you trash. They already know when we call we want 2.50 or more consistently. They try it and always call me back closer to my rate, half the time it still don't be enough lol.

Use Amazon also but only when the rates are better . Recently Amazon been posting some bs quotes . I say they quoted because they not rates unless you take them . Post your truck on Amazon and you can input what you want to get paid . Otherwise, the spot loads that ppl cancel on Amazon will pay the most. Really wait until around Black Friday to play w Amazon cause they rates are trash I do they short runs. Edison to Brooklyn or Manhattan post offices. I did it some months back they paid me like $430, now they paying $288. I did it this weekend and canceled a load last night because I did a load last Sunday from Avenel to 42nd then had to go to broadway a little past Harlem. Had to take the Lincoln tunnel then come bk to Jersey just to take the GWB to get to broadway post office. They got me. The part that upset me outside of the $88+ tolls, was that I requested a call letting them know traffic was crazy and they still decreased my score. That load was like $300. Amazon to me ain’t worth that right now. I use them for gas money really or grocery money before I mess with dat or ch Robinson during the real week, I don’t care what the name of the shipper/broker/direct customer is, if the money don’t make sense , F-them, real talk Amazon is direct shipper they should pay the most. Ch Robinson pays the most on Spot loads. You literally can book a load at Semi money if you stalk they load board and book at the right times. Other good companies are, Pro-Transportation, SIO Logistics, Armstrong Transport, . It’s a lot of companies on dat, you gotta look at their credit scores, days to pay, look at the reviews, but really all that is great but as long as they got 84 bond / 85 trust and it’s current on dat and safer, yiu can do the load but only Interstate, Never do loads Intrastate. Meaning don’t do loads Picking up and delivering in the Same State. Brokers Do Not have to pay you on those loads, and you cannot file claims against their Insurance. Only state to another state. Good luck .

@@breakingbread6956 I drive a non cdl box, and I'm clarifying the fact that the truck will also have to be a cdl truck capable of hauling the weight plus the driver has to have a cdl also. Not one or the other. Under 26,000 lbs rated box trucks cannot weigh more then 26,000 loaded which is a load of about 10,000lbs give or take. You cannot put a 15,000 lb load I that truck and put a cdl driver that truck. It doesn't work that way. Equipment is rated for 26000 lb only.

If you can buy a truck cash that’s the best start which means your insurance would be a little lower because this is a up and down market and also competitive and diesel is high but try to find a company you can run directly for so you might not have to go OTR because OTR in a box truck is brutal if you don’t have a sleeper which I would recommend you to get because you don’t want to sleep in sh.itty motels and know your worth I’m not touching nothing under $2.75 a mile for long distance

A driver with a CDL can haul over 26k in a box truck. It’s not going to happen all of the time.

I have 26 foot, 17 k payload and i make a bank but i have cdl.
Best thing I did was block TQL from my load board. Underpay but want dedicated load. I’ll never waste my time with them again.

That truck can't be over 26000 pounds loaded whether driver has a cdl doesn't matter. Truck is a non cdl truck.

That's correct for a class A, now look up class B cdl.
