Carving a basic Pikie style Fishing Lure

- Pikie lures have been around forever and with good reason, they move like they want to get bitten. This was a basic attempt to make a lure out of a bit round wooden dowel and it worked but probably needs a bigger lip.
Tools and materials
19mm ¾” wooden down birch
Mora 106 carving knife
25mm s/steel screw eyes
Split rinds
No. 1 size trebles
5 min epoxy for base coat
White, yellow, green, black createx airbrush paint
Uv cure epoxy resin top coat - Спорт

Тоже подобные делал лет 15 назад, и поперы и воблеры, только крепче и надёжнее, да ещё груз можно прятать в пропил, и до сих пор ещё остались рабочие😉

I'd like to see a continuous wire all the way through. The screws into the woods are a broken heart waiting to happen...lol
i never had a screw eye fail yet, generally the hooks or split rings go before or even the wire trace, but maybe i am not catching big enough fish
Ain’t no fish pulling those loose. Hooks would break or straighten out first.
Wouldn’t hinge then.

I've had other BPM baits ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

If you have the simple tools and plan it out it can be really simple and rewarding! I would purchase some pre cut blanks in the size you prefer and just widdle away with a good blade

Looks nice and good action. I would suggest drilling a through hole in the center.... and runs SS wire all the way.. that little eye hook will fail on a decent size fish

some things I wish i knew ten years ago, be brutal in your editing and then be more brutal, if it is not telling a story that is interesting get rid. It is going to take time, poeple have to find you even if you make a viral video then next one could die, build a core auidence do not worry about vast numbers of viewers they wont care about you but small group will. You don't need to tell people evrything they are not stupid and can figure things out for themselves or ask whihc is conversation and gives you google browny points. Don't be perfect fail no one likes a smarty pants. Be yourself because an act is very hard thing to keep up. love what you do becuase if it becomes just a job it might as well be flipping burgers. Help people, even if that jsut so they can have break from something or learn from your expeince and good luck

Just came across this and actually love your work, I love working with wood and am just getting settled after some tough times, starting to build up my tools again as I left everything for my sons, could I ask what wood is it you use because were I am now, there's ample fishing place's and I would absolutely love trying to make this and then catching something with it, I've wanted a rat, mole lure for the longest time, none do what I want, I've even adapted the one I bought but there just soft plastic...so if you could tell me because I am surrounded by all types of trees, looks like ash ??
