I feel you with that rebel personality. I dropped out of college twice because I couldn't force myself to be a programmer instead of a musician. I also totally understand where I can't plan a time to write, but when I feel like it it's wonderful and I can go all day. I loved that about you in your book where you talk a lot about just being understanding of yourself and making allowances because I'm a human too. Thanks for being here to show all of that. I love that you're a human in everything you do, you're not fake or showing some glossed up Facebook life where everything is fake and you've got it all together. It helps me to see that I don't have to feel awesome and like I'm at 100% all the time. It's what I've come to music for for a long time, and I love that you're around outside of music to still show that. Thank you.

Uuh talking about personality tests: one that really helps me having a better understeanding of my disfunctional sides and deal with them in an healthier way is the Enneagram! I have a feeling that you could be an enneatype 4, too, but I could be wrong of course. The 4 is called "the artist" or "the individualist" or "the romantic", and is quite focused on finding more authentic ways of expressing themseles.. and understeanding who they are actually 😂 I like the enneagram more than other tests because it focuses on inner mechanisms, with different levels of health/unhealth at which each type can work, 3 different "instinctual subtypes" for every tipe (which allowe you to go from the way they work internally to how they act/behave, which helps explain the huge differences between different persons who belong to the same type... there were things that made me doubt the fact that i could actually be a four before finding out that my dominant instinct was self preservation, which changes a lot the way the personality works). The enneagram can be even more complex if you want to go in depth, but otherwise you can just read the description of your tipe and use that much, and that can already be helpful!

9:20 honestly that is one of the things that i miss about old youtube. For 2 examples, sniperwolf's old videos where she just talked over cod footage or TKOR back when it was look at this fun thing i learned/built. Yea people change, she went clickbaity, Grant died (rip) and the cohosts took over but it is more of pbs now than mad garage scientist (that change started before his death tho). But yet we also used to have tv shows that poked at social issues and all...and then the whole being politically correct bs. Yes, don't go directly insulting someone or using derogatory remarks, but im not gonna be afraid of pissing some group of people because i love Halloween (not the witch trials tho). Even a religious nut has enough logic/reasoning to not take the old testament's rules seriously, so everybody should be able to apply some to common interactions...and you know...also SCIENCE... And now i wanna binge rewatch selfie, suburgatory, and outsourced among others. SO HARD to not go into a full rant on some of that there.

Hey Ariel, My name's Erica (and I'm Australian). I've actually been trying to contact you and your band since 2016 regarding a creative project I've been working on. I discovered your music when I left high-school (around 8-ish years ago now) and I instantly felt a connection to your music. I've been struggling with mental health for my whole life but I've only felt able to get help in the past few years. As part of my journey, I came up with an idea for a Jukebox Musical / Rock Opera featuring your music. The idea was a self-help group where each character has a monologue that transitions into a musical number to help express their personal struggles with mental health issues. In the finale it would be revealed that the different characters are all facets of one girl's mind and she's been in a session of therapy trying to express her difficulties with her therapist and the different characters and their various musical numbers represent the complex nature of the human mind and how we all share difficulties in life, regardless of who we are and what walk of life we come from etc. I've been trying to contact you to ask for your permission to put this musical / rock opera together using your songs with your blessing. If you think this is unreasonable and breaching copyright and you don't want me to do this, please let me know. Aww this was a really nice video!! Since the last episode of the REL show my life has been going better. ^^ I've been through a lot since then, but overall, I'm doing better. Also, interesting you mentioned a personality typing. Last year I discovered the Enneagram, which helped me a lot to understand myself. Like you say, it was weird to realize that I'm a type of person and not just a weird one-off being trying to figure things out.

I react the exact same way with expectations. I tried to start an etsy store for custom designs and once I started getting orders I became more stressed and stopped enjoying what I was doing. I find that I enjoy making gifts for people more than orders because no one expects the gift or thought. I am still trying to figure out a better way to get a small shop up and running. Thank you coming back...and maybe if I want to sell I need to make it in my time and then post about it. 💜💜💜

In my life, I was given the chance to start working in the automotive parts distribution industry and earn $9 an hour for doing so. I also got a new to me 2011 Mazda CX-9 which is also allowing me to drive for Lyft and basically side hustle. Dog ownership is amazing. I have a 4 month old puppy and he is like the greatest thing ever for my depression.
I've been a huge fan of the RELshow for a long time, it really changed the way I was looking at my life back then. I was so overwhelmed by your sincerity and spontaneity, the RELshow became a lifestyle to me. Now I understand why I felt like something was off in your latest episodes, which I really couldn't bring myself to like...I got the feeling you were putting too much pressure on yourself and you looked "forced" to be there, in a way. It's nice to finally know what happened that made you feel like that and to see and hear your truer self again. That's what I loved about the REL show, and I was just so sad that aspect was getting lost. Thank you for this episode, Ariel, you rock!

I was introduced to Icon for Hire just over two years ago by my daughter-in-law. I'm so glad that she did, because your music was my light in a dark tunnel until I could spark my own match. Even now, your music resonates with me the more I listen to it. I appreciate your open honesty and raw feelings that you put into the music, I'm the same way with writing poetry. I can't just sit down and write, something has to be on my heart in order to get it out, a labor of love and purging feelings. By the way, no surprise that I'm an obliger, I can't stand to let other people down. A phrase I often tell my therapist is I offer grace, compassion, etc to others, but those rules don't apply to me. She doesn't go for it, lol.

Aww this was a really nice video!! Since the last episode of the REL show my life has been going better. ^^ I've been through a lot since then, but overall, I'm doing better.
Also, interesting you mentioned a personality typing. Last year I discovered the Enneagram, which helped me a lot to understand myself. Like you say, it was weird to realize that I'm a type of person and not just a weird one-off being trying to figure things out.
Damn you made me cry, i love how real you are! I'm so blessed and happy that I was able to find your music years ago and till now I'm so proud of the music and lyrics you make!

I'm also a Rebel it turns out. HA! No wonder listening to you really resonates with me. I learned a long time ago that I cannot forbid myself anything. Or I go all Bell from the Beauty and the Beast and run to the west wing.
I helped make this amazing wonderfully enjoyable show come back im so proud of everyone who backed the Kickstarter with me im excited to see the next episode and ill try not to focus on the end of the show but I know that its important that the rel show has to end at some point because there's other things you need to do and the rel show can't run forever because if it did you would burn yourself out like you did last time so I'll just focus on this here and now
I react the exact same way with expectations. I tried to start an etsy store for custom designs and once I started getting orders I became more stressed and stopped enjoying what I was doing. I find that I enjoy making gifts for people more than orders because no one expects the gift or thought. I am still trying to figure out a better way to get a small shop up and running. Thank you coming back...and maybe if I want to sell I need to make it in my time and then post about it. 💜💜💜
That's probably the idea. I'm learning with myself I want to keep putting out poetry books, but I gotta flow with my creativity and not try to force something in a time frame.

Welcome back! Listening to this episode really hit home about how much I've missed the show. One of the main reasons is your talks about the topic of the day (when it wasn't about hair dye hacks! :) ) would also give me some time for self reflection and hopefully improvements, which in fast paced day-to-day life I can easily neglect. Damn, just realized this makes me an Obliger! 😂
Found you about a year ago and loved every album that you have released. In my life, I was given the chance to start working in the automotive parts distribution industry and earn $9 an hour for doing so. I also got a new to me 2011 Mazda CX-9 which is also allowing me to drive for Lyft and basically side hustle. Dog ownership is amazing. I have a 4 month old puppy and he is like the greatest thing ever for my depression.
I've been a huge fan of the RELshow for a long time, it really changed the way I was looking at my life back then. I was so overwhelmed by your sincerity and spontaneity, the RELshow became a lifestyle to me. Now I understand why I felt like something was off in your latest episodes, which I really couldn't bring myself to like...I got the feeling you were putting too much pressure on yourself and you looked "forced" to be there, in a way. It's nice to finally know what happened that made you feel like that and to see and hear your truer self again. That's what I loved about the REL show, and I was just so sad that aspect was getting lost. Thank you for this episode, Ariel, you rock!

I was introduced to Icon for Hire just over two years ago by my daughter-in-law. I'm so glad that she did, because your music was my light in a dark tunnel until I could spark my own match. Even now, your music resonates with me the more I listen to it. I appreciate your open honesty and raw feelings that you put into the music, I'm the same way with writing poetry. I can't just sit down and write, something has to be on my heart in order to get it out, a labor of love and purging feelings. By the way, no surprise that I'm an obliger, I can't stand to let other people down. A phrase I often tell my therapist is I offer grace, compassion, etc to others, but those rules don't apply to me. She doesn't go for it, lol.
