- Throughout History there were many different Kings and Queens who ruled over England. Their reputations are very differing for example King Henry VIII is best known for his brutality and his six wives, and his daughter Mary I was actually known as 'Bloody Mary' for her executions. But Elizabeth I was remembered for her brilliance with defeating the Spanish Armada, and King George VI is remembered as a King who won the Second World War. However many of their deaths were painful and brutal. In this extended video, we look at the painful deaths of the Kings and Queens of England, and in this video we look at the Kings of the Medieval period.

@@donnyjepp thanks a lot 😊 being crowned king is very on theme too lol
I find your videos always very interesting, informative, and well researched. I always look forward to your videos. 😊
Fascinating documentary. Thanks for this 🤴 👸
A time stamp would be useful.....excellent video though
Thank you for these. They sure where brutal deaths indeed.
I’m sure there was a bit missing at the beginning of the video concerning Alfred the great. If I had just been listening to this I wouldn’t have had any idea who you were talking about
We are now on the fourth Magna Carta, the last one being issued in 1215.
You either win or you die...
When you play the game of thrones..
You will be accountable for all of this one day
I think it was a slow Poison
Elizabeth is rather overrated. She ended her own familial dynasty, she also lost more than few battles with Spain vs her great Armada battle. She was quite a cruel and spiteful woman and more religious persecutions occurred under her rule than Mary’s. Because she was Englands true first Queen in her own right she’s streamlined for propaganda living into a narrative that isn’t quite as flattering as the legend.
The majority of the British people, past and present, would strongly disagree with you. And no, her religious persecution was not worse. Far from it!
Oi Oi Oi so everyone is an expert telling their own version of his story even her story. If we're going to talk overrated and list a couple of claims lets provide the documentation for such claims, please do tell us where we can go to find this fascinating hidden history? I for one have studied Queen E #1 and never have I heard that she was worse than bloody Mary. Yes, propaganda is a thing but so are delusions with the most recent famous one is Jada P. Smith hijacking history with her silliness about Cleopatra.
How was she England's first true queen in her own right? Is that because Mary (and we) had King Philip too?
Every single Royal, without exception, is overrated.
@@Dimera09 I should have added quotation marks as I don’t discount Mary but many do so O was being sarcastic 😌
How come a King's wife becomes a Queen but a Queens husband doesn't become a King?
The patriarchy
In terms of how the monarchy works, a king is always above a queen. So if a queen in her own right marries a man and is named the king, he will overpower her.
That’s why queen Elizabeth 1 never married, and that why queen Elizabeth 2’s husband was a prince, not a king.
@@CountessKitten Can’t slap modern constructs onto history and think it immediately works. This is actually false I’d say it’s a form of female rights in action, for example Queen Victorias husband Prince Albert would have outranked her as a man so therefore he was never crowned king because in order to make her position secured. Same with Queen Mary I and Queen Elizabeth the II’s husbands, Queen Mary I was particularly interesting because her husband was already a King in his own right of other European territories. Either way, it’s to secure a Queens throne because the laws in place still simply state that yes a king would outrank just based on precedence.
@@CountessKittenoh dear, Woke raises its ugly head!
Also, a ruling king's wife is a Queen Consort, not a Queen Regnant.
Henry VI would have been better off permitted to pursue the contemplative or religious life, serving as a priest or living among monks.
Oh, he would've been a monster of a religious man or cardinal! The church was power - ask Wolsey! Henry was destined to be a despot.
@@kelrogers8480 I wonder would have taken the throne in his stead? Or would it have gone directly to Edward IV?
@@LindaMeade well, Arthur would've had to have lived.
Audio recorded while on the toilet?
First time watching his videos?
Why don't you do one and show us all how it's done seeing as you are complaining. Or just don't watch it's simple really 🤷
The last 29 months of Mary I of England earned the name name, Bloody.
And why everyone call marry bloody marry look at her who her grandmother was in her mother’s side Isabella the one who went out Jews and Muslims aka black moors.
Elizabeth 1 is hardly great. She was a horrible woman
