As a guy who was on his school's swim team in both middle school and highschool and was the best free style swimmer they had, I fully agree with DeSantis. I practiced along side the girls swim team my school had and in middle school it didn't take me too long on the first day to notice that is guys had the advantage. In highschool the girls actually enjoyed practicing with us guys because it made them more motivated in pushing themselves. They however were pretty glad that they didn't compete against guys though. This was about 10 years before this trans bs kicked off. I would have felt bad for them if they had to compete against a guy who thought he was a girl. Wouldn't have been fair one bit and as a person who had done a lot of sports other then swimming, I fully understand and approve of fairness in sports and see it as part of sportsmen ship of which it is. These people allowing trans to compete against real men and women clearly don't know what fairness and sportsmen ship are. Above all the trans gender community should have its own division.
@O No, but the Fairness in Women's Sports Act, which was referenced in the video, is just such a law that I mentioned. While what that law accomplishes is needed, I'm equally not happy that a law needs to be made to do it as I am not happy that laws/policies promoting things like men in women's sports, or who can and can't get married are getting made. Anything resembling sense has gone out the window, and needing laws to bring it back is not a direction I want to go. If people want something create a supply for it that doesn't come at the expense of completely blocking someone else's opportunities and disregarding their beliefs.

He's absolutely correct. An individual with xy chromes has 50% more muscle mass and 50% more red blood cells than an individual with xx chromes regardless of hormone treatments or surgeries. This is an unfair advantage at best, and bullying and brutality in many athletic situations. As a female forced to play full contact sports with males for 3 years in middle school, I can assure you that the term brutality is NOT overstated.
I do remember a female friend of mine in middle school play for the boys' football team. But I also look to my time in Scouts, playing amongst the boys who were mostly in the church ward congregation- the gap WIDENS by high school. I was not athletic, but even being a young man in reasonable shape, no, I couldn't keep up with the jocks that had poured in the time and effort. You're correct; yet, I would say the brutality cannot be UNDERstated for adult athletes competing. You may have already seen the examples quoted over large swaths of the Internet: female pros get trounced by high school boys.

As a guy who was on his school's swim team in both middle school and highschool and was the best free style swimmer they had, I fully agree with DeSantis. I practiced along side the girls swim team my school had and in middle school it didn't take me too long on the first day to notice that is guys had the advantage. In highschool the girls actually enjoyed practicing with us guys because it made them more motivated in pushing themselves. They however were pretty glad that they didn't compete against guys though. This was about 10 years before this trans bs kicked off. I would have felt bad for them if they had to compete against a guy who thought he was a girl. Wouldn't have been fair one bit and as a person who had done a lot of sports other then swimming, I fully understand and approve of fairness in sports and see it as part of sportsmen ship of which it is. These people allowing trans to compete against real men and women clearly don't know what fairness and sportsmen ship are. Above all the trans gender community should have its own division.
I don't like the idea that there needs to be government intervention on this in either direction, but I'm happy to see DeSantis stand up for women.
@O No, but the Fairness in Women's Sports Act, which was referenced in the video, is just such a law that I mentioned. While what that law accomplishes is needed, I'm equally not happy that a law needs to be made to do it as I am not happy that laws/policies promoting things like men in women's sports, or who can and can't get married are getting made.
Anything resembling sense has gone out the window, and needing laws to bring it back is not a direction I want to go. If people want something create a supply for it that doesn't come at the expense of completely blocking someone else's opportunities and disregarding their beliefs.

He's absolutely correct. An individual with xy chromes has 50% more muscle mass and 50% more red blood cells than an individual with xx chromes regardless of hormone treatments or surgeries. This is an unfair advantage at best, and bullying and brutality in many athletic situations. As a female forced to play full contact sports with males for 3 years in middle school, I can assure you that the term brutality is NOT overstated.

I do remember a female friend of mine in middle school play for the boys' football team. But I also look to my time in Scouts, playing amongst the boys who were mostly in the church ward congregation- the gap WIDENS by high school. I was not athletic, but even being a young man in reasonable shape, no, I couldn't keep up with the jocks that had poured in the time and effort. You're correct; yet, I would say the brutality cannot be UNDERstated for adult athletes competing. You may have already seen the examples quoted over large swaths of the Internet: female pros get trounced by high school boys.

People should be able to live how they want, but it doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want. Biological males should not be allowed to compete in sports leagues created for biological females; if they want to compete, let them compete with other biological males. They can dress as and sound as and use any pronouns they want. It's not discriminatory-- just like a heavyweight doesn't get to say he identifies with lightweights and therefore should be in the lightweight class. It just doesn't work that way.
A transgender woman literally cannot compete on even grounds with cisgender men, for the exact same reasons why women's leagues exist in the first place. But whatever.

Females are just as capable of competing in a male dominated activity as any guy who's been doing the same activity for years. Trans women are women, trans men are men.
