R.I.P Friday the 13th franchise (1980-2009). Despite the demand from studios and fans, it keeps getting killed by the lawsuit.

I think another reason this may have been canceled is because Bryan Fuller was accused of sexual harassment. There’s nothing definitive yet as it’s still ongoing, but I bet that with the strikes from last year really has just made this project doomed from the start.

2009 feels like a lifetime ago, this Franchise just seems to be cursed at this point from 2009 and so on, it's very unfortunate.

Man how are they fumbling this slasher Renaissance so hard? The new Halloween trilogy was good I personally loved it but God damn that last movie did upset people and I get it. Scream had all its drama, Freddy is literally just a dream at this point and now Jason is locked up again like fuckin Akon.
Chucky can't be the only horror icon going right that's actually stable (not a fan of the series, the teen booper stuff ain't for me but it at least is locked in and going strong on its 3rd season.)

We got a new Halloween Trilogy and a TV series on the way yet Jason and Freddy have been dormant for 10+ year, why?

Freddy is because the family of wes is trying to find a good script wes family owns Freddy so it’s not because of a studio

This is probably for the best atleast until we are past the woke movie/TV age. This franchise is one of the only ones that hasn’t been ruined because there hasn’t been any films since 2009

Man, I’m not even the biggest Friday the 13th fan, but this is such bullshit. I, and everyone else who’s a fan of horror, was genuinely excited for this because a Friday the 13th tv show sounds SICK! Friday the 13th fans get their hopes up over and over again just to get let down and Jason deserves so much better than that.

So as of two minutes ago, updated on his Twitter Bryan Fuller has been dropped from the project and they’ve decided to take the material in a different direction. Fingers crossed it’s more Jason oriented and less Pamela.
Is The Insneider a reputable source? I’m not seeing this in most major outlets that usually have the scoop on these things (Variety, Bloody Disgusting, Dread Central, etc.), although I’ve seen a Movie Web screenshot and a Discussing Film screenshot. Edit: I just saw your update in the comments! I thought something didn’t feel right with this cancellation “news.”
Well said Mike couldn't agree with you more. We so need that sequel to the remake of 2009. Also Mike I think you mention much potential in a "I Know What you Did Last Summer." Movie moving forward, hopefully in the future ahead.

Great news to me. As a long time Friday fan I certainly do NOT like the idea of it going to a series. Any of our beloved slashers should never ever ever go to a series. I hate this. A series was so easy to do but now nothing. The fan films were fine but there needs to be a movie or something. Halloween, Scream, The Exorcist, Chucky all got something even Hellraiser, Predator, and Alien got something. This is so frustrating for everyone.

Good, I had zero faith in this show.
I’m a big fan of horror. However, and I know most of you will dog me, Jason has not gotten the movie he deserves. I will say, I enjoyed The Final Chapter…but really other than that the movies kind of suck balls. Not even a “so bad they’re good” kind of way. But Jason is a damn icon that deserves a well rounded bloodfest, and I was and always will be here for it giving him another chance to murder my opposition.
I will just keep watching the old ones besides they would just screw it up ala the new Halloween movies just rewatch the classics fans
