That new Terminal B is REALLY nice. It just feels so pleasant and clean and simple. There are absolutely more remarkable airports of course, but I would like to say that I have really enjoyed my time in LaGuardia. My first visit there, we flew in on Delta in the new part of Terminal C which was very nice too, and then departed on AC in Terminal B. We loved those bridges!!
We went in Dec 2022, and again in Jan 2023. The planespotting was fantastic, both from the gates and the bridges, is incredible. The high ceilings are great, and so so so many windows. Did you get to check out the water fountain and lights? I think it was near the stores.
When I first started flying in/out of LGA it was common to see L1011's! Since then, restrictions to make LGA serve regional routes has changed this. Cool bridges!
Alex hi from YYC. I've had the experience of the old version of LaGuardia and it lived up to all the negative press, jokes and fear for your life in some places. Thanks for the look at the new version most definitely an improvement there's actually windows, daylight and ceilings above 10 feet now. As a project manager that must have been quite the assignment, keep the airport operational while rebuilding the whole thing. But those views of the New York skyline for a skyscraper fan were excellent, thanks.
what a beautiful video with views of both amazing cities and the magic of human flight. As an American who has been to and thru Toronto multiple times (and LGA), your video brings back some very fond memories for a fellow av geek.
Yes, it’s one of my favourite lounges in the AC network for the reasons you mention, plus the food/beverage selection is very good compared with what is generally available elsewhere in the terminal. Also, because the terminal is so busy and crowded most of the time I do find the relative tranquility of the lounge to be great value
I was once lucky enough to be on a flight to LGA from either YYZ or YUL (can't remember which), and we came down south along the Hudson River, turned 180 degrees left perfectly over the southern tip of Manhattan and landed on runway 4. One of my favourite ever flying moments, and I'm very glad I chose to sit in the window on the left hand side that day.
Not often they take off from 13 heading east. I’m under the 13 approach. 😊 While the LGA rebuild is gorgeous it’s still missing sensible direct mass transit connections. Maybe in twenty years?
That is lacking from so many of our larger US airports. I wonder if car sharing services will keep such good infrastructure programs from developing in the future. Luckily Seattle got theirs done before the advent of Uber/Lyft, etc. Pearson has great public transport to downtown Toronto, thankfully.
@@steinbockguy It’s a very complicated problem in NYC and ride sharing fills a niche but only that. Mass transit projects are a huge disruption, uprooting people and businesses, so the fight to approval takes years and projected costs are a tough sell.
@@MaShcode You're def right on all accounts. City, State and local culture also plays a role. I grew up in Los Angeles, and when I was younger, the idea of public transport was anathema to the LA lifestyle at the time.
Mr. Praglowski, I don't know you at all, but the excitement you convey in this upload is infectious, and I thank you for it. We thank you, as well, for showing us part of the new LGA. New York finally got its act together and completely rebuilt what had arguably been one of the US' worst super-busy airports, in terms of passenger experience. The new facility looks great! I hope to see it some day soon.
awesome vid love the new LGA as someone who lives in New Work its really wonderful! also one day you should try out ISP its smaller airport on long island NY which really cool with stunning views
I am also from Calgary and flew on from the old original Calgary Airport. It's amazing how 50 years makes a difference. I was there when the new Calgary International Airport opened officially, and one of the British Concorders landed, making the first International flight. I also got to see up and personal the Antonov 225. That is a beast!
I remember when I stepped off of my southwest flight to LGA in 2019 and I had no idea about the update of the airport and I walked out of the gate and was shocked. Finally!!!! LGA is a nice airport and I’m very excited to fly out of it anytime I fly out of New York.
I’m flying to LaGuardia from Montreal on August 12th. I’m so excited to see this new terminal since the last time was in 2013 and it was the old ugly terminal for air Canada.
I was in New York in the fall of 2019 (pre-Covid), and I did fly Air Canada. If I had known that’s what was happening, I would’ve paid more attention to the inside of Terminal B.
Flew out of terminal C with Delta this summer, while there were some temporary routing to get to our gate area otherwise we only passed through the refurbished areas, got to say it left me with a great impression of the new LGA being one of the best in the US. Great video and greetings from Finland 😊
Amazing video!! Would still love to know if AC plans to update the interior of their 321 fleet? Seems like they are slowly updating Rouge cabins and have some interesting developments for the Express cabins. Hope they either update or seek to replace the legacy 321s with a more modern product.
Wow Alex, what a view leaving LGA. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. I don't have a passport yet, but if I did, I would fly to LGA and back just because lol. Another great video!
Seattle recently added a over-taxiway bridge connecting the S terminal with everything else. I taxied under it on a Delta 737-890 a while back. LGA’s bridge is a lot more close to the airplanes taxiing underneath though. 😅
Amazing video, Alex. Glad you enjoyed the New LGA> It's always a treat flying in and out of. Cool to see that Air New Zealand B752 out at the 5 Towers LGA.
Great video as always, but especially spectacular views both of NYC and YYZ! I really do hope you have the opportunity to fly into LGA, the approach is just as enjoyable. I also hope you have the chance to check out the lounge ... one of the great things about watching so many of your videos is that I feel like I have a good sense of your tastes and preferences when you fly, and I sense you would appreciate the AC lounge at LGA. Thanks and all the best!
It's such an unnatural experience seeing an aircraft like that from above! Very cool video, I'm glad you posted! That being said....despite the renovations, I hear the delays are still hell there as we saw recently. Shame you cut the footage of Mississauga a few seconds too late....I wanted to see my house! haha.
The briges to gate islands are a BIG thing. Same video on that aspect once and the gained efficincies in aircraft and service vehicle movements are huge. You can work with planes all flowing in one direction so that arriving planes arrive and work their way to their gates in cockwise fashion and departing planes depart in clockwise as well ,so there is never any conflict between planes going against each other. And if normal direction of travel is blocked, planes can also go the other way out of the terminal area.
How full was this flight? This A321 used all of its engine power to get off the ground using 4000 feet of runway, a bit more than half of runway's 13 length (a 7000 foot runway).
Wow, LaGuardia really looks nice now. I remember going a few years ago and the terminals were those old, low ceiling, dirty and congested old terminals you see too many airports in the US have. Hope more airports follow suit. Dulles Airport is almost there, they have a classic 60s check in hall that may be old but still feels and looks great, a very nice terminal A/B but their C/D terminals are still that older, boring type of terminal.
I preferred the old La Guardia. It allowed me to land, and get on a bus or a cab within 5-10 minutes. In the new airport, it seems we have to walk forever to get to the airport exit. The same takes place now when departing as well, walk forever until getting to the gate. I get that the restaurants and food options are better, but I want to be in an airport as little as possible, and the new La Guardia just seems to be an overpriced food court/shopping mall where I can catch a plane. I don't care for shopping at an airport. Everything is overpriced, and I've already checked my bags anyway by the time I get to the shopping areas. Just build something that lets me get to the exit from the plane as quickly as possible, and from the street to the gate. La Guardia doesn't offer that. It's much nicer, cleaner and better food, but if I want to show up as late as possible, none of this really is of much value.
Did you happen to grab any pics or videos of the first part of the customs arrival in YYZ? Like just after leaving the plane. Always been curious to check it out but I’ve only departed from those gates!
I flew LaGuardia last week, the airport is wayyyyyy better than Toronto Pearson , first thing first, they have move variety of restaurants which Pearson is has limited of choices. they also have a better plane spotting without going to the lounge. The last point is definitely a bounce point, they have a free shuttle bus run by the MTA from the airport to the subway station. Then you can take the subway or purchase ticket.
Flew there back in October for vacation there. Was very skeptical after hearing everything about it but was pleasantly surprised by how great it was. Although, no wide body airplanes made it sad to me because I love seeing those behemoth birds. (And JFK was too expensive to fly into)
Maybe you can a review on the new Newark terminal! I flew on Air Canada from Calgary to Newark a few months back and arrived in the old terminal they were ready to close- let’s just say it felt like such a downgrade from YYC. Maybe you can try that route via Air Canada once you land in NYC again!!
I flew from LGA terminal B 18 months ago and was majorly impressed given that I had been through a couple of times in the 80's and 90's and even then it was appalling. I make a video of my AC flight from LGA to YUL with Maple leaf lounge. visit and separate Terminal B video if anyone is interested.
Nice travelogue! Gee, I flew on my first flight without my parents from LaGuardia in 1972. Yes, I’m old! It was considered very modern then! But LGA will never be an efficient airport because the runways are short and they intersect. TBH, I find Newark to be the most convenient of the three major NYC airports. I noticed you flying over the Tappan Zee Bridge at 8:02 - here’s a video I took of the bridge being constructed; the span it replaced was built in 1952 ua-cam.com/video/GRFxe0BzlMA/v-deo.html
I saw I real Manson family member at LaGuardia back in the mid 80's, as well as watching security tackling homies stealing briefcases from people lined up at rental car agencies...Good times lol
I always fly out of LGA instead of JFK... I always go every year and especially when it was still under renovation. It's really nice and clean. I prefer it over JFK though.
😊Man I hope to see The New La Guardia Airport whenever I Visit New York City again Soon God's Willing Awesome Trip Report on Air Canada A321 out of New York City New La Guardia Airport Alex Awesome Video!!!!
I flew through LGA in 2013 or 2014 and yeah, wow. Completely demolished and rebuilt is definitely what it needed.
Finally LaGuardia getting a new Airport. Jeez I remember flying in to there from Toronto Myself. It was horrible.
Not a new airport. Still the same runways meaning same delays.
The transformation of Terminal B is more spectacular than the views 😮
Those views from a one hour flight were spectacular.

What a great departure. Glad you enjoyed the new La Guardia, and thank you for bringing us along.

Please do another video in the future trying out that new maple leaf lounge

The Skybridges are incredible! From the perspectives of both an engineer and a plane watcher!
I just had a layover at LaGuardia on Wednesday!
It was quite nice!

I was through LGA just a few weeks ago and was BLOWN AWAY. A complete transformation and very worthy of the awards it's been getting.
Love your videos Alex, so professional and informative
Wow! LaGuardia needed this big time
You would have loved the LGA maple leaf lounge! It has a great view of the apron and last time I was there I spent a good four hours planespotting.
Yes, it’s one of my favourite lounges in the AC network for the reasons you mention, plus the food/beverage selection is very good compared with what is generally available elsewhere in the terminal. As a New Yorker, I always love landing over the city when it happens
Great vid, Alex. The updated LGA looks impressive. And, it's hard to complain about those views! Well done.
Alex, I find it really ironic that you posted this video because literally two days ago I flew back from New York City and I flew out of LaGuardia
Nice View of the grounded AN-124.
Great views of NY and Toronto all in an hour's flight, I need to try this flight someday.
In 2018 I did all three New York airports in one trip. YEG-MSP-EWR, next day JFK-DXB, following week DXB-JFK…subway/walk to LGA, LGA-YYZ-YEG
I flew AC701 from LGA to YYZ back in April. Pleasant flight and the crew was amazing. First time flying the A220 and loved it!

Nice vid
did you see that antonov an 124?
How did you like nyc?
Wait you are in Toronto?? Lemme come meet you!
Also I might've seen your flight out of my bedroom window
I was at LGA in 2022 when travelled for DFW with 4 hours stopover.
aeroplane credit card worth it ?
It was a horrible place before this new development. So much memoirs 😩
it looks much better then i remember 10 years ago was by far the worst airport i have ever been to .. rude people too
Yeah I remember New Yorkers were always very rude or very nice...no middle ground whatsoever!
I flew into LaGuardia in May too to explore NY. Was quite surprised how big the airport is!
I sat in YOW about a week ago and got C-GUAC (A220-300) taxiing in from YYZ. Along with sitting in the gate next to Air France 327
LaGuardia may be better, but it's still LaGuardia and has that LaGuardia jank.
The new LGA is nowhere near the old LGA, which had narrow walkways and low dark ceilings. Amazing transformation indeed.
