Probably the best version of this song, ever. So glad Richard got the rights back. And what a time to grow up the 90s were. As a middle age man now, all these songs have so much more meaning; Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Shed Seven, Verve... Damn. What a great time to be alive.
Phenomenal, his voice has actually got better after all these years. Can't help think of my grandparents whenever I hear this song, most of them died after horrid battles with cancer of one form or another. I have only two vivid memories of my dad's dad, one of which is seeing him in his bed hooked up to breathing apparatus, too weak to move, and even as a kid I could see the suffering in his face. I was older when my mum's parents passed a few years apart, both of them suffered terribly and it was so awful to see not only their health declining but their will to live. The song is right, the drugs don't work, they prolong the suffering. One of my favourite.songs.of all time but it always put me in such a rubbish mood after 😅 fuck cancer.
My heart goes out to the fellow peeps on here cos they miss their parent. Richard ashcroft perfectly describes the horror of seeing a parent going through cancer and not being able to do anything to stop it. When all hope is lost its crushing. I sang this song to my dad and held his hand. I hope more than anything i see him again.
What an era for music, I started the nineties as a 15 year old Mancunian and ended the decade in my mid twenties. Through that time (in no particular order) i enjoyed acid house, old skool raves, nirvana, Madchester, oasis, the verve etc. wow how lucky I was.
I sat in my Grandad's kitchen the night of his funeral and I sang this from the bottom of my heart. It was all I had to give the man. That is 21 years ago. I bought Urban Hymns the year it came out and it is still fucking beautiful. ❤
In the starting days of global pandemia of coronavirus, the persons i think about are the nurses and doctors in Spain and Italy... love u guys...keep on!.....A scrub nurse from Greece!

Love this video. I keep coming back to it after so many years. The other song, also played in this session, Lucky Man, is another great example of this man's gift. Can you imagine being in that space as someone that works there? What a treat that would be after reading a gazillion emails, looking at spreadsheets, etc. :)
I’m only clean about 3 weeks now but I’m going to really try to do it this time around.so I’m just trying to get some good soport from anyone else who’s been there and they are doing really well with the way it should have been for the beginning. I’m done with my old ways now 😊
Sorry to hear about your brother. I know what you mean, not much geta me to show my emotions, but this is one version of a song which is 100% guaranteed, within a couple of minutes will have tears rolling down my cheeks. How artists perform these beauties without themselves welling up remains a mystery to me. But I'm so so grateful the world has such talented people for us all to enjoy.

Ridiculously talented, under rated, brilliance... I’ll be listening to this in 30 years time and still finding his voice incredible ..
What a song
How the fuck is he under rated? Seriously.
A good voice doesn't ever sound not good. Sure the sound quality is bad on some recordings from the 30s/40's but you can still hear how good the singing is
Was around when he made the scene...be 20+ years now...Glad to hear you'll still be listening, but don't call someone under-rated because you just heard of them.
xzysyndrome - cheers for the reply.. But sorry mate, ashcroft and the verve were a big part of my musical upbringing when I was a teenager. I just always felt like he/they never got as much attention as oasis or others at the same time.
Anyway, Imo guys a legend. Was simply sharing a thought.
I will be right there with you Awesome song Got a ticket for playing it too loud on my car stereo The neighbours dont like it on my guitar with the amp on rock the walls volume Im only 62 They need to get used to it And Creep and Gangstas paradise Jenny 😘😀
This song takes me back to 20 yrs ago, when I saw my mum going through chemotherapy. Sad, but cathartic, art turning feelings into words. I love Richard, wish he could come play in Brazil.
💙
Bless you ♥️
God bless you
hope she made it
This was played at our sons funeral last year. He was 23. Chemo drugs never worked for him after a 4yr fight.
Even the guy downstairs from me loves this
Im 65 and hes 100 yrs old goes to show we're never too old to appreciate the finest music has
This is surely it
Jenny, Guernsey 🇬🇬 ♥❤
That’s beautiful to hear. Our spirits are eternal they know no age.
Shine on…
@@bugiggy01 Thank-you Listened to my favourite playlist with this on 3 times ,getting out of bed this morning

Hoping to get my Guitar and amp back from Police very soon 🥴🙄😱
awww 😘🫂
Not sure how I landed here, but Mr Ashcroft has a new fan. This is a fucking gem of a performance
It's SO GOOD to hear Richard Ashcroft singing live... he's sounding great.
This is the song that made me appreciate music again, stopped listening as it was painful, took a long time to realise there is no joy without pain,oh Lord ❤️
Probably the best version of this song, ever. So glad Richard got the rights back. And what a time to grow up the 90s were.
As a middle age man now, all these songs have so much more meaning; Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Shed Seven, Verve... Damn. What a great time to be alive.
He never lost the rights to this song you doofus- it was bittersweet symphony you’re confusing it with.

50 years old here listening this 4 days off a new decade. ✌️
On point, your correct. i'm still suffering 20 years later, i thought thing's got easier but i guess not :-(
'And baby ooooohhh'- melts me 20 years later
Totally agree love that bit
The music drops a little and 15 secs of hairs standing on end
If you ever lost a loved one, this song is one of the deepest ever
What a voice, what a beautiful flawless performance! This gave me goosebumps! Just incredible.
Best version I've ever heard of this song. I can certainly relate to the lyrics as well.
Mamma mia che capolavoro di brano.. esecuzione al top. Bei ricordi.
People in the comments saying he is criminally underrated ...He never was and never will be ...Rule Britannia
What a voice! Note perfect from start to finish.
He has gotten better as he has gotten older.
Pure Genius
Unbelievable isn't he? Legend
The guy just has the purest most effortlessly perfect voice ,a true gift to music 👍👍👍👍👍
What an era for music, I started the nineties as a 15 year old Mancunian and ended the decade in my mid twenties. Through that time (in no particular order) i enjoyed acid house, old skool raves, nirvana, Madchester, oasis, the verve etc. wow how lucky I was.
Sweet Lord… this took me back a few years….when times were the best
I sat in my Grandad's kitchen the night of his funeral and I sang this from the bottom of my heart. It was all I had to give the man. That is 21 years ago. I bought Urban Hymns the year it came out and it is still fucking beautiful. ❤
As soon as he hit the first word.....HOME.
WOW....his vocal is mighty.
In the starting days of global pandemia of coronavirus, the persons i think about are the nurses and doctors in Spain and Italy... love u guys...keep on!.....A scrub nurse from Greece!
Well said my friend there doing a grand job some tidy we nurses were i am keeps me up 😄🙏
and now..
Beautiful song, beautifully sung for a beautiful man.
I was 16 when this song came out. It touched me so deeply back then, and it still does! I am so grateful to have been alive for songs and performances like this! 💜💜
If this was the last tune I heard , I’d be happy.
Got to be one of the best live performances of a song ever
simply love this song, and richard's voice is so perfect here ♡
Unbelievable!
Takes me back so many years when life was soooooo different, I've got goosebumps!
He performs it even better with time.
Love this video. I keep coming back to it after so many years. The other song, also played in this session, Lucky Man, is another great example of this man's gift. Can you imagine being in that space as someone that works there? What a treat that would be after reading a gazillion emails, looking at spreadsheets, etc. :)
2020 just turned 50..fkn love this song.. Times hurrying on... 🇬🇧❤️
That line "times hurrying on" just made me well up and i have no idea why.

Eternal love for this song and the decade, the 90’s, what a time to be alive! Quality music, unbelievable memories.
I’m only clean about 3 weeks now but I’m going to really try to do it this time around.so I’m just trying to get some good soport from anyone else who’s been there and they are doing really well with the way it should have been for the beginning. I’m done with my old ways now 😊
My little brother died of an overdose and then this came out soon after... I always come back for a cry session. Miss you Gray xx
Clear Cloud sorry to hear I’m sure his looking down at you 🙏
Sorry to hear about your brother.
