  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In this terrific and witty closing of TEDxLiverpool, Sir Ken Robinson argues that talent is often buried and that we need to search for it. In fact, the foundation of wisdom may be the willingness to go and look for it..
Sir Ken Robinson originally from Liverpool now lives in Los Angeles with his family.
Sir Ken is a TED icon having given three presentations on the role of creativity in education (His 2006 talk has attracted over 27 million views and seen by an estimated 250 million people worldwide) and changed the lives of many.
In 2011 he was listed as “one of the world’s elite thinkers on creativity and innovation” by Fast Company magazine, and was ranked among the Thinkers50 list of the world’s top business thought leaders.
Sir Ken comes from an arts in education background influencing the formulation of the National Curriculum in England. For twelve years, he was professor of education at the University of Warwick, and is now professor emeritus. He has received honorary degrees and honours for his services to the arts and education from many institutions around the world.
Sir Ken is a best selling author and co-author of a wide range of books, reports and articles on creativity, the arts, education and cultural development.
In 2003, he received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II for his services to the arts.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I didn’t realize Sir Ken Robinson passed away back in 2020. Such a shame. I’ve always loved going back and listening to his talks on UA-cam. He has so many good points.
Even many of my “therapists” tried telling me I needed to “grow up” and “go through the motions” of job, marriage, kids, work, sleep, work, sleep, weekend, work, sleep, retire. They actively tried to talk me out of my passions
I’m so much happier now that I’ve found passion in life. Without passion, what’s the point?

The most influential idea that I got in the whole speech is "It is completely fine if You don't know anything even if you are considered a genius because Life is all about learning from curiosity and curiosity comes from unknowingness."

Honestly, any talk by Sir Ken Robinson is a foundation wisdom. Ponder on his words.Sweeter as we listen to and try to understand him again and again repeatedly. All his talks are serious facts but full of anecdotes, humour constantly spurting with brilliance of human intellect. He is a source of inspirational speaker for several more young generations to come.May we listen to him for several more of his talks to come.He has the natural ability to inspire others to notice synergies in themselves. That"s what he is! Any one who listens to his talks is lucky to brush with thinking hat.
    May GOD bless Sir KR.

"Nothing is so influential as a life well lived" (at the end of the talk) - Here, "well lived" needs some precisions, even if it seems obvious at first sight. A "not well lived life" can also have tremendeous impact on others (and not necesseraly a negative one).
So, can somebody develop the meaning of his sentence in context?

People are so often dismissive of good leaders and even people who are willing today "I don't know." How many presidential candidates will say that before they come up with some BS remark that only fools a small percent of those listening? Well, those are the ones who get voted in aren't they? Too shame. We should appreciate those who are willing to discover what they don't know instead of rest on their assurance that they can fool people into thinking they do know, or worse, actually thinking they do know something when they don't"
It is often a wise person who knows what he doesn't know.

I am sorry to say but you are wrong about dogs, or in particular my dog, Marmite. He is a sensitive soul and often reacts to the call for walkies with a roll of the eyes. Other human behaviours include saying hello to friends who visit. He is also a gentleman, letting others walk through doors ahead of him. He is a Rotweiller X who really considers himself more man than dog. I can provide witnesses and evidence...
