Oh boy, you've found and unlocked Chinchilla, another branch off the Ren tree. As you will find as you go along the Ren journey, he only seemingly surrounds himself and attracts fellow geniuses. Chinchilla is a real force of nature with her own signature style and fashion (makes many of her own outfits) and is a beacon for female empowerment. I highly recommend watching his 8 chapters on his renmakesstuff channel. Their he talks about his life especially abouts the 8 years that he was sick and suffering, The lyrics of his songs hit very diffrent after hearing his story entirely. When he was ill he was searching for stories of hope stories of people that went through these conditions. That's why he decided to share his story now for the sake of people that are in the dark and suffering mentally or physically. Ren tackles some really difficult subjects, but I have to listen because his music is so amazing. He doesn’t only make you listen; he helps you understand - not just on an intellectual level, but beyond that, on an emotional level. I think that is what real art is supposed to do.

In the video Eden Ren says he’s an agnostic that believes…in people. This song was written about how he felt after he lost his friend Joe. He was no longer the person he was before. Freckled Angels, Suic!de, and For Joe were also written ‘for Joe’.
@@wynandfouriemusic it really is. Joe was, clearly, a good guy that was very much loved. Losing Joe that way showed Ren how much family and friends hurt afterwards. He’s said that at the worst of his illness, knowing the pain those actions cause, kept him around.

There are a few songs (is it 4?) which relate to Ren's loss of his friend Joe. Ren cleverly mixed parts of some together into another song. Parts of the songs *Freckled Angels and *Suic!de, both feature in *For Joe. I suppose there was/is a form of survivor guilt and these songs were Ren's way of coming to terms with the loss of his mate, that night and his inability to change the outcome. There was a second childhood friend, Callum who was lost, not long after. Not too long ago, Ren wrote *Mackay in memory of him. Chinchilla is another of Ren's friends who is just phenomenal. She certainly is one of the best and most interesting female artists around, with her amazing vocal control. She has some fabulous songs. The live of *Fingers is a great start, as is her more recent *1:5 (as in ratio of 1:5). She often makes her own costumes/hats. Her nails are for confidence singing in front of camera/audience. I have seen this song and *Chalk Outlines so many times, yet every time I worry for Ren's eyes, even though I know the outcome is favourable. Funny how our minds try to trick us sometimes!!

In an interview, Ren said he imagined that, except for the last couple lines, this could be from Joe's perspective. Joe was best friend from age 6. He took his own life at age 19. He was covered in freckles, thus Ren's "freckled angel." Ren said he he & Chinchilla are musical siblings. When she was asked in an interview about their eye contact while singing, she said when they sing together "it just happens."

The breathing so loudly seems to suggest a haunting to me. Ren is haunted by the death of his best friend, Joe, who jumped from a bridge in his home town in Wales. Even as he prepared for this video, he cried, and you will notice the tear rolling down his cheek at the end. Ren wrote about his friend in many videos.

I just love these two together , simply the best duo in many years! There do a few wonderful tracks together. Another brilliant track is Ren with Molly McKinna " Peintence " and his busking with Liv Sangster is awesome , and last and not least his duets with Eden! Great reaction again.

That defiant look on the "Where is my God, where are you?" has such pain and heart break in it. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Daisy is about a 1/2 a "note" behind Ren on their, almost a call and response making it even more impactful. Ren writes his own lyrics. He misses the person he was before Joe jumped. When you get to Su!cide, For Joe and Freckled Angels you will get more of an insight. OR you can watch The Chapters - Ren went Missing. 8 Chapters of about 15-20 minutes long with a corresponding song at the end of each. He shared his story in the run up to the release of "Troubles" which is the song for Chapter 8. Others have already answered the "Is Ren a Christian?" question, though I'd like to add to that answer with what I feel is greater context. With Ren's illness, and loss of good friends, Ren studied many different religious and scientific subjects to try to get answers. He even went to a Celtic shaman to try to find relief from he disease (which obviously didn't work, because he's still sick). He just happens to enjoy using Christian images and concepts in his work. If you watch the video “Heretic”, he also uses images there that I interpret as being more pagan.

Ren is not a classic god botherer type. He has said that in the depths of his suffering he tried all sorts of different spiritual approaches, examined some way out there beliefs, as he clutched at straws looking for anything that might help him...
Ren's looked into many religions and supernatural belief systems. Although he's found things he likes and admires, he's never found himself able to believe in any of them. He says he always had too many questions that they had deeply unsatisfactory answers to. He's also said that he finds it hard to believe without some kind of proof or evidence, so can't commit to blind faith. He describes himself as an agnostic but, as with most people who describe themself thus, is really an agnostic atheist. Part of him wants to believe in god/s but is unable to. If you don't believe in gods and goddesses, you're an atheist, even if you're not keen on the term. People often see agnosticism as a kind of halfway house between theism and atheism. It isn't. Gnosticism/agnosticism address knowledge claims and the certainty, or not, of such claims. Theism/atheism are to do with belief. You can have agnostic atheists and agnostic theists. Similarly there are gnostic theists and even some gnostic atheists. There are even religious atheists. Many buddhists, for example.

In an interview, Ren said he imagined that, except for the last couple lines, this could be from Joe's perspective. Joe was best friend from age 6. He took his own life at age 19. He was covered in freckles, thus Ren's "freckled angel."
Ren said he he & Chinchilla are musical siblings. When she was asked in an interview about their eye contact while singing, she said when they sing together "it just happens."

The breathing so loudly seems to suggest a haunting to me. Ren is haunted by the death of his best friend, Joe, who jumped from a bridge in his home town in Wales. Even as he prepared for this video, he cried, and you will notice the tear rolling down his cheek at the end. Ren wrote about his friend in many videos.

I just love these two together , simply the best duo in many years! There do a few wonderful tracks together. Another brilliant track is Ren with Molly McKinna " Peintence " and his busking with Liv Sangster is awesome , and last and not least his duets with Eden! Great reaction again.

That defiant look on the "Where is my God, where are you?" has such pain and heart break in it. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Daisy is about a 1/2 a "note" behind Ren on their, almost a call and response making it even more impactful. Ren writes his own lyrics. He misses the person he was before Joe jumped.

He shared his story in the run up to the release of "Troubles" which is the song for Chapter 8. Others have already answered the "Is Ren a Christian?" question, though I'd like to add to that answer with what I feel is greater context. With Ren's illness, and loss of good friends, Ren studied many different religious and scientific subjects to try to get answers. He even went to a Celtic shaman to try to find relief from he disease (which obviously didn't work, because he's still sick). He just happens to enjoy using Christian images and concepts in his work.
If you watch the video “Heretic”, he also uses images there that I interpret as being more pagan.

Ren is not a classic god botherer type. He has said that in the depths of his suffering he tried all sorts of different spiritual approaches, examined some way out there beliefs, as he clutched at straws looking for anything that might help him...
You definitely want to check out some of Chinchilla's solo work.

Ren's looked into many religions and supernatural belief systems. Although he's found things he likes and admires, he's never found himself able to believe in any of them. He says he always had too many questions that they had deeply unsatisfactory answers to. He's also said that he finds it hard to believe without some kind of proof or evidence, so can't commit to blind faith. He describes himself as an agnostic but, as with most people who describe themself thus, is really an agnostic atheist. Part of him wants to believe in god/s but is unable to.
If you don't believe in gods and goddesses, you're an atheist, even if you're not keen on the term. People often see agnosticism as a kind of halfway house between theism and atheism. It isn't. Gnosticism/agnosticism address knowledge claims and the certainty, or not, of such claims. Theism/atheism are to do with belief. You can have agnostic atheists and agnostic theists. Similarly there are gnostic theists and even some gnostic atheists. There are even religious atheists. Many buddhists, for example.
