Social media for students is VERY different compared to what you do for social on your general church pages. Hope you enjoy these best practices!

Thanks Brady for the video. Do you plan on doing a follow up video on how more precisely a youth leader can use Instagram or TikTok. As an older youth leader, I could use all the help I can get.

Yes, connecting with students is the goal and social can be daunting because doing it right requires a different skillset and creative thought process than planning events or writing sermons. It's important to carve out the time in your schedule to do it properly. Thanks!

Thank you for this. I would love more discussions about ministry to youth through social media. I am a lay-leader of a youth group in a smaller church and I am trying to navigate the world of ministry through social media without much in the way of resources and this helps keep me moving in the right direction.

Once again, I've found myself rewatching another of your videos. There's so much to unpack and contemplate that I need time to pray and consider an action plan and next steps. I love the framework you've provided here and that you've considered our young people's intake of media. I know people of all ages who have an unhealthy consumption of media (and sometimes, I'm there too). Thanks!

Bro as a missional content creator here in Cambodia I just want to commend you for helping the Church to get behind the inevitable direction of communicating in this digital era. So well thought out specifically the Public vs. Private communication reality and how Social media is a massive opportunity to be embraced not a thing to be feared or demonized. Including the personal testimonies really drove home this reality. Keep it Going!

Hey Brady. Many churches and youth pastors struggling to shift to a lot of online care because of restrictions when it comes to Protection Plans. If you're ever looking to make another walkthrough video on this theme, an extremely helpful topic would be how to record/save/recover chats for the purposes of transparency and protection of students and leaders. I'd also love to hear your opinion on which social platforms are the "safest" for use in these areas.
Thanks as always for everything you're doing. Quick colour grading in Davinci has really upped my content game, and it's all because of you brother!

    • @prochurchtools

This is why Instagram Direct group chats are great. Because there are multiple people in the group which makes for good accountability. And then, if you're using an Instagram Business Account (which you should be), all of your direct messages are visible on both your phone, but also in your Facebook Business account on desktop so you can have more than one pair of eyes on all the personal messages and they get archived so they're not disappearing.

At this point, I'm just getting ready to launch an Instagram account for the whole church, I assume we should have a completely separate account for Student Ministry?

Hey Brady...I appreciate your message in the video! I have watched many of your videos (and they're great) and I would love to see more on Student Min content. You have so much great info to share and I would love to learn more (old dog...Full-time Student Min for 22 years)! I totally get the info graphic you showed that have TikTok and SnapChat for students consumption (2nd, 3rd) but I have not sipped the koolaide of these platforms. In my opinion, there are too many risks in TikTok and SnapChat to pushing students towards, especially in trying to appear above reproach...how can we utilize Instagram as a primary Social Media platform for Students? I love the idea of Direct Groups and I will be putting those in play...but how can we create Instagram fun that is equal to the TikTok and SnapChat craze?

I’m in School to be a Youth Pastor. I just have one question. I’ve always been weary of using TikTok. I know many parents are also against it. Would it be wrong to avoid tiktok? How do I navigate around that? (Not just tiktok, but other platforms as well) Would it be secluding to the youth who arent allowed to have social to create a private group through social? (Im asking to learn, not to critique)

I think it's a product of the bullying/pressures on young people online. It can feel too vulnerable. Especially if you're not one of the most popular kids. So trying to remain more anonymous is the natural response to that.

What are your views on leaders following/friending etc students on social media? As a blanket understanding, we kind of just don't do it.
