Senna crashed just before the tunnel in ‘88 and walked to his apartment which is/was very close on Av. Princesse Grace. The building is called Houston Palace.
Senna saying “And I suddenly realized that I was no longer driving the car consciously.” while going 2 seconds faster per lap than anyone else. That's pretty iconic.
He was 1 minute faster than Prost LOL

As a Colombian, my best memory was Juan Pablo Montoya's win in 2003. My dad would wake me up every race day, early in the morning, while he was competing in the category, to watch his races and those are really some of the fondest memories of my childhood, spending time with my dad, having breakfast in front of the TV, watching the race and stressing the f out the entire race haha. I remember that day in 2003, I was 8 years old, my dad woke me up and told me that Montoya had qualified 3rd the day before so he could have a chance to get on the podium, we sat in front of the TV in the living room, he was having eggs and coffee and I was eating cereal, the race started, we were locked onto the screen the entire time and once Montoya got in first place we didn't utter a single word until the race was done, I remember looking at the floor almost every corner cause I thought that I'd jinx it so he'd crash and once he finally crossed the finish line in first place I remember running to wake my mom and my brother up so they could come and see how a fellow Colombian had just won the most prestigious race in all of motorsport. Awesome day.

It’s absolutely incredible to hear how one of the greatest drivers ever measured himself against someone like Lewis down to the finest detail. It’s also fascinating how much thought they put into every single aspect of the lap, including even keeping the steering straight for longer on the exit of the nouvelle chicane

Best memory is absolutely Daniel Ricciardo getting his redemption, after what happened in 2016, and what seemed was gonna happen again in 2018, him being able to hold on brought tears to my eyes.
For me the most memorable is actually quite painful which is when Riccardo Went into the pits from the lead and didn't have any tires ready for him.
Amazing!! It's a really pleasant experience to 'see' the inner pilot vision from your analysis, far more treating the most beautiful track in the F1 championship! Great job Nico in and outside the tracks!!
I just found out that Nico uploads content to YB, I love the in-depth perspectives he can give on the circuits and of course, on everything that surrounds the top flight. It's amazing how after achieving what he has achieved and being the person he is he still keeps this humility, empathy and creativity so alive. An absolute legend.

I was gonna say this same one... I think that was 2018, right? When he had one of the Ferraris on his tail ready to make a move if he made a mistake... Top drive from him!
Absolutely loved it, would’ve been great to see him at the top in practice this week, really hoping he gets along with his car in Qualifying!
That is in my top 5 drives I've ever seen and I've seen them all back to the early 80s
for me that was the moment when F1 showed how Monaco isn't suited for f1 racing anymore
I mean there are tracks where overtaking is notoriously difficult, like Hungaroring or Yas Marina, Sochi and so on. But on none of those tracks a car that had basically a gp2 engine could have any chance to win a race.
And that just doesn't seem fair, it clearly shows how impossible it is to overtake at Monaco with current f1 cars, no matter how slow the car in front might be
Ricciardo jumping into the Red Bull pool in 2018 after his victory, with all the problems he suffered during that race and the one two years before, really redemption day

I like the perspective given by someone who experienced so many different results from racing on this track. It makes for a very insightful breakdown, and I also find his humbleness in recounting his successes as well as his misfortunes quite inspiring.

Not all real drivers are gonna be good at sim racing than others that have been doing it for ages
@@sirpenguin3256 a 1:17.197 isn't that slow he would have been a bit over 2 seconds slower than the world record and he also made some mistakes in the lap
@@hubertkam7647 Cars are much slower in the sim because it has different steering lock, it couldn't handle hairpins properly.

Most memorable moment (especially as a French national) : 1996 - Out of the 20 drivers, only 3 finishes the race due to very poor conditions and lots of crashes / mechanical failures. Moreover, Olivier Panis wins the Monaco GP, before Gasly won Monza in 2020, it was the last French who won a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Most memorable moment of Monaco GP for me, was Ayrton Senna's performance in 1984 with Toleman at his debut season. Polemical ending time of the race... Beautiful place!
My most special moment was as a new F1 fan, discovering Monaco and realizing the heritage and legend of this special place.

I visited Monaco only once, back in 2010.
My very best memory is the walk I had from the exit of corner n. 1 up to the casino. Looking at pictures and videos you can't really understand how steep that pice of tarmac is, just amazing, and the view over the port you get once near the Casino is just fantastic.
I'd love to be back in Monaco once more.

I'll usually set the playspeed to x2 ... however seeing you pour out your years of knowledge, passion and experience for free for us to consume made me appreciate every second of it at a normal play speed .. keep it up mann ... hope you'll share more spiritual contents too :)
My most special moment was me as a 6 year old in Monaco watching Kimi win. As a Fin, Kimi was my idol, and hearing the V10s roaring on the streets of Monaco made a lasting impression 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮

I've made "attempts" to learn German, Swedish, French, Spanish, Tagalog, Japanese, Mandarin, and a wee bit of Thai in the course of my travels in the last 60+ years. I've done better in some... not so much in others. I've found that being able or at least willing to attempt to talk with local people in a little bit of their language shows your willingness to make that effort. Most people I've encountered were very appreciative and we had a pleasant visit, as short as it may have been. You're doing just fine! Thanks for the effort.

My most memorable moment is the Ricciardo the “Honey Badger” hating to be the 2nd place after a terrible pit stop. Poor guy
For me Monaco is like the Palio races in Sienna because of so much atmosphere in town and build up of so much energy towards the start of the race and then the release of that energy once the race has started.
For me the most memorable was when Senna was second with a Toleman, but only because the race was stopped for strong rain and the winner was Prost
Michael Schumacher 2012 pole lap after his comback to F1 was the most memorable moment for me.
The 2012 Merc wasn't even their finest car. Monaco really brings out the best of the driver because it's a very technical circuit. Aerodynamic downforce is only as good as the speed you get with the car. The driver's sense and guts (driving fast in a tight circuit with merciless corners if you make a mistake) really shows. Even without another title to take home, MSC really showed he still has some of it. Besides, to be a champion you really have to be in your zone thru the whole season. You can't blame him if he lost that consistency since his departure from F1 at the end of 2006. With age, past his prime, and lack of practice, I was in awe he even managed to clinch a pole position before ultimately retiring from the sport for the last time.
@@Jojo_Bee The fact that has been blowing my mind was how many time Michael changed his brakes balances(including one handed drive through Louis Chiron - incredidle mental capacity) to get a perfect braking setup nearly for each part of the track Neither Nico nor Lewis were doing the same thing there ever.
It’s funny he has to say Lewis to put in perspective of how fast he’s going. He cooped out after playing dirty like Schumacher and beating Hamilton for the championship.

My best Monaco memory is my Dad taking me there for my first (and only) live GP ever in 2006. He saved up for months and surprised me with the tickets on my 18th birthday. And he didn't even watch F1, but he let me give him a giant primer on the tech, drivers, strategy etc. And he actually decided that he would root for Nico lol. We were both pretty bummed when he had to retire the car. That weekend will probably be one of the best of my life until I die. I only hope I can give my future kids such an amazing experience.

Best memory for me was working on a superyacht for the Monaco classic grand prix in 2016. We were berthed trackside just after the chicane after the tunnel. Was an amazing experience, so loud! I was frothing.

My most special moment.... when they showed the Monaco GP in Ironman despite having it all wrong
To be fair, none of the actual actors went to Monaco, that was all recreated on a set. If I remember correctly they just had some lookalikes/scouts for the wide shots in the Rolls Royce and to record a few laps in a camera car to get the details right to recreate on the set.

Biggest moment from this Monaco GP would be when is the TV broadcast literally focused on Kimi walking to his Yacht for nearly 20 minutes until he eventually reached his Yacht 😂

My best memory is actually from my youth, when my father went to Monaco in a business trip and he saw formula one live for the first time. From that point he newer missed a race! It was facinating to se the impact it has on him. And that inspirerad me to start watching formula one.

Miss your wonderful drives. I get the street shoot sort of surveyor with the F1 driver perspective - that is something I've never seen before, very cool.
Being a 8 years kid and watch all work from Senna defensive drive against a faster Mansell in 1992. We were totally nervous watching that race. The fact that Brazil was a completely chaotic country to live at that time, it was a kind of relief for us have Senna as an idol. He gave us plenty reasons to smile, at least on sundays.
