    I like the burnt cheese too. When I make a grilled cheese I make it ‘inside out’ and throw shredded cheese on the outside and crisp it up. That looks like it would be great at an office for a snack!

      There is a Burger joint (or 2) in the Sacramento,CA. area that is famous for its burgers with
      "cheese skirts" (overflowing crispy griddled cheese).
      They're called Squeeze Inn. They'd be right up your alley! I used to go pretty regularly when I lived there...

    The omelet reminds me of an episode of Good Eats. Alton cooked bacon and eggs in a waffle maker. I've been doing that ever since. Fry up a few slabs of bacon in the waffle iron. Then throw in some eggs and cheese which soaks up and residual bacon grease and basically cleans the waffle iron. Add some "syrup" - delicious!

    I have a sandwich maker from years ago. If you trim the crusts to fit the unit it’ll close alittle easier. It also came with a ‘recipe’ for apple pie. Two slices of bread and apple pie filling. The ingredients are endless. Have fun.

    Aussie here, jaffle maker/iron, toasted sandwhich/toastie maker. They usually come double sided, sometimes with four sandwich places. You can get standard or deep dish versions. They're already non-stick but I recommend buttering your bread on the outside too. We fry eggs and bacon, omletts, sweet and savoury toasties, you can use sheets of puff pastry in them. Tortillas work better in the double sided machines.
    You're only limited by your imagination.

    I'm addicted to dash stuff. I have their mini 8in skillet in the truck, the egg cooker, the egg bite maker, all 3 mini products, the personal ice cream maker, the waffle bowl maker, the pie maker, the omelet maker and the kettle. I got the mini oven for my truck but it was junk so I tossed it to Goodwill. I may have a few I missed. I'm looking for the oven thing that looks like a skillet. I love their stuff.

      @@BethyKable that is the thing. Most is still in boxes because I never took it on the truck. I have shelves in my hallway with my appliances because my kitchen was so poorly laid out. No storage. We got hit with Hanna and my house caught fire. Kitchen burned. New kitchen is almost done and I have all these cool appliances and now will have great storage and plenty of counter space and outlets. On the truck usually I have to cook on the floor. I often just do the bare minimum to get by. My main staples there are my 3qt instant pot, my mini waffle and my 8 in dash skillet.

    "Why can't the recipes I work so hard on, turn out ...." Mine don't either. I'm better off keeping it simple. Speaking of simple, have you tried making a tortilla pizza with those tortillas? All I do is par-bake a tortilla, add my favorites toppings and throw it back in the toaster oven. (no pan) I can't get low carb anything here in Baja but will make an exception every now and then and have a flour tortilla. They're 25 carbs ea., so not too bad. Enjoyed your demo!

    I ordered a different brand "sandwich maker" a week ago because it was a great deal and the nostalgia got the best of me. Mostly I figured I'd only use it to force my nostalgia on my children like any good father 🤣 and figured they would have fun creating new sandwich ideas. I didn't even ponder using it for my own keto cooking so thanks for the perfectly timely video with ideas to start with!
    I also recently got an electric pressure cooker for the first time this month andn I'm already loving it... I need to search your videos and see if you've done anything on these yet. But if you are looking for an amazing keto meal to make for a future video, I found a "copycat" keto version of Olive Garden's "Zuppa Toscana soup" using my pressure cooker. So very easy, quick and honestly as good and maybe even better than the "real" version. I'd love to see your spin on that though I assume you are already overloaded with ideas for new videos lol.

    I agree with ChickenParm152 that buttering the bread or tortilla would likely yield better results. I recall these from decades ago when I was a kid.. obviously a full sized sandwich maker not a dash mini. The other factor there was using thin sliced bread, not a regular thickness. Nice idea on the omelette .. never would have thought that would work out so well.

    I love Dash products. In your video you mentioned that you did not know when it was finished. You said "it's been three minutes....." at that very moment the little blue light went off (3:10 / 11:47). This light is not very bright and on my own dash, I have to either turn off the lights or cup my hands over the top to see the light (which can be dangerous with the heat and all). LOL. Love you videos! Would love to see you do more "plant-based" videos!

    • @englishatheart
      @englishatheart 3 роки тому +1

      The light going off means that it's ready to use. The light being on means the appliance is heating up. Once the light turns off, it means it's up to the temperature it heats up to. When you are cooking something in any Dash product for a while, the light will switch on and off multiple times, telling you when it is heating and when it isn't.

    You'd probably have to test it out but if it works then I'll definitely be buying 1 of these.. as I am a single gal so I just cook for myself. I have a dash waffle maker and pancake griddle on the way to me soon. The other appliance I want to get is the Instant Pot Vortex Air Fry oven..

    • @CarbageMan

      I use the mini-griddle to make a "chancake bun." 3/8 cup mozzarella, 1 tsp psyllium husk powder, 1/2 tsp baking powder, and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds on top before closing the lid. I let that go for 6-8 minutes and pull it out with a silicone spatula, which I also use to guide the mixture into the griddle from the measuring cup. Half the mixture makes one griddle-full, so I use two griddles at a time.
      FWIW, I also toast the sesame seeds in the griddles separately, while the griddles are still hot.

    Great ideas. I used my Dash mini griddle today to make breakfast burritos. I set a small ramekin on the bottom and added bacon grease and bacon bits, then added an egg and scrambled it as it cooked. I put the cooked egg into a low carb tortilla with cheese, then buttered the sides of the tortilla and put it in the griddle and put the top down. I turned it halfway through, since the bottom seems to cook faster. Great meal for a lone keto person.

      This weekend, I got addicted to beef dip sandwiches. I'd bought some thin-cut strip steaks, and cooked them sous vide. It turns out they're prefect, along with a "chancake bun" and a slice of havarti. I pour the jus right out of the bag into a ramekin and while the "bun" is toasting, I finished the strip steaks with a weed torch. Sandwich assembles in a couple minutes with a little Chosen Foods avocado mayo. It was even more awesome than I'd hoped.

    The blue light means it's STILL heating up. When the light turns off, it's ready. The instructions are pretty clear on this.

      From there it just indicates power cycling as it hits max and min temp. It has nothing to do with when a food is “done”. You can grab an IR thermometer and test for yourself.

    I like most of the Dash products, but other than the heating plates, they are not the best products to keep clean. My problem with them is that grease tends to buildup under the plates and the only way to clean them is to take them apart, which may not be that easy for some. If Dash could make the plates removable for cleanup, or do a better seal around them, they would be perfect for me. I still would recommend them just remember to clean under the plates from time to time or that rancid smell might be coming from your Dash.

    • @SeriousKeto
      @SeriousKeto  3 роки тому +1

      In my perfect world, Dash would create a 2 "chamber" cooker with interchangeable plates for waffle, griddle, waffle cup, sandwich, and Bundt cake (did I miss anything?). They would also have some sort of "run-off" channel for the oil/grease. I'd gladly pay a premium for such an appliance, but I think Dash realizes that they can just keep selling them as individual units to those of us who are Dash-addicted.

    Old me would have been all over that dash mini pocket maker. But it isn't tempting me now. I do eat keto tortillas sometimes, but the idea of actual bread, even keto bread, turns my stomach a little bit these days. That said, I am haunted by memories of your corn dog maker. I will probably break down and buy it (and then I will use it two times and forget I have it 😂)
    Is that a Ninja grill on the back counter? Do you like it? They take up a lot of real estate on the counter so I am guesing you do like it. I have the Ninja Foodi and think it is a good solid product. It is worth the space and weight because it does so many things.
