刘易斯·芒福德在《机器的神话》中把人类的技术划分为三个连续但又相互重叠、相互渗透的阶段：始生代技术时期、古生代技术时期和新生代技术时期。古生代技术时期即是以煤炭-钢铁为中心的工业革命时期，煤炭资本主义催生了人类膨胀的欲望，让生态系统陷入崩溃。生态学的“盖亚理论”中认为，面对这种生态破环，需要采用挑衅性的新方法去重新配置我们与地球其他生命的关系，因此诞生了概念“克苏鲁世”。
当下，人类仍处在新生代技术时期，机器体系和生命世界结合、从而增强人类肉身变成了受追捧的发展方向。但有别于人类世和资本世主导话语权不同，克苏鲁世强调的是共生与共创，更新大地物种的生物多样性，使地球秩序重新编织。
该作品基于机器神话与盖亚理论，构建了一个未来的共生世界观。人类试图搭建技术神权政治，脑机意识体、异星探索、机器强化肉身、机械城市景观建造，新技术让人类世得到前所未有的发展，克苏鲁世为实现地球共生任务，反向使用技术再生远古生物，将已生成化石的动植物进行改造、进化与交叉繁衍，持续不安地更新多物种故事，重新平衡人类与非人类力量的占比。
该演出作品共分为四个章节：地质时代、机器神权、化石复兴、盖亚景观。在基于人工智能与交互艺术的视听演出中，为观众展现了来自人类、克苏鲁世、机器看待世界的三个不同视角，里世界与外世界、虚拟与真实的边界被打破，在被美好表象包裹的撕裂与分层中，搭建一个新的文明世界。

The work builds a future symbiotic worldview based on machine mythology and Gaia theory. Humanity attempts to build a technological theocracy, with brain-machine consciousness bodies, alien exploration, machine-enhanced physical bodies, and mechanical cityscape construction, new technologies allow the Anthropocene to grow like never before, and the Cthulhu world, in an effort to realise the Earth's symbiotic mission, reverses the use of technology to regenerate ancient organisms, transforming, evolving, and cross-pollinating fossilised flora and fauna, and continues to unsettlingly update the multi-species story to re-balance the human/non-human forces.
The performance is divided into four chapters: Geological Age, Machine Theocracy, Fossil Revival, and Gaia Landscape. In the audio-visual performance based on artificial intelligence and interactive art, the audience is presented with three different perspectives on the world from human, Cthulhu and machine viewpoints, where the boundaries between the inner world and the outer world, the virtual and the real, are broken down, and a new civilised world is constructed in the midst of the tears and layers wrapped up in the beauty of the surface.
