    Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    *Love this unit! Using upstairs in my sons bedroom **Fastly.Cool** and he’s finally able to be comfortable upstairs without me freezing downstairs. Works for more sqft than expected!*

    I do that all the time. I run the generator while driving. I do it to run the rooftop air conditioning, charge my phone, and other things while driving. In fact, I start the generator every time I drive my RV.

    Good topic, thanks for sharing Gary.
    Last year, I overnighted at a Casino parking lot in my Casita Travel Trailer. It was on a 110 degree day. I fired up my Honda 2000 generator with extended run tank about 15 minutes before arrival. It was nice to arrive with an already cooled down interior. I recall too many days setting up popup trailers in the heat and starting a camping outing drenched in sweat.

    I have run a generator for the AC in the MH while driving. It’s rare because I am mindful of gas use and generator wear but the generator has to be run under load at least once a month anyway. I’ve only run it at a campsite once when the entire northern town we were staying in lost power!. Normally I take care not to disturb the neighbours as they likely didn’t drive for miles to listen to my noise. Great boondocking device.

    I have installed a curtain behind the drivers and passengers seats and pull the curtain when I drive down the highway. This reduces the area that the front dash has to cool. This saves the extra fuel that you burn by running the generator. I do leave the vents open at the back of the rig to circulate the air.

    Dwight, I'm almost positive that Gary is referring to running a generator on a motorhome with a built in generator.

    I can see people complaining about the noise of a generator if it was running between 1am and 5am, because most people are sleeping but to think that people aren't going to use a generator during regular daytime hours in a coach they have spent 3-4grand to have as an option, and not use it.. that's laughable

    I agree and disagree to a point. I usually only go camping when weather permits not having to use air conditioning to be comfortable so we rely 100% on 375W of solar to keep things running. Our microwave even runs off an inverter that is power by the batteries so it is 100% silent. I too hate when an RV is running a generator right next to you when it is peaceful day. Now we do own a generator but it is a Honda EU3000is quite one so if we do need to run the air we don't bother anyone.

      Well, considering that the video is about generator use while moving, perhaps you should consider camping somewhere other than the shoulder of the freeway if the noise bothers you.

    does a RV roof ac have a kind of motion sensor that will cause it to cycle on and off quickly enough to kick the generator off which in turns kicks the ac unit off. asking because my gen and ac works just fine as long as we are stationary, but kicks off a few mins after driving down the road.

    My rv has a switch that allows you to charge the rv batteries as you drive but cautions you to turn it off if you intend to drive and run the generator as damage could result, I'm not sure why

  • @dwightstewart7181
    @dwightstewart7181 10 років тому

    Okay, what type of RV are you talking about? A generator should be reasonably monitored while in operation, which is often possible in a motorhome, but not in a travel trailer or similar. And, of course, the key words here are “properly installed.” The generator would have to be installed with use on the road (air intake, exhaust, fuel supply, etc) in mind.

    I just thought of another question concerning operating a 13,000 BTU A/C and a 3.0 amp chest freezer.
    Would it be more economical to operate a propane generator for my purpose?
    Thanx again.

    We need our generator to run an Oxygen concentrator while driving, a necessity since husband is on Oxygen 24/7 . We only use campgrounds with power hook-ups to run the concentrator and tank filler each night and give the generator a rest. I can definatly sympathize with camper parked next to a . running generator which is why we only camp where we can use shore power.

    how many solor panels can you get on top of a 22 ft. motorhome and can you use your microwave without having to start the generator?

    • @arlipscomb
      @arlipscomb 8 років тому +1

      +Jeff Woodard Think of it this way, you are going to run the microwave off of an inverter and your coach batteries. So you need an inverter large enough to power the microwave then enough battery to keep the inverter going for as long as you might need the 110 power. The solar panels just need to be sized to recharge the batteries. Also note that when you are driving down the road, the alternator can be adding to the charge of the house batteries as well.

    • @ballardstowingandoffroadre2367
      @ballardstowingandoffroadre2367 3 роки тому

      You don't "Bleed" Air Brakes !! You "ADJUST" Air Brakes !! Easy way to check is with the motor off and air is bled down, Just pull your Rocker arm to see how much it moves back and forth. You need about s HALF INCH of travel. That should be fine. Do each wheel and make sure all move at the same length!! That way they grab at the same time. So you don't have your steering wheel jerk if one side grabs before the other !! It a simple maintenance !!

    I have a diesel generator mounted at the front of my diesel pusher. Should you run the generator going down the road if you also have a bra on the front of the RV? My take is no, as my generator overheated, and coolant boiled over and smelled like coolant while driving.

    I can't stand generators. You find a nice place to park then someone turns up making a racket with a generator. I don't care if you use it whilst moving but don't use it whilst being stationery. They should be banned in my opinion!

      And besides that when you're trying to stay cool or warm and watching TV cooking dinner the batteries will eventually need to be charged and that would be the generator duh
