Just come back from Norwegian Fjords on Iona and the Celebration night was the one night I hated. Just nonsense that we felt we had to dress up. I wore a suit every day for work until acceptable changes in the workplace took effect. We will not dress formal again on any cruise. A holiday is about being relaxed and comfortable.
There are places you can go where you don’t have to follow the dress code onboard. Always worth checking. If you don’t like a formal dress code there are lots of cruise lines that don’t have one that you might want to try.
My wife liked the formal nights. Need long pants and long sleeve collared shirts for the dining room. Cruise Lines like to keep the A/C on and the MDR or Buffet could be chilly. Don't have many black ties. A few though. Only ship I've ever been on where a jacket is required to be worn to enter was on Cunard. Don't think I could squeeze into my Military Uniform any more.
@@sistersontheseas we’re going on the Iona to Norway so I know it might be a little cold for sandals I think I’m gonna have to buy some sort of shoe and wear them in get used to them. I’m autistic and trainers are my go for comfort and shoes that don’t need socks creep me out so maybe some boots or something. Thanks for replying x

We always enjoy a formal night too!
Very informative video! Nathan’s brother got kicked out of a couple of bars for wearing Chino shorts 😅
Oh no! The shorts rules definitely do get a bit confusing!
Oh really. So smart shorts aren't allowed on casual nights?
@@clareboot1254 They are allowed, but not in certain venues - such as The Crows Nest, Anderson’s etc…. 😢
It’s the trainer situation that’s really stressing me out I don’t even own shoes I hate shoes I’m all trainers 😭😭😭
What ship are you sailing on? We don’t always wear fancy shoes, sometimes it’s just a flat sandal/flip flop which you would definitely get away with
