One of the biggest issues I have with sticking with practice is getting a tone that inspires me to play. That's a major reason why I pre-ordered one of these amps. If I can get something similar to a band I really like, and if I'm trying to learn their songs, the tone I'm hearing is just positive reinforcement. I don't really want to spend the time tackling the learning curve of using guitar VST's in a DAW.
Tone is in the fingers mostly my dude an amp won’t make you sound like slash or mark knofler or anyone else for that matter
@@danieljennings6144 Well duh you have to play it the same way. Try playing Sweet Child of Mine on an Ambient/Dreampop guitar setup. It won’t sound the same.

You're a great player! Your tone is also good with this machine. You're the only demonstator that seems to know how to dial things in on this machine!
Check out The Studio Rats who have just started doing videos for this amp. Their adjustment of the stock out of the box high gain setting is awesome

Karl knows how to dial this thing in--the ONLY one! Every other vid makes this unit suck. The THR OTOH sounds great in EVERY video. That should tell you something about being able to dial in tones, even for noobs.
@@dr150 all of them sound good to me. but when receive it and it happens to suck i will return it and get the yamaha again. I just felt like 400 was too much for an amp with zero low end. but overall it did sound good.
The delivery times are catching up. I ordered one in August and got it in under 3 weeks. Very cool amp. I just sold my THR10 and this is now taking it's place. It does a ton more and has better bass response than the Yamaha. Although the THR is a bit easier to use in some ways but I guess it's because I'm still learning the Spark.
Glad I pre-ordered. Second Christmas in January!

Karl Golden I actually preordered it at $75 off. I have the AMPLIFi 75 and have reviewed it on my channel but this does more and I like the chords thing too. I think I’m going to keep it in the family room to noodle along with tv or just jam to my music collection.
Try before you buy. Many people love these all in one units. To my ears there are subtle but detectable artifacts like crackling sounds in the distortion and a never fully clear clean sound. These things appear over time spent playing with them, once your ear picks them up you may have trouble ignoring the slight imperfections. I have bought top of the line state of the art app based processing units and found myself getting disappointed with their sound within weeks of using them.
Brian Oates this is not the final models to be shipped. The final models are being tweaked to improve the sounds even further 👌
Yeah, but for the price it is hard to beat. It is more than an amp though, the integration with the iPAD and downloading songs and having a backing band in a box to jam with you is amazing at the price point.

I have a looper pedal but as most people know - if you record say a hi-gain riff and try to solo over it through the pedal it gets too muddled up & unusable. Do you know if it possible to pull this off with the Spark? Thanks for the VId!

Couple other questions - is this actually the same Bias Amp and Fx engine? Can you use the same library of tones etc from those or when it shows you typing in and searching tones is that a Spark-specific library?
Sophie Craze it must be from the existing library for them to be over 10k tones. The app to my knowledge isn’t officially released yet
It is NOT from the same bias FX or AMP. This will be exclusively from it's own Spark app. Read their FAQs
Thanks for highlighting everything this amp does. I didn't realize the smart jam feature came up with a bass line, too - thought it was drums only.
How does it handle heavy 7-string/downtuned stuff? Is the bottom end relatively good, or lifeless when quiet/chokes when cranked up?

So everyone I've seen that shows how to use this app keeps showing how you can find cool songs to play along with or import your songs and it'll show you how to play then. Then the app just displays the chords and the reviewer plays the riffs his memorized over the chords. Pretty frustrating.
This amp was amazing. I used it for four months and raved about it. One of my freinds even bought one for himself. I was so positive!
Then one day I turned it on and HISSSSSSSSSSSS. What a horrible sound. Nothing worked. I tried all sorts of ways to make the noise go away, it wouldn't. I wrote to customer service, but got replys without answers or solutions. It's clearly a defective product from shoddy construction. This stuff happens, but just admit it guys! Not cool. Now I find myself with an unusable amp and a not very positive attitude towards the company.
Do some research and you will see this is a common problem with these amps! Do not buy the product until it has been fixed!!!!
I saw a channel by the name of Kevin Potts, check the video that was posted on December 31st. He said he had to remove the power supply if I’m not wrong
my other guitar player has one and once it's mic'd its a beast that you can use as band amp with no problem...its awesome...can't wait to get one

Hey, Nice precise playing :-) Do you read music as well? I pre- ordered the spark amp awhile back. but if I'm correct they are developing an app for android users as I mostly wanted the accompany feature.
Just got my Spsrk in yesterday and so far so good. Did basic run through. Was up half the night. Can't wait to div into the app.
How do you change effects while a backing track is playing and you are jamming? For example the Fractal Audio units have scenes with effects for each of the footswitches but how do you get this effect on the Spark Positive Grid? For example if I play U2 with lots of effects how would I switch between them while simultaneously using a backing track live?

Remember how the original Pod way back in the late 90's pretty much did the same thing when teamed with it's excellent editor/librarian software and also the online portal to user-made tones. Just lacked power amp and speakers and some of the extra apps this has. And you would assume 20 + years of tweaking digital algorithms to create the sounds has improved, although recently their have been a spate of original Pod comparison vids and it still holds up decently particuarly in recordings.
What sounds, amps, effects actually come with the amp without spending more money
Does it have a looper function? Especially for the song creator where you strummed chords and it came up with a beat and bass.

This thing is fucking loud dude im sure u could play in a bandwith it. Any louder and the player would go deaf.

You convinced me to get one. I use an Amplifi 75 mostly for practice and the 2013 iteration of bluetooth sucks so it's near impossible to tweak anything without a headache. This should be a good upgrade with even more features.
Brian interesting. I have an AMPLIFi 150 and have no problems with an IPhone 6S or iPad Air 2. I’ll be getting one if these for the living room, for practice,............if it’s ever released.
@@Tmidiman Mine is a pretty early model and at the time there were a ton of bluetooth complaints. I've even had the motherboard fail and I bought one and replaced it and still flakey.

You can physically turn the amp's knobs and the software will display the changes you make. But, do the amp's knobs physically move if you make changes in the app?
Also, the preset knob (the first one), aren't those first two selections just emulators of Bass and Acoustic guitars, not just recommended settings for when you plug in an Acoustic or Bass, but for when you plug in any instrument? I mean, I'm pretty sure neither my acoustic or Fishman sound-hole pickup has a chip in it to tell the amp what they are, considering those were manufactured over 30 and 10 years ago respectively. I'm pretty sure it modifies the sound of anything that sends a signal to it. Example: I think I could patch in a mic to modify a singer's vocal tracks.
Oooohhh, Question... if I did plug in a mic, does it have an emulator for a Healy Talk-Box so I can perform The Crüe's - Kickstart, or Frampton's - Do you feel? I'm really tired of the smell when cleaning out the tube and spit-valve on my classic unit if I forgot to brush my teeth before my last practice session. 😳
Having viewed all the various demos I could find on this, I don't THINK the knobs move in response to the app. Just vice-versa, as you noted.

короче. из коробки звук гавно, сразу говорю. нужно сделать обновление прошивки и обязательно в цепь добавить эквалайзер в конец, это резко изменит ситуацию и кроме самого лютого гейна везде вставляйте компрессор. будет все хорошо. я нарулил клин, плотный лид маршаловский, плекси 1 в 1 асдс, и злую на базе ректы - металлика и рамштайн норм, ауенно.
из минусов брал на хайпе по 40, сейчас по 26 реально в россии найти( обидно
я не знаю что можно вообще лучше купить для каких то миниконцертов на пьянках кухонных и для расслабухи в минус. для практики держу ламповые преампы, вме же цифра есть цифра, это для удобства, а не для скила. лучшее вообще что для гитары покупал, жаль нет питания от power bank
кто даже пробует сравнить с ямахой thr… вы либо индорсеры ямахи, либо глухие) либо ориентация под сомнением) эта штука нагибает ямаху как рыжую шлюшку на сеновале.
This is only amp that tweeked my interest from my katana air
thr and vox too limited.
Just a couple of things missing thst means i wouldnt bother
1. cant change sound chain to get any sound i want.
2 no in depth eq like parametric to fine tune.
3. only 1 effect pedal at time along with a drive.
4. Not wireless which i love on my air
But close to msking me get one to side by side agsinst my air as i did eith thr30 and vox which i got rid of both.
I would even forgo one less pedal slot on this if it had a parametric eq that like the air could be moved sbout to fine tune sound and be able to alter sound chain and if it was wireless and no using a 3rd party isnt as good as being able to just slot transmitter into sir and its charging.
But what i love about this amp is same as air that any downloaded presets are put on in component form and can be used as a starting point unlike thr30 and vox which are literslly click a sound presets.
So p. Grid add a parametric eq. Add sound chain moving and an in built wireless and i would get one
I got a THR based wholly on a tone I heard a guy on youtube had and he was kind enough to respond that he got it with only using his THR. It was ridiculously awesome. I tried and tried but could not come close. Don't know what kind of magic he had, but I ended up sending it back. So sad

biasfx in and of itself has a looper so you should be able to with the ipad i think

Great video!!! 2 questions. Are all the 10,000 preset tones available with amp purchase or to get all the benifits of virtual band, chord finder, does it require upgrading? Do you need any or all the bias plugins to utilize all presets or will they be grayed out if you do not have the extra plugins?

Hey man unfortunately I don’t know. I uploaded them at the time but I had to give the amp to another UA-camr (Sophie Burrell) - if she still has it they are probably still on that device!
So you can use various pedals with it apart from just wah? Like a Digitech Drop, whammy, pedalboard? Just want to know pedal compatibility before I order
I only tested Wah but don’t see why not if you did a clean Chanel with distortion and things. No effects loop to my memory
The video Post says Get 10,000 tones With Spark . . . . . . yet you spend almost 4 minutes playing (which was excellent, really loved it) but I still don't know how to download the tones from the "tone cloud" which was the whole reason for choosing your video. Excellent skills Karl, but for me, the most important info was the very first thing you said was the info provided.

About the preset of the bias fx i don't think you can, but you can stream music to the amp bia bluetooh and you can control the volume from the amp, it's basically perfect to jam. But however you have more info in the website

Great video but I have to say don't expect delivery for a long long time ordered mine in February they told me it would ship in about a month and I still dont have it.every time I tell them I want my money back they direct me to a page to check status (that hasn't changed since February) a page I already have link to.dont give me the covid crap I order items from all over the world and everything else arrives on time but not positive grid . they shouldn't take people's money until it's ready to ship and they need to be honest about shipping times. if I ever receive my amp I'll never do business with them again because of their dishonesty.if I don't get a tracking number soon ill file a dispute against them with my bank and my money back.positive grid sucks I think their crooks for taking your money with no intention of shipping for months.

How does it handle playing at low volume? Is the quality of the tone consistent even when played very low? I'm trying to decide whether to go for this bad boy or the new Yamaha THR wireless 🤔
Sounds like your playing at full volume. They separated the volume and signal path gain so it sounds the same just lower volume. Because, well, thats what volume is....

Yamaha THR has bluetooth pedalboard control, Positive Grids Jamup has it......the Spark App should have it.....I am starting a campaign to let Positive Grid know it should include it, with it this amp would be a working amp for gigging not just a practice amp........comment and pass it around, lets let Positive Gride know about it!!!

How well does it take real pedals?
You use a tablet also are you obliged to use apple or not....you can use a samsung tablet
It's also android friendly.
The only thing stopping me from buying one is that i live in the UK so if anything goes wrong with it i would need to ship it all the way back to the States which would be incredibly time consuming and expensive. As it stands it's already $270 so to factor in possible import duties would make this even more expensive. Think I'll just stick with plugging my guitars into my PC and use BiasFX 2.

I ordered one of these Feb 20, 2020....Still waiting. They were quick to take my money, and have be delivering to people at different rates. Usually it's 6 months, but occasionally you'll hear of someone getting it in 3. Horrible customer service.
Before buying their products you need to know their is no phone contact with this company. All contact is by email only which sucks. If you need help right away.
I purchased their bias fx last christmas and had issues with the program. Emailed them a few times and never got response from them. Buy at your own risk!
Why would it not take wah pedals well? All it is, is a tone control. Question is, will it take overdrives/boosts well? Is there no expression pedal capabilities of the Spark?
Question ??? I've got some new JBL 305P (5") Monitors , a "Sure SM57 microphone . The Positive Grid works as a "interface" , but doesn't have a microphone input . What do I need to do/get , to set up my Positive Grid (SPARK) , so I can mic it & play through my monitors ??? I've also got a Boss Katana MKII 100w 1×12 Amp (FYI) ??? Do I need a separate interface like a Scarlett Solo as well ??? Would love some advice/solutions !!! 🎸🎼🤘pre-ordered today . fyi !!!

Yeah no problem mate! I just think that something like this new bias/amp/app can be so frustrating in that if you forget one little thing, in the list of things you need to do in order to get up and running (eg.…I had everything A-ok but couldn’t get sound from the app....turns out it was the small volume knob which I had overlooked, was still on 0 setting) then it becomes frustrating, and you what people are like, they put a face to it etc etc. It’s handy to have someone to go through the same thing though so as to solve it together, definitely a plus. Being stuck here (Cheltenham) we’re back on lockdown so it’s the perfect time for spark! Keep safe buddy...Rob.

Yeah man! It’s an interface as well so it has an output. If I remember it is 1/4 inch though
have a friend who picked one up...having issues with it...software is unstable...he's returning it

There seem to be no unbiased reviews of this product. EVERY "review" "demo" "unboxing" "first look" etc. are ALL sponsored. Anyone else tired of UA-camrs intentionally misleading their audiences by pretending to give an unbiased review while doing nothing more than hiding some #sponsored text deep in the description? (and some don't even do that) I could care less if they want to do a sponsored video to make money if they admit it's an ad and NOT an unbiased review. But it's funny how every product they review is so amazing, has no flaws....and yet they never use the product again once the sponsorship video is over.
Hey John I think that’s a little unfair to post that on my video. All my videos clearly state when they are sponsored with that tab at the bottom right on the video itself that is clear as day. I agree though a lot of other UA-camrs do not do this and it is misleading. I genuinely have never reviewed a product I didn’t like. I think the spark is awesome and I am waiting for my own to arrive for myself to use for practise
*sorry bottom left ‘includes paid promotion’ and I use all my products after I review them as I keep all of them ironically apart from this one as this was a demo amp. I am waiting for mine to be shipped like everyone else....which is annoying tbh haha....there you go some negativity if that’s what’s you wanted?!
@@Karlgolden I give you some credit for including the word "sponsored" in the description. Just because that's even more than most UA-camrs do. But you ALL say "review" (or something similar) in the title, as opposed to sponsorship. You do understand a paid advertisement is not the same thing as a review, right? Like you said, you only "review" products you like (just like every other UA-camr), there are ZERO legitimate, unbiased reviews on here. If you search for a product you're interested in, you will ONLY find positive videos. It would be like if the only people who reviewed products on Amazon were paid by the company selling the products.
John Anthony lol John did you watch my video? Big writing bottom left saying sponsored video VERY clearly and I haven’t got many sponsored videos. Go be angry on another channel because if you actually checked out my Channel you won’t see many sponsored reviews and CLEARLY this product is awesome so I have no idea what side of the bed you woke up on today but do not understand your rant on my channel. Very unfair. I understand on other channels as I feel the same so feel free to rant I them I get it. Once again I only review things I like and that’s probably why it’s all positive as I like it!
John, I cancelled my order. But PG refuse to refund. If I do get the amp, I will do a very, impartial review on one of my channels. The fact that my PG guitar amp mini had to be replaced several times and that PG refuse to refund for the Spark and that the company is run by a bunch of dicks will not influence my review whatsoever. My review will be completely impartial. Completely impartial!
Hi Karl. I finally have a spark amp and have only been able to find your Green Day Tone using the Spark Amp App (Tone Cloud). The others do not appear to be on it. I have searched using your name as well as the artists name. Do you know if they are still on it, or can you re-upload? They sound mega and cant wait to try them. Thanks!

How can I search for your tones in the tone cloud? Is that possible or do you have to scroll through 1000's
