Thanks for reacting to this one so quickly! Love to see people's reactions to Hanumankind. He's one of my all time favorites now, and this is one of my favorite songs. As for the inspiration of this song, India had a similar deal with the police as the US had in 2020 with George Floyd, but it was with Jayaraj and his son that were killed in custody after violating curfew by 15 minutes. Most of the shit he's talking about people is specifically about the police in India. Khaki uniforms, baton toting, civilian beating, etc. There's a lot of common struggles between people that are on opposite sides of the world. As much as it sucks we're still having these struggles as a civilization, I love how music brings people together to share in those struggles and empathize with one another. Music is the best way to build bridges with other cultures and people. I'd love to see your reaction to Genghis, Options, and Bottle of MH whenever you get the chance. Those are my other favorites in terms of lyrics and subject that you haven't reacted to yet.
Hanumankind is from the South of India (Kerala), and his native language is Malayalam. North India is very different culturally from the South. They don't even speak the same language, unlike the United States, where almost everyone speaks in English. The head of the India State (the Prime Minister) is from the North, culturally and linguistically (he speaks Hindi). When they have to communicate to those in the South, it's most done in English. Nothing for a political debate, i'm just sharing how different India is compared to the USA.
Jayaraj and his son were victims of police brutality. They beat up Jayaraj who was a sickly man and his son with sticks to death in police custody . Khaki is the colour of the police uniforms here in India.
He doesn't reside in Texas anymore. He used to live in USA close to 10 yrs ago. He dropped outta Houston community College and did his college in coimbatore and moved to Bengaluru for work and has been staying in Bangalore, Karanataka ever since then. Though he has his rest of the Family in Kerala, where his family and ethnicity belongs to. Jayraj and his son were illegally detained over let to die in the cell. Read about it here. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Custodial_death_of_P_Jayaraj_and_Bennicks
SVDP is a Tamil Canadian who's originally from Jaffna (if Made in Jaffna, the song you suggested, didn't make it obvious). He has never been a citizen of India.
