On Ultra Violence as the Arch-viles run up the Spider Masterminds, they get hit by their own blasts doing more damage to themselves than the Spider Masterminds. There the Spider Masterminds probably mostly win by just outlasting them as they do still get stunned as much as usual.
I'm so glad brutal doom made the spider mastermind actually effectual. When we see fights like this you realise just how much the guy must've been relying on his minions.
The very first battle was a bit unfair since 10 Flame Bois are (almost) like 2 Spiderdemons (in terms of health points) With that being said it is so incredible that JUST by removing two archies Spider Momma was able to win! I got so happy for her victory that I even clapped!
I was going to say that I’m sorry but don’t feel like he tries to balance out the battles sometimes I knew The Spidermastermind was doomed from the get go

A match actually favorable for the Mastermind this time around? Though not surprising as the Mastermind's immunity to splash damage greatly cripples the Archvile's explosive attack damage unless it has sufficient numbers to make up for the disadvantage.
It's amazing how easily the archviles stunlock the spider, considering the significant windup to their attack reduces the frequency a pain state can proc. Reducing their numbers really saved the spider mastermind from being constantly interrupted.
Everything is to the SMM's advantage here. The AVs hit hard, but infrequently, so the SMM's high pain chance doesn't trigger so much. The SMM is immune to the blast component of the AV's attack. The relatively large size of the AV increases the damage from the SMM's shotgun spread. The AV attack being auto-target means the SMM's large size isn't a disadvantage. Even at long range the SMM's auto shotgun can hit a few AVs. The auto shotgun has a greater chance of triggering the AV's pain state, disrupting the attack. It's a great turnaround to see the worst mob doing recently against one of the best
Arch-viles are, surprisingly, the least ideal combatants against the SMM. No explosive damage from their zaps and, even though they're aggressive, a very long firing sequence. The SMM's biggest hindrance is its pain chance, so I see this actually going pretty well for her.

Archvile attack consist of a direct hit of 20 dmg plus splash damage of 0-70. The SMM and cyberdemon have boss flag which gives them immunity to splash, so only direct hit inflicts the damage.
I wasn't sure whether it was gonna do well with constant archvile hits but it did better than expected. The first round was the oddest, after the 1vs8. Even at closest range the spider still misses bullets, so it takes longer for to archviles to die. Not too bad I guess

When have 2 Spider masterminds, although killing each other had been shutdown, but they can still hit by friendly fire. Arch-viles' favorite casting range, are very good for maximized dps for Spider Mastermind. At least, 1 show had involved with Spider Mastermind is NOT a comedy.

Well the game came out in 1993 so the devs couldn't have possibly known things like WASD movement. SMM was probably very difficult when the game first came out.
It's not weird because in NM, the combatants are likely to fight at long range where the SMM is at its weakest due to its accuracy falling off greatly while the AV attacks are still 100% accurate. Adding more SMMs compensates for the drop in accuracy because with more SMMs attacking, it's more likely that their attacks will hit the AVs.
