Thank you sooo much! I started crocheting two weeks ago. Following your tutorial made me feel like Im a professional! I have had so much trouble with the magic circle, I was about to give up, but thanks to you, I got it!!!
This was the best tutorial and pattern I have seen on YT. I used super bulky 6 weight yarn (two skeins of 81 yds each) with an 8 mm hook and it was perfect. I finished it in hours❤
I am 12 minutes into this video and have learned so much. You are by far the best teacher of this particular stitch. Thank you for explaining everything as you go. Shine on black girl!
Ok, I JUST made this hat. I've only been crocheting for 33 days. I used Loops and Threads, Medium, 100% acrylic yarn. 4.5 oz or 127.5 grams. This yarn is much thinner and smaller than the yarn used in the tutorial. I still like the result! Personally, I would not have been able to double crochet as a complete beginner. I made squares using single crochet, then learned half double crochet and made a scarf, and now (making this hat) learned double crochet. I had one extra stitch than she had, it had no noticeable effect on the outcome of the hat. Overall, LOVED the tutorial. I made this in about 5 - 6 hours total across two days. I as someone who was an absolute beginner like 2 weeks ago. I still found the magic ring (or her version) to be the hardest part of this whole thing. Thank you for making this tutorial!
Thank you so much, you have really taught me a lot. I love how you rxpla8n everything and then make sure we understand. You are amazing thanks again beautiful!!❤❤🌹🌹🌹
Where the ruffles just too small? If so, then yeah you need a bigger weight. But if the shape of the ruffles wasn't quite right, you need to trust the process. With all my ruffle hats it comes together after that 3rd row.

I'm going to try again mines came out too loose i did use smaller yarn becausei dont want a thick hat..it wasn't fitted but i think i know where i messed up..😢
Did you follow measurements I put in the video ? Did you use thick yarn? Did you try it on as you went to make sure 40 stitches fit around your head? Did you use a loose or tight tension? Check my pinned comment. If it doesn’t fit your head you probably need to do a bigger base with maybe 50 stitches. Look up how to make a normal beanie and find what fits your head. I think your tension is too tight or your yarn is too small because 40 stitches in bulky yarn is really big lol
You probably just need a bigger base. My head is big so I already knew 40 stitches would be too small so I did my usual 60 stitches. And you continuing to crochet with a little base is not gonna make it get any wider bcuz you’re not increasing any you’re just continuing the project.
New subscriber! Question? I haven’t crocheted in over 20 years and starting over now since watching your channel. Great tutorial, very easy to follow. I already made a Cat Beanie. It’s so cue for my first time. Still need to prefect some things for the next ones. ?? When I do the slip knot at the beginning and add my 10 DC in the circle, then try to thighed it, the tail doesn’t pull it makes it into a knot. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? 😊
Sometimes you just have to find the right angle to pull it at but sometimes I’ve noticed if I don’t do the magic circle correctly it does that so maybe try it over again
Thank you soo much for this tutorial. Do we always have to do an outline row?a If not, do we just use the regular yarn we used for the hat for the outline row? Thank you!!!!!
Yes it’s necessary to start a new row at a new height. And it does not count as a double crochet that why we still crochet in the same stitch after we do the chain 2 since it is negligible
It’s the increases the makes the ruffles. Jumbo Ruffles can also be achieved with smaller yarn sizes, it all just depends on how you do the increases :)
Hmmm 🤔 idk tbh I’ve never had this problem even with people who’ve bought the paid pattern, I think you may be using a really tight tension and your base is really small. Try to match the measurements with the one in the video! But the yarn is chunky so it should be big. Idk maybe the 12 will be better for you.
@@biblestoriesinaminute for row 5 I would do dc,dc,dc , dc inc ( so 3 normal double crochet and then an increase double crochet) (50 stitches) And for row 6 I would make a dc, dc, dc, dc, dc inc (4 normal double crochets and then a double crochet increase )(60 stitches)
How many bundles of yarn is needed for this? I found the same yarn at my local store but would I need just 1 for 1 hat? Do you know how many bundles per hat ? Or if 2 yarn bundles can make 1 hat for example?
@@biblestoriesinaminute make sure your tension is loose. Tight tension will make tighter and smaller ruffles. My ruffles are always so big that they almost cover my eyes. I’d say add more rows by just crocheting in each stitch again
Hello, I have a question. I'm already doing row 12 and I'm confused about the 321123 pattern. At the end of the row I have to do 321 and I don't know what to do to get 321123 at the end of the row. Also I had to do 3 more rows of increases so maybe thats the reason but I Don't want to frog it all the way down, help. :c
You don’t have to complete the row exactly like 321123. You just have to follow the pattern , so you don’t necessarily have to end on the exact number :)
This will absolutely NOT work with weight 4! Part of the ruffles being so big is using think weight 5 yarn and doing double crochets. If you use weight 4, then you will need to make a bigger base that’s bigger than 40 stitches and will probably need to add more ruffles to make them bigger
I used weight 4 red heart yarn and it worked fine. Ruffles look just like hers just smaller because ya know smaller yarn. Idk 🤷🏾♀️ if this is still helpful tho. Maybe because I'm autistic I'm not really understanding what she means by it won't work, cause I got the shape of the ruffles just fine. I wanted the shape of the ruffles she had, not necessarily the size. All my ruffle hats using my own pattern are in weight 4 yarn and the ruffles are HUGE over just three rows, just add more increases. I recommend dc 3 in one sts the whole row for three rows and you'll get big ruffles, but the shape won't look so wavy like hers. It'll look more like a bunched up flower and super pretty.
Do an extra row of one dc in each stitch for longer ruffles but if you’re using thick yarn they should sit forward a lot. If I did an extra row it would probably cover my eyes too much. Make sure your tension is loose.
i have maybe a dumb question . why didn’t you add the darker green yarn in like you did with the lighter green , when you were running out of the darker green ?
@@QueenMarshae no it’s not a dumb question lol! When I only wanted the outline of the hat to be light green as an accent color. If I would’ve added it earlier, the ruffles themselves would have been light green and not just the outline. I wanted the entire hat to be dark green with the light outline. I hope I’m answering your question right :)
@@jonvxco no . im sorry 😭 i worded wrong , why didn’t you stitch them the same way ? when you were adding the darker green, i think you tied it when you were running out and when you added the lighter green you weaved it in . im asking why didn’t you weave in the darker green like you did the lighter green ?

If we want to make the ruffles longer do we use the same pattern?
@@QueenMarshae tbh idk. I didn’t even catch that I did it differently lol. Maybe I just wanted to show different ways, I’ll go with that 😭
@@jonvxco that works for me 😭💕 thanks!
I want to use 8ply weight yarn can it work out
@@mmesomamalize1734 I don’t think the ply matters as long as it’s a bulky weight yarn like 5 or 6
@@jonvxco alright tnk u
Can I use acrylic yarn?
I’m also using acrylic yarn so yes
I tried to make this but I crochet tight lol. I'm not done but it just sat stiff on my head 🤣🤣🤣 I'll try again 😊❤
Do not crochet tight, that’s one of the biggest problems that I mentioned in this video lol
I wanted to add another row to my ruffle mine cause my yarn makes is smaller❤
Please reply
Sure add another row if you’d like to make the ruffles longer :)
Thank you so much, such a great tutorial 🩷
Thanks for using this tutorial👍🏾
Do u know how to make the ruffles smaller?
I’d say do less increases! But I never try to make them small! Many other tutorials have smaller ruffles though
@@jonvxcothank u it’s js that the other tuts don’t really have ruffles that actually look as good as urs😭
How many skeins of yarn do I need for this? It doesn’t say in the video
