As a lifelong Marylander, you did a fine job. Indeed, steamed is the only way to go for Blue Crabs! Just be careful when you get some cuts on your hand and get that seasoning on it. WoooWeeee!

I've always cooked crabs just like that but I've seen a few guys pull the shell off, cut of the face and lungs. They say more seasoning gets to the meat. It makes since to me. I'm going to try it.

I'm from South Carolina and my grandma use to always made the hog head cheese and I love it and miss it haven't had any in a long time . And I love it ... Wish I could get some but can't find it anywhere . You made my mouth water. Wish you weren't so far from me I could pay you to get me some ...

Im from Maryland. Live on the eastern shore, Dorchester county. I love my steam crabs 🦀. We use a spice called J-O. And my favorite way to eat crab is to dip the meat in melted butter and into some more seasoning, lol. I like mine spicy!! Also we dip the meat in vinegar as well! It's so yummy! 😋
    Love the videos! 👍👍

Head cheese has a lot of different names. I have always called it souse and yes I do like it a lot. Lots of great memories of my Grandmother making it when we killed hogs.

The Pennsylvania Dutch refer to hogs head cheese as souse. When you find a good butcher shop that has a good recipe it's hard to beat as a good snack!

If you want to try something different, try doing crabs on a smoker/pit. Just throw them on upside down to cook. The natural juices steam/cook the meat. It’s actually pretty good….. I don’t even season them

Do you not make it a point to make sure the traps sit with the bait door facing down? Seems from what I’ve seen doing it that it definitely helps catch when they sit on bottom right

Jared you got me heading out the door on a Hoghead Cheese mission. It’s a shame Mr Tritler shut down his meat market in Picayunne. He had some of the best on the Northshore. Nothing like Hot head cheese, fresh Bunny Bread, some Blue Plate Mayo then sprinkle some graded sharp cheddar. Close that sandwich and be sure not to bight your own fingers. 😂!!! Don’t forget a frosty mug filled w/ Barq’s Rootbeer. Lunch of Champions, ain’t bad on the boat while chasing Hopedale Specks !!! Bon appétit Bro 15:53

@@OutsidetheLevees Ok, I was wondering because the bayou is usually across the highway from the houses down the road in lower St. Bernard Parish once you get past Toca/St. Bernard. I was thinking maybe that could have been the Fort Beauregard neighborhood in Shell Beach but the houses look different so I was lost lol
