The Nissan Maxima has long been heralded as Nissan’s 4-door sports car, or, 4DSC. The Maxima was first introduced as the direct replacement for the Datsun 810, and was known as the Datsun Maxima. With the phasing out of the Datsun brand in 1985, the car was renamed the Nissan Maxima. Currently in its 8th, and last generation, at least for the the US and Canadian market, our video is going to highlight the 6th generation A34 series that was built from 2003 to 2008 for the 2004 to 2008 model years. The sixth generation Maxima was marketed solely in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It was developed from 1998 to 2002, with a March 2001 design freeze. Official introduction was at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. Sixth generation Maximas were available in two trim levels, SE and SL. The sporty SE model came standard with 18 inch alloy wheels, P245/45R18 V-rated tires, stiffer suspension, rear spoiler, and an optional 6-speed manual transmission. The luxurious SL model came standard with 17 inch alloy wheels, P225/55R17 H-rated tires, wood interior trim, 6-disc CD changer, Bose stereo, leather seats, and HID headlights and optional heated front seats. The manual transmission was never offered in the SL model and the suspension is tuned for a softer ride.
Our car, a 2006 SL, was built in February of 2006 at the Nissan Smyrna Assembly Plant in Smyrna, TN, the first time the Maxima was produced outside of Japan.
