Oatly milk is taking over. In a very big way. In the past few years, I've noticed a drastic change in coffee shops. Baristas now ask if I want to add Oatly milk instead of normal milk.
At first, I didn't think much of it. But then I read an article about how Oatly milk was having serious storages and folks were buying the product for 4x the price. That's when I decided I had to do an investigative report on how Oatly Milk became so popular.
Oatly, a Sweden based company has been around for 20 years. CEO, Toni Petersson was brought in and he changed the brand in radical ways. And that's what this video focuses on:
1. How oatly milk became a powerhouse
2. How oatly milk impacts our environment
3. How oatly milk differs from other alternative milks
4. How oatly milk changed my perspective on milks in general
Watch to find out. Enjoy

Who else doesn't like cow milk?
Also remember to keep chasing that curiosity :)
I hate cow milk but I love all the milkshakes, ice-cream, whipped cream, butter and cheese.. I'm quite confused lol
I know right same here! Haha
I’ve actually never tried oat milk, after watching this I kind of want to! I enjoy trying new things
I hate cow milk and I drink almond soy or oat milk.
@@omomohoho samee.. I love cheese too :(
Very nicely made video, appreciate your efforts
The animations in this video are really good man! Great job with the video overall and hope it continues to grow the channel.
thanks my dude! slow and steady :)
same it just taste good
Oatly isn't the only oatmilk in the world. Homemade is simple to make and easily a tenth of the cost. And, if you want it to froth, you can throw in a few cashews.
you should try the barista version.
Truth About Oats and Oat Milk:
Oats in general increase blood sugar and insulin levels as the amylase in your mouth starts converting the oats immediately into sugar.
High levels of glucose and insulin makes you store more fat on your body but also in the liver and pancreas.
Oatmeal, while nutritionally poor, does have some vitamins and minerals, but most of those are made useless by a protein called Avenin, so you won’t be able to absorb or use them.
Avenin is also a gluten-like protein, so it leads to increased inflammation in your gut. Flares up IBS, Crohn's Disease, etc.
Can also manifest in joint pain, skin issues like eczema.
Oats are full of plant fiber, so you have larger and more frequent bowl movements. Oats have low-satiety as well.
Oat “Milk” uses an industrial seed oil called rapeseed oil (canola), which until the 1970’s was used as a lubricant for machinery-it couldn’t even be fed to livestock. Then they removed 98% of the toxic erucic acid content, which made it edible, but not healthy lol. Canola oil is still a highly processed, toxic oil from the seed of the plant. The seeds of plants have the most plant defense chemicals, as they need to be defended against being eaten in order to survive, and are thus usually the most toxic part of plants. This is not food for humans.
Provides exactly zero nutrition. Remember that "fortified" is a fancy term for "we pour a lot of synthetic shit into your nutritionless food."
Environmental Impacts:
By buying oatmilk you are supporting subsidized monoculture that degrades our soil, you know, where your food comes from. The reason that more than 50% of the topsoil in the US has been eroded is directly due to these agricultural practices that produce large amounts of wheat, oats, soybeans, corn, etc. Therefore, farmers have to use more fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and other nonsense to keep growing your oatmilk. Learn about farming through documentaries like The Biggest Little Farm, places like Polyface Farms, and from people like Gabe Brown. Furthermore, having vast swaths of land dedicated to growing canola and oats, you displace entire ecosystems and kill the thousands of animals that can nibble at your crops. Contrary to the average basic-LA-influencer-model's beliefs, cow poop actually creates healthy soil.
Thank you for your comment, it is very sad to see how easy we humans follow trends without looking at environmental impacts. I started drinking Oatly because I like the flavor, but after doing research I came across the what you just described, mono culture, soil degradation due to poor agricultural practices to keep up with demand, plus the use of rapeseed oil in their ingredients. I am rethinking Oatly, I will keep looking for another alternative as my main concerns are health, mine and the health of our environment.
I drink oat milk, no Oatley though. Real mill is more nutritious and will be switching back. Lactaid for lactose intolerance.
Really good thoughtful and informative video. We've been so conditioned to think that drinking milk is normal that it takes a lot to really sit down and question all of that. Great videos, keep it up!
glad you liked the video! :)
Well, you could probably say that about anything we eat.
@@supermilkguy fruit from a tree or bush? Vegetables from the ground? Not nearly as weird as lactations from a cow hahah
Just don't drink any milk. Not necessary.
I learned to drink my iced coffee black with Stevia. All these milks are filled with fillers unless you make your own.
Good advice
Cool editing. Nice background music. And a cool hairdo. Not sure about Oatly but I have hair envy for sure.
Hey I’ll take it! Thanks for watching the video.. and my hair 😂
Woah. You are good. I watched the whole thing because you hold it so well!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it :)
I’m trying a vegan diet because it’s more environmentally friendly so I switched to Soy Milk. I like it a lot but I never heard of Oat Milk, you’ve convinced me to give it a shot now! If you think about it drinking milk from another animal is a pretty weird thing us humans do 😆
Let me know how soy milk goes for you! I never liked it haha
@Mallika Malliga thank you! I tried haha
Drinking cow’s milk is simply unethical. I’m not Vegan, but the consumption of cow’s milk is simply not right. It’s exactly that…. Weird.
Milk is milk but only is good ..even the choclate one is soo tasty ... wish it was cheaper tho
I really really like cow whole milk but it's been hurting my stomach so bad recently so fingers crossed oat milk is kinda similar
I used to get such bad stomach issues from cow milk. It made the switch to plants so easy.
Excellent job! Loved all of your information. Bonus is that you are gorgeous to look at and so well spoken. Phenomenal delivery!
Glad you liked my video!
Buy Oatly stock now!!!
I’m only 2 minutes in but I am already blown away by your animations and the engaging flow of your video!! Can’t wait for more content from you! Sincerely a new subscriber :) ✨
P.S I love Oatly too! 😅
Hey! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! More to come :)
It’s not bacon if it’s not pork and it’s not milk if it’s not cow so a name change is needed. I don’t like names like cauliflower rice because it’s not rice
I've just started drinking this oat milk before this video came out and of course it is pretty tasty!
Very tasty indeed!
Ran to your video on the fly, and I just want to say thank you !
Really good video on a very interesting topic packed in a high quality video. Keep up the effort
Thanks! Glad you noticed :)
I gave up dairy in my late 20's as it is clear to me that stealing calves from their mothers so we humans can steal their milk, is a total injustice. Later, I became vegan, and have been for 9 years now. I just turned 49 and I'm fitter and healthier than when I was in my 20's!
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Anyone else devastated after hearing about the hidden hydrogenated oils in Oatley… It’s literally my favorite milk-I’m devastated. I’m going to have to make oat milk from scratch now 😭
I keep saying this is going to be my last carton. I also have an auto immune disease and I’m cutting out hydrogenated oils. Getting everything in order for 2021.
P.S. The reason why Oatley is so smooth and there’s no separation is because of those hydrogenated oil.
Wanted to share incase incase there are others like me with health : gut health as their top priority. Something to look into. 😊
:(((( I've just found oatly and been enjoying it. Now I'm sad :(((
I was about to go to the store to pick up my first cartoon but I have UC so now I'll hold off due to the oils. Thanks so much
Just so you know, low fat Oatly doesn't have oil in it!
Veeery very good man! Hope you're well brother!
Thanks! And glad you liked the video :)
I love cow milk but after 2 cups my stommach feels bad and my dad drinks oatly since hes lactose intolerant so now i’ve started drinking this too and i love it.
I get the same feeling! :)
Great video! I invested in Oatly. I’ve been Vegan for almost a year now. I never like cows milk either. I think the main reason is because I’m not a baby cow
On the smell issue, you should just close your cow milk lid, also lasts longer. On the oat milk. It's not a bad drink, it's OK, I use it myself as the milk industry is horrible and I couldn't justify drinking milk anymore. But Oatly is not a milk replacement at all. Maybe it looks a little milkish, maybe. But it tastes nothing like milk, not even a little bit. It tastes like weak porridge. The flavour is strong which means it can not be used in the same way milk can be. It's an interesting product. But it's not a milk replacement.
Oatly is a bit sweet because they add sugar. I either drink cow milk or unsweetened chocolate almond milk.
*First of all, congrats on 10k brother! and second of all, awesome editing, and third all, I drink cow milk and I don't really mind it, to be honest :D*
Thanks man! Glad you liked the video! :)
I just found this and I don’t know why I’m so addicted
I know! Oatly is amazing!
Curiosity Culture lmao
This video was so well made
I haven’t jumped on the Oat milk much yet. I like it in my coffee a lot, but I don’t like it in smoothies or oatmeal. Still prefer almond milk for that. But I’m on the same boat as you regarding cows milk. Really don’t consume it anymore. Amazing video man!
I’ve tried Oatly milk in coffee, I don’t like it surprisingly 🤯. Also thanks for watching :)
Awesome b roll brother. Oat milk is taaaasty
Enjoy your drinking haha
See you in the next one
Thanks for watching! :)
Another trend until they discover it's a slow poison.
Just Stumbled upon this video. Great Video, very well said. I first tried Oatly a few years ago at a boba shop in the bay area after which I was immediately converted. Having been vegan my entire life with additional dietary restrictions, there were never many great plant-milks on the market. However, not only could I drink Oatly with no issues, it tasted amazing and was good for the environment too. Despite not really having a sweet tooth, i became obsessed with the Chocolate Oatly and was also looking forward to them releasing their other products which already existed in Europe. Obviously the dairy industry isnt happy, and there are tons of naysayers making up nonsense about how its bad for you. But the vast majority of the planet is severely lactose intolerant and is needlessly suffering while also causing animals and the planet to suffer. The dairy industry is, in many ways, even more cruel than the meat industry as cows don't just produce milk because they are cows, they produce milk because they are mothers who have their babies stolen from them repeatedly. Male calves are generally killed early, female calves suffer the same fate as their mothers: repeated artificial insemination until milk production declines when which they too are slaughtered. Ultimately, the rise of Oatly is very good news.
I never realized you could get boba with oatly milk! And thank you for such a well thought out comment. I agree with you.
PS... I love the chocolate oatly too haha
Good for you. Much healthier. At the age of 13 or 14 I suddenly lost the taste for milk. It was like drinking water to me. No taste. Havent drunk it since. I drink mostly almond a little soy. I definitely have to try the oat milk. I hadn't heard of it. Thanks.👍
Trust me! Oatly will change your life haha. Oatly chocolate milk is so good!
I think it killed your taste buds LoL
@@R_Hello May be true. Lol. Im now drinking oat milk and like it. I also continue to drink almond milk.
Great video! You need more viewers 👍👍 keep up the great work
amen to that statement! I'll get the viewers soon :)
amazing video production man
Thank you so much :)
Great video. Right now, I'm drinking Planet Oat oat milk. There's no Oatly Milk where I shop. I never used to be lactose intolerant until the early '00s. If I'm not mistaken, I never saw or heard of oat milk then. I also love the chocolate flavored oat milk and helps me to lose weight.
Wow this is such a good video! Informative but still entertaining and upbeat! 🙂
I'm so glad you liked it video :)!
really agree with the gut aspect! i feel a lot better with oatly than with cows milk
yeah! I mean any alternative milk helps me with my gut. But oatly just taste better
While I do drink non-dairy milk, but not Oatly. It was really interesting to hear why they are so popular and the psychology behind the consumer. Great video!
Why not Oatly!? And thanks!
@@CuriosityCulture i live in Canada and they haven't released Oatly here, yet. 😅
@@riawhy_ hahah I'm sorry :(
Lol ive had a carton of Oatly in my fridge for months (still in its best before date) and ive been frightened to try it straight or in cereal but i'll now give it a go.
Milk milk aka milk aka dairy milk aka cow milk (how redundant does a man have to be) is the only milk out there period. I enjoy the milk smell. If you want an unpleasant “milk” smell. Try smelling fair life milk after 2 days. I love cow. And I love everything that I own that’s from a cow, be it the beef, the leather and of course the milk. And yes the cheese too. Whatever Oatly is, it has to be some kind of fabrication of milk. They do things to it to make it “taste like milk”. Yeah I’ve tried it. And yes I’ve enjoyed it. What would really catch my attention is if it tried to be itself rather than another product.
Wow, wow, no cow
Lmao SuperBowl ad
Vegan is the future
Oatly and Planet Oat extra creamy are my go-to oat milks. 🎉
I like planet oat as well!
great video editing skills... great video.. kudos...
Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
You should get curious about veganism and watch documentaries like dominion and conspiracy and try it out.
Thinked of you....:>
I did not find this helpful
Oatly oat milk is litteraly the best man the chocolate one is so good man im allergic to dairy and nuts and i will never ever drink any other oat milk than oat ly and i mean never
I love the chocolate Oatly! So freaking good
@@CuriosityCulture I know right!
“milk”
:)
@@CuriosityCulture the editing is peak tho
@@vineshpendurthi313 It's only going to get better my friend. And you've been here from the start. :)
Cow milk is filled with hormones and it is no longer a viable option. Oat milk is a great substitute and has many benefits!
Still loving oat milk!
Soy milk for the win, oat I use for coffee
Wouldnt you have more machines to process and harvest the oat milk instead of just pumping the milk from the cows? Now you have big harvesters going out and pestisides and other chemicals involved. So im not with you on the whole better environment bs
Nice video and also nice hairdo (0:55) 💇♂️
haha thanks :)
Search up the biological term for milk.
I knew someone was going to say that. You aren’t wrong ha
I love cow milk but awesome video man, great content
Hey! At least you stayed for the content! 💪🏽
@@CuriosityCulture maybe one day, I'll get off it. I've actually really started to enjoy coconut and hazelnut milk.
You're probably not making these videos for the subs and likes but I don't understand with such great and quality content, it hasn't reached the millions let alone the 100 thousands.
@@CuriosityCulture I'm going to try out milk out though :)
Man u should check Nathaniel Drew's new video. I think it's inspired by Ur channel 😉
Haha I already commented on his video! One day we’ll be friends haha
@@CuriosityCulture really , ok let's see if he make any comments there or not 😁
If you like to support Trump and defostering of Amazon rainforest, Oatly is your choice! Why? Because they have just started to cooperate with an investment company Blackstone that supports Trump and the defostering of the rainforest in Brazil plus according to the UN the company has very bad real estate ethics. Oatly is not my choice anymore! I do my own!
I've just bought a pallet of it. Delicious. Thanks Donald trump
😂😂
Astounding that the word "nutrition" is not mentioned once in the whole video. I guess no one drinking Oatly cares about nutrients, they just want to drink something vaguely milk-like out of habit.
Honestly, this is great feedback my dude. You bring up really good points
I like oat milk, but it has a lot of calories. I typically go for almond or cashew milk instead.
Yeah I agree. Cashew milk is pretty solid!
Who gives a flip about calories in milk? If you want a healthy diet stop eating junk food. For milk, just let yourself indulge in something creamy. Almond and cashew milk tastes absolutely disgusting to me. I have not found a single brand that is remotely close to the taste of Oatly; I even prefer it over Half & Half.
