    Great tutorial. For the map being upside down sometimes I believe this is due to the model in blender not having its transforms cleared. You generally always want to clear transforms on a model once you are completely finished modeling it (also before unwrapping). Clearing Transforms > All will reset the scale, rotation, and transform. With an object selected the hotkey should be ctrl+A and you choose Transforms > All. You should see its scale value all reset to 1.00 in the viewport.

      Also u can use halo 1 default textures, for example, if u name a material grass and put whatever color u want to recognize it, in the compiled scenario it will be the classic halo 1 grass texture, this also works for other materials, like panel scuff, u can see the materials name when u import existing bsp's, in a tutorial of this channels it shows to open existing bsp's

    The first map I made I had no issues being opened in sapien, but for some reason my second map only complies the the .structure_scenario_bsp. There's no .scenario file to open.
    Not sure what I'm doing wrong. There are two differences I could tell from your CMD output. One is that it didn't ask to pick a shader before building the geometry. The second is during the building geometry output there's an extra line between the "building pvs" and "building structure lens flares" lines. The line says:
    indoor maximum (from sky sky\dusk\dusk) is 120.000000 world units
    Any help would be appreciated but regardless these tutorials are incredible, thanks so much!

      Glad it helped you out. I've tried to get max 5 to work for a long time too lol, I was trying to use it to mod Ghost Recon though

      @@oldgamesguy yeh all i could find was a dead thread from 8 years ago where they all PM'd each other the solution :/ I suppose it relies heavily on the operating system,, loved the textures in ghost recon it really made the most of its engine graphics wise

      I think the process and rules are pretty similar for 2, but I haven't tried to do much for 2 when it comes to using blender yet. I know 2 uses different files though. I think one is called a .ASS file lol

    Do you know what definition I can use to generate the already compiled .map in Halo 2?

    How about porting other Halo levels to Halo CE? I've tried my hand at it but things haven't exactly gone so smoothly.

      Loading halo levels from all games into blender should be pretty easy(from what I've seen, all the halo games use ".scenario_structure_bsp" tags for the maps), the only problem would probably be assigning the correct materials to all the faces, since a level you load into blender from halo 2/3 would only have materials that don't exist in halo ce(you would most likely have to go through every face in the map, and use a material that already has a shader in ce; or you could copy the shaders from halo 2/3 over to ce, and see if ce can use those tags). I haven't looked into map making for any game except for ce at this point, but I assume that the rest of the halo games use the same geometry rules that ce does. If they don't, then that could be another problem.

      @@oldgamesguy Plus the geometry is differently made than CE so porting the newer games maps to might be tricky. An example would be Halo 2's Cairo Station having the couldn't update edge error and degenerate triangles.

    hey, its me again, u know why when i open my map on sapien it just shows a black screen on game screen?

      ok the error just says that my camera cant teleport to the starting bsp, but when i move in the map i just dont find the bsp

      The bsp might be far away from the cameras starting position, so you could try to move the camera around for a little bit and see if you find your bsp. And could you type the full error message? That might help me figure out what else might be going on.

      ​@@oldgamesguy Well, the error that came out was something like the camera could not focus on the bsp, but yes, it still shows in black

    Do you need backface culling

      It doesn't matter if it's on or off, it just makes it easy to see if the normals for your faces are calculated to the correct side. And by the way, were you asking how to get the opening cutscene from the maw to play on the main menu? Sorry I haven't done anything with that yet, I've been taking a little break from halo modding.
