The thing is, it was worth it, the Caroleans broke massive armies while outnumbered as much as 5 to 1.

Kings and Generals have a series about the Great Northern War where the caroleans time and time again took on enemy forces of much larger numbers and kept winning.

Yes, if you are at all interested in this subject you should give the Kings & Generals series on the Great Northern War a try. It will showcase both the successes and the limits of the Carolean system. It is also a war that is really important to the development of northern and eastern Europe.

They've used the same female choir since 2005 (first time they had any female voices).
It consists of Joakim's old swim coach (he swum competitions as a teen), Pär's old science teacher ("high school"), old/original drummer Daniel's mom & aunt and one of their choir friends (5 women).
Male choir is either Joakim (he sings differently then, more "relaxed") & various band members or they've also used local guys they are friends with, from a band called Eternal of Sweden.
The "Christmas Truce" is the only exception (according to Joakim), it has a gospel choir from Italy instead of The Sabaton Choir.
The "choir thing" is really big part of their sound and something we can thank Joakim for!
Btw. I think this might be the exception on this album where I actually prefer the englis lyrics.
I mean, we still get the Lords Prayer in swedish!

8:48 Actually in terms of casualties it was worth it considering the other options.

What really fascinates me is the different character of Karl XII, who unlike practically all other kings always lead by example, living with his men, and leading them personally to battles. It must have required an extreme amount of dedication and personal bravery, knowing that you are the wealthiest and most powerful person in the country, yet risking it all and marching with common soldiers to battle.

Yep! I was also banging my fist in the air to this song (in Swedish, of course 😉). It was powerful!! 🇸🇪 But so many songs from the Carolus Rex album was exclusive for the Swedish Tour, which actually ended with that concert almost a week ago. They usually don't have that many songs from older albums.
    Great reaction, btw!🤘

Interestingly…. These tactics are also the exact same ones the British would come to adopt across it’s time.
British formations of the black powder era after learning hard in the 7 years war, began to form not 4 ranks deep but 2 ranks deep formations - a thin red line, but a long one which also maximised the firepower each man could pour into the enemy.
Forming into this for battle, on the offensive like the swedes we would march forward into the muskets and fire of the enemy until like the swedes 50 years away, where both ranks would stop give out one hell of a volley and reload (yup one big change) and then advance further to around 30 yards where they would release a second deadly volley into the enemy and then 2 action might be taken, 1 to fix bayonets and lead in with the steel, or 2 reload, fix bayonets and then drive in with the steel potentially only stopping to fire a volley at point blank before driving in hard after.
The amount of shock and hell this cause in many enemy ranks literally helped Britain win on so many occasions.
And the casualties while heavy sometimes were with it - benefit of also having 2 lines vs 4 actually lead to less casualties from artillery and a heavy increase in firepower as every man in the battalion could deliver such a volley vs 2/4.
So yeah, you would be afraid, but when motivated and with their fellow lads from their area, it actually leads to a heavy increase in morale.

The tactic of the Caroleans were so good the british redcoats used their offensive tactic in their standard army disipline. Fun fact too that the fatalistic christian belief of the Carolean army was basically same idea about faith the Vikings used to have. Norsemen believed that the "witches" at the foot of Yggdrasil wove every mans lifethreads in bloody tapestries and if the witches decided to cut the thread you would die. The common scare among norsemen was "Do not tempt faith" The norns will cut your lifethread :). So every death was pretty much predetermined unless you tempted faith. Therefore all the vikings needed to do was die with a weapon in hand to reach Valhalla otherwise you would reach Freyas Folkvang. Cheers from Sweden.
