Sounds healthy. It is good to see someone that knows how to ride a 2-stroke! Keep the revs high!

The sight, sound, and smell of a classic 2-stroke bike is the essence of purist motorcyling!

That's the way I rode mine. Pull the front wheel up in first. Keep the revs above 4,000. First bike was a 350 triple at 16 years old. Thank God it wasn't the 500 or 750! I'd probably be dead.Good memories. I was stopped at a gas station 20 plus years after I sold mine. I heard one coming down the road and knew EXACTLY what it was!

You had to own and ride one to truly appreciate these old motorcycles. Honestly the sound of this video almost brought a tear to my eye. Just and old guy who spent his youth riding a red S2triple 2stroke.

This actually makes me feel a lot better about how my S3 400 runs. My bike pulls pretty good at 2500, won't pull the skin off pudding at 4000, and then rips your arms off at 5000. I always thought of this S2 as an example of a good running S-series. It's reassuring to see this thing struggling to climb up the driveway at 5 grand.
That said, I'm watching this thing yet up to 9k with ease and it's making me want to play with my main jets.

Thanks so much. That brought back a lot of memories.
I had a long and scary relationship with my S2A. Many accidents, and great many near accidents, and cop chases.
It had the same gas consumption as my H2, which was about 18 mpg, when ridden hard.
I rode a m8's one with chambers and it nearly went over backwards in the 1st, 2nd, and third. :-)

Very fond memories. I bought mine used in September 1974 - one of my two favourite bikes. Had it for years and tweaked it constantly. Changed the handlebars to Clubmans to keep the weight more forward to help avoid those inadvertent wheelies.

2 Stroker + the sound of triple intakes sucking air, 4 minutes of joy... Great bike and a great ride with a lot of gear changes.

Thank you, I heard your audio and the flood of memories came back like a waterfall. There was never another bike that came close to those triples, the 350, 500 or the 750, they were true "rice rockets"

  • @nrm59

I had two of them. When you first started them and they were cold it was hard to keep the front wheel down. They became more civilized when they warmed up. The sound with the baffles removed was awesome!

my gt 380 was the same when cold and frosty like a turbo intercooler the air compressed with the fuel better i took of the air box and fitted k and n filters and bigger jets in the carbs it went like a rocket when cold but it got hot and blue out the middle piston three times so went back to standard air box most of my wages went on it aged 17 back in 1977 wish i had it now

I do get overexcited with the 350 triple. For me its a dream bike, and I do still have an H2C. If I had to choose between a drum-brake S2 or a disc-brake S2A I think I’d explode.
These triples are dangerously addictive. I don’t think you ever get over having one and I don’t think anything else really substitutes. The S3 400 is sweeter and better behaved, but the 350 launches your soul for the moon.

Love the wheelie out of the drive, mine would do the same thing out of 1st gear too without even trying, next thing I know I'm going through the intersection on the rear wheel....lol

It’s much more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow...A S2 350 wouldn’t be considered very fast by todays standards but it’s fun factor is off the scale!

Never saw a Kawa 350 Tripple here, some Mach III and very sparely the H2 but never the 250 or 350 S2 which were beautiful motorcycles :)

The S2 were rare here in the UK, i had an early H2 and have ridden the 500, 400, 350 and 250, out of the lot i reckon the S2 was the nicest to ride, the worst was the early H1b

My favourite triple was the KH400, had one from new. Went on to prefer the RD 350 power valve F2. Incredible bike. It was happiest @ 100 + mph (pre speed camera days) 😊

I can see you ride a -73, I have a-72. Very similar, it's a fun bike to drive, with "interresting" power band characteristics...

I have a 73 honda cb350 four. I think the next unique one i need would be a 350 triple :) I had a triple 1100 in my 96 kawasaki jet ski, that thing was a beast! same idle haha.

this S2 or your RD350. Explain differences: Handling, Power, Comfort, etc. Would love to hear your opinions since both nice

    • @phoenixvids
      @phoenixvids  6 років тому +1

Power wise pretty much equal, until you hit 6th in the RD and it starts to pull away. We ran them side by side on more than one occasion. The RD handles better and has better low end since it is reed valve induction versus piston port. The S2A is definitely peakier. I wish I hadn't sold the S2A but it is hard to feed and care for them all and honestly I hardly rode the S2A after I got the RD. That being said the S2A feels faster because of the big hit of the power band and there is no sound quote like a Kawasaki Triple coming on the pipe... Both are comfortable and nimble. The S2s are rare because they only made them in 72 and 73.
