    There are many channels around but yours stands out in a magnificent way. The respect and thoughtfulness is a great part to your approach to fishing and the fact that you share and spread this information is also fantastic.

    Another informative video. Definitely will be using this method. Much more humane, and if the fish tastes better it’s “win win”.
    Congratulations on being brave enough to show this on your channel. All the others I’ve seen shy away from this emotive side of fishing.

    To clarify Billy refers to the wire as "titanium" but actual titanium wire would not serve at all -- what he is using is Nitinol, a titanium/nickel alloy. If you're going to buy some you want the "superelastic" variety with minimal memory. Also, great videos Billy, some of the best fishing content on the Tube...

    Interesting video Billy. I've brain-spiked my fish for ages, usually on a piece of foam so they don't damage themselves and spike them using the tip of my knife. I cut their throat, break their necks and pop them straight into ice water. Never directly onto ice. I do have a spike like yours for bigger fish. I have never seen the wire technique before - but it makes sense. I'll try it and see if it makes a difference to the flavour.

    • @Billyfishing_watch
      @Billyfishing_watch  Рік тому +1

      Hi Gav. Where's the pic's bud, love to see some OZ fish. The spikes are easy to mack out of a screwdriver, using a Grindr. What ever size you like. As for the taste, some people say it doesn't change. But I think they're not doing it properly. For me it makes all the difference in the world, give it a go. If you need a link for the wire I'll send it to you. Thanks Brother 👍😁

      @@Billyfishing_watch I'll buy that. But I'll also go on to say that the time and effort needed to process fish this way is greater than the subjective improvement in taste. But good demo anyway!

      @@Billyfishing_watch Well, natch. All I'm pointing out is that I don't think the extra effort is equal to the relative improvement in taste. I'll keep it efficient, as Lord knows there's already a lot in fishing to pay attention to.

      As it goes it's not just the taste that improves. It will make the flesh last longer as well. It is a technique the Japanese used to prolong the shelf life of food. Is retards the growth of bacteria and other harmful mechanisms. And honestly it doesn't take very long. It only takes me about 10 seconds to complete the process. When I'm not making a video!

    Were you supposed to cut the artery to the gill before passing the wire through the spinal chord to bleed it?
